Not using DME; check-in; tickets ready?

We are not riding on the bus to the resort, as someone is picking us up from the airport.

1. From what I've read though, I think we can still tag our luggage with the yellow tags and they will make it to our resort, right?

2. Do we have to "check-in" at the counter at the airport?

3. Since we will have received the magic bands, are they good to be used immediately or do they have to be activated? Meaning, can we go straight from our ride at the airport to a park or do we HAVE to go to the hotel to get "checked-in" and our bands activated?

As far as not checking in first, up to you. Your MB should be good to go. But most people here like to get checked in and on the record as 'being there'.
