Still no reviews about the Holiday Wishes Dessert Party?
Candycane, you, and I are all waiting for a review....we will have to write our own the first week in December for all the later December peeps! Actually, I am pretty sure there is someone going the last week of November who said they'd report back to us
We attended the
MVMCP Dessert Party Tuesday, Nov. 15th.
Some specifics:
1) We went to Tomorrowland Terrace ramp and picked up our party lanyards around 6:00pm from two CMs at a podium in that area.
2) We arrived at the parade viewing section around 7:30pm. My mom, husband and I stayed in that area until the parade was over. Our two DDs (12 and 13) went and rode some rides while we waited. As we entered the parade viewing area, we were handed small bottles of water and cookies.
3) We were able to get a spot right under the Christmas tree that looks straight down Main Street directly towards the Castle. Numerous people (non-dessert party folks) tried sittling on the curb in front of us, but CMs would eventually come by and make them leave. They continuously asked everyone close to the curbs to see their dessert party lanyards. And no one (even dessert party goers) was allowed to sit directly on the curb during the parade since the floats come too close to that curb where we were. I'm not sure how much they were enforcing this on any other part of that parade viewing section. We could only see the part around us. I can't even tell you if the other Flag Pole sections were crowded with dessert party goers or not since our spot did not allow for me to see behind us (we had a big, giant Christmas tree blocking the view behind us). Here are some shots of our view:
4) After the parade, they rope off a trail and lead the group to Tomorrowland Terrace using the section that runs behind the Main Street shops and comes out between the Plaza Restaurant and Tomorrowland Terrace. Here is a picture of the remnants of last week's supermoon in the background on the way to using that path:
5) I forgot to take pictures of the dessert party itself (between helping my mom--who is in a wheelchair--and a daughter who has a cast on her arm get their desserts and then my own, the fireworks had begun), but we really liked the offerings. As we walked in we were handed glasses of sparking apple cider (YUM). I have attended four other regular MK Dessert Parties in the past and found most offerings to be similar to those offered at this event. They did have a sugar cookie decorating section, though, where my kiddos had a blast applying their own icing and toppings onto various Christmas-shaped sugar cookies. They also had cheeses and crackers to help cut down on all the "sweet". On each table they also had gift bags of assorted Ghiradeli chocolates for party goers to take home.
Now for my opinions on whether or not it was "worth it" or if one should do it:
6) This was our 8th MVMCP since 2000. We do not care to meet characters, we are fine just seeing them from a distance (it is awesome seeing them in their Christmas attire). We have experienced most things that the party has to offer in the past. So FOR US, this was worth it. It was something new for us to experience at MVMCP. Back when we first started going to these events (16 years ago), two people deep on Main Street during the FIRST parade was considered "crowded." Now, ALL parades at this event are "crowded" in our view (you can see how many folks are crammed into Main Street for the first parade). We wanted to experience the parade and fireworks with a good view without having to fight what WE consider "crowds." And this dessert event met our expectations on that front.
7) If you are a first-timer to this event (MVMCP), I think it will not leave you much time to experience all of the other wonderful things the party has to offer. Basically from 7:30pm to 10:30pm we were doing the dessert party events (which we knew ahead of time and had planned on doing). Our girls would come-and-go between the dessert party events so that they could ride rides, get the treats, join the dance parties, etc. We did all go enjoy the remaining 1.5hrs on some rides and shopping, BUT...if this was my first (or even second party)...I would probably have felt that I missed out on MOST of the MVMCP offerings.
8) As for next year, I probably would NOT do this dessert party again. As much as we enjoyed it, once was enough for us. The regular MK dessert party is fine for us...if we feel the need for another dessert party. I'd rather enjoy the other MVMCP events next time.
