Since we're flying to WDW via New York, we're stopping on the way back home for 2 days - just to see the Book of Mormon (i bought the tickets 4 months ago).

And while i have every split second of our WDW trip planned, other than the broadway tickets, i haven't even made us hotel reservations in New York yet (for this august).

We used to always stay at the Waldorf, but it's much more than i want to spend this time.
But looking on trip advisor, i just don't know what to choose.

I've gotten to be very wary of trip advisor recommendations, as i know that hotels post fictitious reviews (good ones for themselves and bad reviews for other hotels)...

So i'm coming to you, whom i most definitely trust!! :lovestruc
anyone have a hotel they recommend in NYC? Or one that i should absolutely avoid?

any opinions you can share - good and bad would be greatly appreciated!!! :goodvibes

I have stayed at the Hampton Inn on 51st and 8th many times. It is a quick, safe walk to Times Sq. It has a very nice breakfast off the lobby....free to guests. It's my favorite spot to stay in.

What's your price range? You might want to check out The Jane, which is awesome, and you don't have to stay in Times Square.

I go to NYC every year during the US Open and can wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Giraffe (Park Avenue South), Library Hotel (Madison Ave, midtown) and Morgans Hotel (Madison Ave, midtown). If you plan ahead, you can sometimes snag a really good deal at both the Library Hotel and Morgans Hotel. They all feature free breakfast in the mornings.

Only been to NYC once but the New York Palace is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. On Madison not far from the waldorf and right opposite St Patricks cathedral. The little courtyard that overlooks said cathedral is a real haven in the mad hustle and bustle of the city :)

i guess i'm willing to go up to about $300...

i don't think i want to stay in times square - i know it's been cleaned up since we lived in manhattan (a VERY long time ago) - but still, other than broadway, there isn't really any reason to be there...

i wonder if there are any nice boutique hotels either on the upper west or upper east sides...

it would be a different view of NYC for DD (who hates NYC, but loves chicago)..

Also, give a look at The Beacon Hotel. on the UWS. It is right above the Beacon Theatre, very close to Central Park and Riverside Park, and across the street from Fairway Market, aka, the best coffee on the planet. :) You can get a suite there for about $300!

My favorite hotel in NYC is the OMNI Berkshire Place. We have stayed there many times and you can find some really good online booking deals sometimes.

We've stayed at the Marquis many times and if you want a bustling tourist spot right in Midtown it is nice but the crowds have gotten to me. Plus last trip my DD's talked me into The View restaurant and I absolutely hated it.

We now stay at the Ritz Battery park. They have awesome weekend rates and the view of the Statue of Liberty are stunning.

    Beth,

You might look at oyster.com as they have numerous photos of many New York hotels.
