Oh Florida! An East Meets West Girl's TR: 8/9 p56 & 8/17 p57

Thanks for posting, Cynthia! I love hearing about the girl's trip from both perspectives.
It sounds like it has been an insanely busy couple of months for you and your family. I can definitely see why you didn't have any time to get on the DIS. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Avengers race works out for you!

That breakfast from Sleepy Hollow looks huge. I love how fresh it looks, though. The tomatoes look they were cut at the perfect time. (I'm a stickler for tomatoes.)

I didn't realize they'd opened up a snack location near Under the Sea. Even a year later, I was clueless. I'm really glad you posted the menu, because going next week pregnant I know I'll be craving that crushed ice item.

Relaxing at the pool is always the best, and while cold pizza isn't my thing, I'm sure if it was from Via Napoli it was delicious. Even as leftovers, their food is amazing.

I don't think the art store is ever coming back to the Poly, which is a bummer. They had some beautiful pieces in there.

I think for me it's the simple fact that I almost never get to go out for breakfast. I love actual breakfast foods but find cooking it to be so unrewarding.

This 100%! Breakfast really is my all time favorite meal. And you got me thinking, that we NEVER go out for breakfast. And I always get so excited for WDW when I'm allowed to make ONE breakfast ADR! :hyper: So I would have been frustrated too.

IMG_1198.jpg

So cute. They're brave little guys aren't they?

I do like that!

Turns out he wished I'd have bought it but given that he didn't say so at the time...he was SOL.

:rotfl2:

Ah, the treehouse

Still haven't visited this treehouse.

And head back to a calmer view

IMG_1213.jpg

Super nice!

Chips, salsa, rum drink.... What more does anyone need?

P5159024.jpg

Maybe some guac? And tequila. ::yes::

Prosciutto and Melon pizza, cold, it really couldn't have been more perfect on a hot day.

I'm not a cold pizza fan at all, but this combination, I would try it!

I always wish for overflowing pots and gardens and love the actual act of gardening

Same here! Our problem is, it's way too hot to house flowers like this because we don't have a covered patio and it gets ridiculous here in the Summer so nothing could really live. HOWEVER, just yesterday, and i'm super excited about this, we started talking to a guy that builds patios and we'll be placing the order today to start building next month! :hyper::banana:

I adore this ride

Me too. I laugh every time at the corny characters though:rotfl:

Aw you girls look great!

And our favorite stalker!

IMG_1274.jpg

:lmao: Who's being the stalker now?!

I'm glad Dugette chimed in with who the unknown celebrities were. It saved me having to look them up. Ashley Eckstein also designs clothing and jewelry that they sell during the festival.

Yay Dugette! :worship: Sounds like a great side business for her. :thumbsup2

Breakfast looked good, but from what I understand it was never about the food, but more so the character interactions. Glad you got some good pictures.

I SO wish I had my regular camera. That part was a bummer. It really was a great venue for that type of breakfast and the character interaction. I'm glad we decided to do it.

People are crazy about the parade, so I'm not surprised you had an ear and strands of hair in your pics unless you staked out a spot hours in advance. It's all about priorities and yours were on DIS meets and having fun, clearly not waiting in lines.

Mine is NEVER on waiting for parades. When I have my DSLR I have a knack for being able to get decent pictures even when I'm behind two rows of people, but with a cell phone its a lot harder and I tend to let little things like hair and hats get on my nerves. :rotfl2: It's silly, but stuff like that frustrates me even though it shouldn't.

Yay for getting on both ToT and RnRC! Fun morning and you're just getting started!

I "think" we did both, but I am sure we did ToT. It's sort of hard to remember now. Hopefully Cynthia will remember. She is much better at the details than I am.

Uh, can someone please come over and recreate this for my Holiday table?! PLEASE?!:faint::cloud9:

I know right? That table was just stunning. They really did a great job this year. I loved that room and especially the table.

Seeing you two in coats, really makes me miss cold weather right about now:sad2:

:rotfl2: It's so funny that you would say that because by the end of this winter I said I was going to throw that coat in the trash because I was SO tired of wearing it. It was just the longest, coldest winter. But actually, that night wasn't terrible. Usually when I go to Longwood its below freezing and they close a lot of the outside displays.

These look fabulous! Too bad they didn't taste that good.

Well, they didn't taste bad, just "eh".

I've seen pics of her on others threads but don't know her, but Congratulations Caitlin!

She's a lovely girl and her family is so nice. She's doing great. She has a couple new jobs at Disney and loves every minute of it.

I love your shirt.

Thanks - I got that shirt for $3. :rotfl2: It was totally a lucky find. How could I NOT buy it???

That is so cool! And in Disney Font?! :cloud9:

I know. I love that bag - it's super cute. Joe is really talented. I wish I could do stuff like that. It was such a nice gesture on his part.

These three comments made me LOL! :rotfl2::rotfl:

What can I say - hair and hats get on my nerves..... :faint: ....
A lightsaber in a drink?! Too cool.

I know, right? I wish I knew what happened to it. It was such a fun think to add to my drinks!
:drinking1

I haven't met Popadon yet, but Danielle and her mom are so, so nice! :goodvibes

He is a total hoot. they are a great family. I hope I have another trip that overlaps with theirs. It was so fun to meet them.

Yes, I have been MIA. Completely, totally, utterly. I suck! Lost my mojo that's for sure. June sucks the life out of me every year. I have selective memory and forget just how brutal it is, until I am in it. I will get updates up though, I promise. I am not at all sure I can get everything up to meet your goal of finishing before your august trip but I can definitely try.

Well, let's see - I have 5 weeks before my August trip so I think I can finish, but that doesn't mean you have to.

I actually think we have both lost our mojo. I know that ever since I changed jobs and can't occasionally read or update a work, its gotten a lot more cumbersome. Sometimes I just feel too tired to update and comment at night. I'm just done!

I do have them! And they are actually uploaded to PB.

YAY! I have GOT to clear up some space on my hard drive. Then I will download them FINALLY! I actually can't wait to see them!

I do still have my death star, I have to admit. And a picture of the drink (and I think even what both are called, a pic of the menu). I have a TON of pics from this day.

I found the picture of the menu - but for some reason it never uploaded with the rest of my pictures. I found it either on my computer or my phone the other day. Weird.

I am sorry for being so lame.

I think we are pretty equal partners in lameness these days! :rotfl:

I didn't know Sci Fi had Star Wars themed breakfast. Cute. And how fun that you got to turn it into a big DISmeet. That's a fun way to spend time with DISers.

It worked out perfectly because Cynthia and I were planning to do it ourselves but when I found out that Caitlin and her family were going to be at HS that day I asked if they wanted to join us. I'm so glad we did that breakfast.

We must've just missed each other at DHS that afternoon. I watched the 3 o'clock parade at MK and then headed over to DHS to meet Danielle. Speaking of, great PP shot of you guys. You were getting lots of DISmeets in that day. I love that a DISer's husband wanted to do one, even without her there. Too funny.

I know - I was so surprised that Joe wanted to meet me. That was pretty cool. I'm glad he recognized me because he used to have his face blanked out in pictures.

It really was a great day for DIS meets and there will be more.

You see some crazy sights at SWW. Your pictures definitely prove that!

Yup - there are a few examples of some craziness - that's for sure! :lmao:

I think they were the Force and the Dark Side. I believe the Force was Vodka based and the Dark Side had Rum. I know Fran and I were clearly divided on this drink which worked out well cause we could get one of each.

Love your pictures from Longwood Garden.

Thank you! It's such a beautiful place and I feel fortunate to live close enough to be able to visit on a regular basis.

What a fun looking day!

It really was. I had a great time!

SWW looks amazing. The dress-ups, the characters....what a great experience.

It's definitely for the SW fan. I think it gets better all the time.

Glad you had DisMeets planned. It's always great to meet people in real life.

It really is. I love DIS meets. And SWW in May is a great time to meet other DISers. It was so fun to find out that so many DISers were going to be there at the same time. I'm glad we were able to plan meets with everyone.

I'm watching you MEK, always watching...

Cute! Very cute!

Seriously - I did get a laugh out of that....::yes::

Just kidding.....where's my discounted points reservation?

I actually tried to email you the other night, but for some reason my computer wouldn't send emails. I can't post the information here. It's against DIS rules and you know I wouldn't want to break the RULES!!!!!!

Loved the Garden pix I looked at them with Kyle who said "Those a rally good pictures is she a professional" The Star Wars pix are great, we had that breakfast a few days before you!!!!It was good , nice selection of courses !!!I have finally loaded a few of my Jun iney pix and am doing a mini TR within my Rosie Roams for 2015 .

Oh - what a nice compliment. I definitely got a big smile on my face when I read that! Tell Kyle I said Thank you!

So - you are back writing your TR????? Good to know. I have definitely not been spending enough time on the DIS lately, so I'll make sure I check it out. I would love to hear about you most recent trip.

I hope everything calms down for you and that you get some mojo back for the Dis.

::yes::

Gorgeous Longwood pictures! :) I haven't gotten there in a few years :(

Thank you! I love Longwood. We have an annual pass right now and its so worth it. We are going again in another couple weeks for their new Nightscape Display. You know what that means???? More pictures! :faint:

Oh my goodness was it HOT during that time. Mom and I went to DHS and totally missed the SW stuff, we were so hot we couldn't stand it.

It was pretty hot that Friday but I thought it cooled down (or I guess I should say it got less humid) on Saturday. I don't like to think about the heat because I will be there soon in the August heat. Yikes! :faint:

But I love seeing all your pictures of stuff we missed. And the Sci Fi breakfast looked pretty cool, too bad it wasn't fantastically delicious.

Not fantastically delicious, but really fun all the same. I really glad we arranged that. It was fun!

And lots of fun Dismeets :)

Oh Yes - And we have one more final meet before we wrap this up. I wonder who that is????:rolleyes1

Thank goodness for Sleepy Hollow! It saved the day.

I NEEDED eggs! And Meat! It was HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy wanted Mary Ellen to share

IMG_1197.jpg

Wow - you must have really liked that waffle because you have three pics to my one! :rotfl2: Sleepy Hollow really DID save the day!

Up next, a meet with LL!

And the absolutely adorable Violet

IMG_1201.jpg

IMG_1203.jpg

OMG - I didn't realize that you had pictures of our meet. Awesome! :worship:

We voyaged with a mermaid, I took lots of lame blurry pictures, and I took one of the requisite souvie "idea" Pictures to text to a kid

This is a really cute T. Love this!

Pretty!

And stopped for a photo of our own

Yay Us!

Loved the update!

I had a friend (not on this thread) who almost left the DIS because of things she found on another site. Luckily she got over it and still posts interesting and verbose TRs!

YAY for verbosity!

I gave up on other people's opinions like that years ago. I was sort of bullied in Jr High and HS, but since I never let it bother me, they never had any fun with it and moved on to more soft skinned people. I figure if people are talking about me behind my back, it's cause they have nothing better to do with themselves and that's sad. I have a life and choose to share it here and I'm glad you ladies continue to do that as well. Who cares what people say on this "anti-dis", we all have DIS meets and great friends on the DIS. Who needs negativity when there is fun to be had?

Mean people suck. Really, it is as simple as that. Some of my most favorite people in the world have been found here on the DIS. I am quite sure I have folks that think this, that or the other thing about me. And that's ok. I agree though, it's sad. So not what I want to spend my energy on!

Cynthia - I totally missed your update earlier. I checked your race link - you and Jeff have been busy! Bay to Breakers sounds like a crazy race.

It's funny, it was crazy and yet...not nearly at the level I'd been led to believe. Naked runners and all. In a lot of ways it was like a rD event...with booze.

LOL! We had an absolute blast at it.

I love your chips and salsa on the veranda. You really had a nice view.

I LOVE that building at OKW and that view. It is so very very Zen to me! I feel away from everything. Which right now sounds pretty amazing.

Was that the GF Cafe? We ate lunch there once and was not impressed. I think it took 2 1/2 hours from the time we walked in until the time we had finally gotten our bill and left the restaurant - the slowest service ever and the place was half empty. :faint:

It was the GF. It was a never done for both of us and yeah....it was just ok. Nothing horrible but nothing earth shattering either and the ambiance was pretty meh. I'm glad to have tried it and don't regret it but it's not on my list to go back to any time soon.

Oh I hope so. It isn't looking good but....I have until almost Oct to decide on a deferral so hopefully I will have better news by then. At the moment though, not encouraging. Fortunately it is definitely a "bonus" trip for me. Meaning it's tied to my bonus. My kids have a huge school trip next march that is eating up all normal vacation funds. And, sadly, it appears they've decided to change our bonus program to now pay out in late December...instead of...next month. Not.Happy.At.All. While we don't really have any true official info...my gut says...I'm screwed. The race is paid for and the flight isn't an issue but I really want to stay on property if I am solo and then there is a park ticket and well, it just adds up. :(

That breakfast from Sleepy Hollow looks huge. I love how fresh it looks, though. The tomatoes look they were cut at the perfect time. (I'm a stickler for tomatoes.)

Sadly I have to say the tomatoes looked better than they tasted. They weren't bad mind you but they were just a touch early.

I didn't realize they'd opened up a snack location near Under the Sea. Even a year later, I was clueless. I'm really glad you posted the menu, because going next week pregnant I know I'll be craving that crushed ice item.

Pregnant????? Oh my goodness I am so out of the loop. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Relaxing at the pool is always the best, and while cold pizza isn't my thing, I'm sure if it was from Via Napoli it was delicious. Even as leftovers, their food is amazing.

Something about the melon and prosciutto...cold...was just so refreshing on an uber hot day before hitting the pool.

I don't think the art store is ever coming back to the Poly, which is a bummer. They had some beautiful pieces in there.

That makes me very sad but I am not surprised.

This 100%! Breakfast really is my all time favorite meal. And you got me thinking, that we NEVER go out for breakfast. And I always get so excited for WDW when I'm allowed to make ONE breakfast ADR! :hyper: So I would have been frustrated too.

Exactly!!!

So cute. They're brave little guys aren't they?

So tiny, it's hard to be too annoyed with them

Still haven't visited this treehouse.

Give it another year or two so Calvin can handle the stairs without complaining. :)

Maybe some guac? And tequila. ::yes::

Well, the tequila and rum would NOT mix. Which reminds me....Mary Ellen (@MEK) had brought a wicked strong super yummy rum....I forget what brand though, but oh, it was good. Killer poolside drinks.

I'm not a cold pizza fan at all, but this combination, I would try it!

It was really lovely, something about the cold melon and prosciutto. On a hot day, before the pool...perfection.

Exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am actually glad I didn't plant more, I usually do. It has been so hot here compared to normal that anything not on the drip system would be dead.
:lmao: Who's being the stalker now?!

Good point. LOL!

I "think" we did both, but I am sure we did ToT. It's sort of hard to remember now. Hopefully Cynthia will remember. She is much better at the details than I am.

I probably have a screen shot lol.

I know. I love that bag - it's super cute. Joe is really talented. I wish I could do stuff like that. It was such a nice gesture on his part.

That bag is adorable, he is very very talented. And super nice too! I was impressed he went for the PP picture.

5 weeks. Ok, that might be doable. That's right about when my next real work trip is. I have one next week but am actually taking the family along and it's just a long weekend.

I am having the same issue at night. Complicated by the fact that right now I am driving Evan to drivers ed every single night...and then picking him up and trying to fit in work outs and eating/cooking around it. Thank goodness it's only a 4 week course!

YAY! I have GOT to clear up some space on my hard drive. Then I will download them FINALLY! I actually can't wait to see them!

Oh my goodness they are SO cute! I am looking forward to posting them!

I found the picture of the menu - but for some reason it never uploaded with the rest of my pictures. I found it either on my computer or my phone the other day. Weird.

I know that feeling. Mine are out of order, time stamp conflict/error between phone and "real" camera pictures. Drives me NUTS. And then we have the upload corruption issues...ugh.

I think we are pretty equal partners in lameness these days! :rotfl:

great minds think alike? Ok wait, that's not so great.:rotfl:

I think they were the Force and the Dark Side. I believe the Force was Vodka based and the Dark Side had Rum. I know Fran and I were clearly divided on this drink which worked out well cause we could get one of each.

Rum Rum! Rum ALWAYS wins.

:rotfl:

We will see if that is really what I had, I believe Mary Ellen had the Force and I had the Dark Side. We will see if that matches up, or not!
Wow - you must have really liked that waffle because you have three pics to my one! :rotfl2: Sleepy Hollow really DID save the day!

LOL. Or just trying for that perfect shot. I could have had half as much waffle, that was about my only issue with it. But I most decidedly ate the whole thing! I needed it and it hit the spot, in a big way.
OMG - I didn't realize that you had pictures of our meet. Awesome! :worship:

Yep!

YAY us!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took a picture of the same ornament! :rotfl: Have you been to the new Nightscape exhibit yet? I went a couple of nights ago, it's worth seeing but I think I like what they did 2 summers ago better. It's a little hard to take pictures of, videos are better because there's so much motion.

I was going to give you grief for calling a jawa a wookie, and for not knowing who some of those SWW people were, but I see that my fellow DISers have already done that! Good work everyone.

Thank goodness for Sleepy Hollow! It saved the day.

IMG_1194.jpg

I had intended on trying this after seeing it on this thread earlier, but my appetite and geographic location just didn't line up for that to work out.

I am 99% sure we ate our leftover via Napoli pizza for lunch. If we didn't do it that day, perhaps another but what I do recall is I ate it cold and it was SOOOOO good! Prosciutto and Melon pizza, cold, it really couldn't have been more perfect on a hot day.

We got the same pizza and also had leftovers eaten cold. Some slices didn't even make it to the next day.

although it does annoy me to hear that the woman's world cup isn't getting the same kind of attention!

I think that may have changed a little by the time the Final rolled around. :cheer2:

I actually tried to email you the other night, but for some reason my computer wouldn't send emails. I can't post the information here. It's against DIS rules and you know I wouldn't want to break the RULES!!!!!!

Yeah, I have 30 points already which is 6 more than my total posts (at the time of the infraction) - not a good ratio, and I'm being a good boy.

I think I found the points / cost the other night. Confusion sets in when I search for the exact room at Disney Go and and it's not being offered. Anyway, I see people post their "Disney Deals" all over these boards, so exactly what is considered a rule violation besides profanity and other such abuses?

I failed to mention that it was only marginally higher in cost than Art of Animation Suite, but, I have to tell you, my kids loved that place, especially the younger two. Pool parties, movies and magic bands with unlimited lemonade just 60 feet away, it will be hard to top! Plus, it had a pretty decent food court (better than Saratoga Springs in my opinion), huge arcade and gift shop.

Looks really yummy! :thumbsup2

I've yet to use the charging stations here but do like that they exist
Same here. We bring portable chargers, but this is a good back-up option.

That sounds perfect, especially with that awesome balcony/view.

Great, relaxed day!

Great updates, Ladies!

I am sorry I did not post or comment any earlier but the end of the school year was taking its toll. But I am proudly announcing that I am all caught up and will try to stay on top of things.

I had intended on trying this after seeing it on this thread earlier, but my appetite and geographic location just didn't line up for that to work out.

I know how that goes, there are several things I've never tried for that reason. And that's ok, gives reason to go back!

We got the same pizza and also had leftovers eaten cold. Some slices didn't even make it to the next day.

I almost liked it better cold!

I think that may have changed a little by the time the Final rolled around.

Well, they didn't get their own topiary and shirts being sold did they? They should have!!!

Same here. We bring portable chargers, but this is a good back-up option.

I struggle with the idea of sitting in a bathroom waiting area, no matter how nice it is, watching my phone charge. LOL! I bring portable ones too.

That sounds perfect, especially with that awesome balcony/view.

Great, relaxed day!

It was!

Great updates, Ladies!

I am sorry I did not post or comment any earlier but the end of the school year was taking its toll. But I am proudly announcing that I am all caught up and will try to stay on top of things.

I feel your pain on the end of the school year. Welcome back, I've been in the same boat although am not remotely caught up or even really lurking anywhere yet. Need to fix that.

:rotfl2:
Oh - what a nice compliment. I definitely got a big smile on my face when I read that! Tell Kyle I said Thank you!

So - you are back writing your TR????? Good to know. I have definitely not been spending enough time on the DIS lately, so I'll make sure I check it out. I would love to hear about you most recent trip.

I will tell Kyle if he is awake when I get home , I have started a little bit on the Disney Trip , having trouble with windows 8 and my new laptop with uploading etc . But I think I may switch around my schedule a bit and take some time off , which is really easy for me as I have discovered I can approve my own time OFF with this new computer PayLocity . My AD is clueless so will think he has gotten efficient :rotfl2:. My staff said the bosses will catch on but "Go for it while you can ":rotfl2:

I actually think we have both lost our mojo. I know that ever since I changed jobs and can't occasionally read or update a work, its gotten a lot more cumbersome. Sometimes I just feel too tired to update and comment at night. I'm just done!

No new job for just a whole more of the old one. But I get - I really do.

I had intended on trying this after seeing it on this thread earlier, but my appetite and geographic location just didn't line up for that to work out.

Oh - That has happened to me on several occasions.

Epcot Evening

OK guys. I have been a DIS loser again this weekend and I still have many replies to do, but humor me as I try to get out this update before I leave for work this morning.

But before I begin my next update I have a few more pictures to post. These were taken at Bombay Hook, which is a national wildlife refuge here in Delaware.

Continued In Next Post.....

I also took a few pictures on the ride home.

A few weeks later Denny and I went to Cambridge Md for a race. I took a few pictures with my phone that I’d like to share as well.

OK - Ready for an Update?

Here We Go…..

When I left off last (two weeks ago) Cynthia and I had actually entered our final day at the world. We started off with a Star Wars breakfast /DIS meet and continued on with a parade, some rides, and two more DIS meets.

Yup, we kind of looked like this before we left the park.

We went back to OKW. Don’t even ask me what we did. It may have been the pool. It may have been a nap. I don’t know. I really can’t remember and I have no pictures until we are getting ready to leave to go back to Epcot.

Leaving our home for its final night

It was a lovely night. One of those summer nights with fairly low humidity and bright blue skies.

We said hello to the topiaries for what we thought would be the last time.

And got a PP (these are from my camera)

Continued In Next Post....

Love these guys

A few more of Spaceship Earth

My personal favorite

Moving on

Checking out the DVC kiosk

The I noticed this over TT

Was this a launch? I think someone may have said yes. Whatever it was, I thought is was picture worthy.

Apparently I thought the same thing about these lights.

Oh wait - one more for good luck!

I really like this next pic. I just made it my screen saver.

Once again, I can’t decide which I like best so I am posting BOTH (I actually think I like the first just a tad better).

Combo pic!

I was loving all the cool shadows this evening.

The filtered version

Another light

The Facebook version?

And a look back at my favorite icon (OK - second favorite - the castle wins!)

But now it was time to try some food samples! I’m thinking this is fish and some slaw. Yum.

I can never pass up a beet salad.

I’m sure I sampled more, but I usually have a hard time photographing my food when I am also carrying around an adult beverage. Please forgive me!

The camera went away until we walked around to the other side of the World Showcase. We were about to watch Illuminations from Japan. And waiting in Japan was Kat (who we met earlier this trip) and some other former DISers. Cynthia will have to fill you in on the specific DISers, because I didn’t really know them.

So, I don’t have time to post all my Illuminations pics so I’ll just post a few from my very obstructed view on the deck in Japan.

A few more in the next post...
