UPDATE: changed to *official* with this Orange County Register article, which also repeats some of the more common rumors

March 30 will be the last day of the current Innoventions. Plenty of rumors about what happens next.

Most likely seems to be the "60th anniversary museum". Later, it may be may be re-imagineered or torn down for a new attraction.

There is now an ending date of the "refurbishment" of Sept 30, 2016. One guess is that the building would be demolished afterwards.

Oh no. We are going in June and my son is a huge captain America fan and keeps saying how he wants to meet him at Disneyland. Hopefully the rumors are wrong.

We were also REALLY looking forward to meeting them in May. :worried: Is there any whisperings of where they may be moving to, if at all?

I hope they keep them and just put them somewhere else. Maybe dca can find a space for them similar to the frozen fun. Glad we've got one more trip planned before it closes. My son lives his super heroes and we still haven't gotten to see it due to other activities.

I have to say it surprises me too that they're ending the Marvel character meet and greets. Given the new movie coming out this summer, I wouldn't be surprised if Captain America and Thor re-appear, but at some different location. (There have been rumors about a Marvel-themed mini-area over in DCA, so perhaps moving the characters out of Innoventions is the first step.)

I do hope they move them somewhere else. Its so nice for the boys to have superheroes to meet there .... the girls get the princesses and the boys get Jedi Training Camp and the Superheroes.

With the lines to see them all day long, you wonder why they'd finish it off. This has been the ONLY good reason to visit Innoventions in decades. Unless they turn it into an Avengers thematic dark/thrill ride, I don't see this helping DL.

Not to hijack this thread, but...Jedi Training Academy and Superheros aren't just for boys. I've seen plenty of girls at both of these. I've also seen boys meeting the princesses.

Oh no! I hope they just get moved. We've been trying to carve out times to meet Thor & Captain America on our last couple of trips & it hasn't happened yet. Promised ds we'd meet them no matter what in June.

I agree though that the Superheros are a great perk for boys of all ages (and great for my 13 year old!). I have three sons and it was nice to have something new for them. I know some girls like them too but speaking from experience, I was excited to see something new geared toward my guys for a change! Cars is great but really marketed toward the younger kids (speaking about outside the parks), and Frozen is largely perceived as a "girls" thing, although my kids love it...but are loathe to admit it!

We visit April 30th....so bummed to think we might just miss it :guilty: I am hopeful that they will just be moved as well! I agree about this being the first decent thing to happen in Innoventions in ages!

So, the next day happens to be April 1, which is ... hmm .... :jester:
No, this is for real.

[Remember that the web site is often updated inconsistently and late, so ...]
Innoventions has "No times available." that day

UPDATE: Captain America & Thor are now both listed as "No times available."

Anyone know what they plan to do with Starcade? Because that would be a good area to Marvel-ize. With ticket prices rising, it is harder to justify wasting time playing Pac Man in an arcade when you could be riding a ride or doing something else that is exclusively Disney. :)

I saw that too. With the massive success of Marvel these days I honestly can't see why they would get ride of them. The Avengers 2:Age of Ultron movie is coming out May 1st. Disney will promote it heavily in the parks just like the last Marvel films which leads me to believe that something bigger and better is on the horizon for Marvel fans.

I agree!

That's a bummer - hope they continue them elsewhere! DH and DD loved seeing Captain America and Thor last fall, and she and I were hoping to go see them again in June (ok, I really was. Thor was super cute!)

We will be there April 3-6. I'm hoping we'll be able to see them somewhere. Thor "only" signed my daughter's autograph book under the agreement that he would be in the next book. (we had made a special book with photos of her and the characters) She is super excited to show him his page in her new book.

No, this looks for real, but there is some apparent good news for fans of the characters

I was looking at these schedules on my phone and I don't know if it was because I was on the mobile site or what, but as I was clicking on different days in April for the captain America schedule it would change from 11-6 to no times available. For example I clicked on April 12th multiple times and a couple times it showed 11-6 and a couple times it said no times available. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? I don't know what to believe anymore for the chances of meeting captain America come June.

What did they do to promote the first movie in the parks? We'll be there the week of May 10 & was really hoping there'd be something going on with avengers 2 coming out. My 10 year old nephew is a huge superhero fan.

I think the promos started with Iron Man 3, that's when the Hall of Armor debuted. Then they brought in Thor when Thor 2 came out, then added Cap when Winter Soldier was released. I think they also had preview screenings of each film and AP events. It would be great if they did something for Age of Ultron, like add the Hulkbuster armor to the exhibit. They better get on it!
