Ok I see some complainants happening here and have to say a few things to those who are complaining to much.
Here are a few hints and tips to have a better trip

1. WOC if you do your research you can get some kick but viewing spots. I spent a good half hour the day of my woc night, and talked to a cast member. She showed me the best place to go to for the filming and where to watch with out to many heads in my way.
(read trip report boards for that hint)

2. Fireworks being canceled. Yes it sucked my last two nights in the park they were canceled i was nearly in tears Monday night. DL is not the one who makes the calls. The fire department does. So stop yelling at the cast members or getting upset about it. Yes it sucked yes I was upset but I didn't scream or blame the Cast members at all.

If you want a good seat for fire works get a bench at 2-3 pm the one in front of plaza inn where you can see almost the whole castle was perfect view.

3. If you go see Thor or cap america go straight to Thor skip the iron man stuff till the end. Then go straight to cap america the lines can get long quick.

4. Frozen meet and greet. I don't know how many ppl i heard in the middle of the day saying "Oh lets go meet Elsa." I wanted to turn around and tell them "You are to late you wont get there."
If you want to meet Elsa and Anna, you must show up early before the gates open. Try and get the closest to the front of the gate. Then head straight over to the line.
They will take 40 ppl then they will give you a fast pass. Let me say the rides in f antsy land were walk on's mostly while we waited for the fast pass time.

5. You are in Disney land nothing is perfect in the every day world its the same in Disney land. Cast members have feelings too. Have respect, have manors, say thank you, your welcome and excuse me. You will get more with honey than with vinegar.

From the words of my son this trip. "Man mom why is every one so rude. Did there parents not teach them any manors?" :rotfl2:

I saw more rude ppl this trip than I ever had :confused3 but we stayed kind and respectful and went out of our way to show respect to others. We shared our bench with a family. We gave tips and hints along the way. I answered so many questions I over heard being asked. :wizard:

Over all we had a awesome trip. Sure things didn't go all as planed a few times but we shrugged it off and went on our way. We each did things we wanted to do and we each gave up one or two things as well.:cool1:
You have to comprimise to have a good trip or else you will dwell on all the bad things.

Jade, how was the 5k? Did you like running in the park while it was closed? Did you stop for any pictures with characters?

I think certain things are a matter of perspective. Some people will not be happy with a WoC spot if they have to look between the shoulders of someone in front of them, or if they don't have the exact perfect viewing angle of the water screen and the fun wheel. Whereas most people would only complain about something much more major than that.

Thank you so much for this post. You are so right, nothing is in life is perfect so why should we expect Disneyland to be perfect 100% of the time? I know that I am REALLY looking forward to our trip next week, first time during the holidays and I've been stressing about crowds and touring plans and such. BUT, after reading some of the recent posts I just needed to remind myself to take a chill pill and sit back and enjoy the holiday magic while I'm there. I KNOW that we will not get to everything on our list, and we also need time to relax, so I am going into it knowing it won't be perfect and that's OK. I think setting expectations too high will just lead to disappointment. We will have fun NO MATTER WHAT!!

I'm curious, did you go see Thor and Cap right when they opened? I remember when I went in March I got there right when it opened and went straight to Thor. I waited maybe 10min but by the time I was done they said the wait for Cap was already at 45min so I skipped it! Maybe we'll do one on one day and one the next day. DS and DH are obsessed with Marvel so it is a must do!

Thanks again :)

I would probably just do both on the same day. Once you figure out how long it takes to go over there, go into Innoventions, wait 10-15 minutes twice and then go on to something else, I figure that it's about the same as going to Innoventions once, waiting 10-15 minutes then another 30-40 minutes and be done with it. If the second greet was over an hour, I'd probably skip it, but if the second line is in the 40 minute range, I'd just knock it out and not have to go back.

We had an experience our first day of our trip, last Thursday, where a couple behind us in line to enter was screaming at the CM because their computer system kept messing up so the line was slow moving. Another CM came over to try to fix it and they told the CM she should help facilitate them being moved to the front of another line because this one was moving too slow. When she told them that wasn't possible but they were welcome to get in another line the couple started yelling at her not to talk to them because it was slowing down her fixing the computer system. I was in shock. My friend finally turned to them and said the CM doesn't control if the system is acting up. They just stared at my friend. It was a little shocking to be honest. They were very aggressive. It also didn't take us that much longer to get in then the people standing in the line next to us.

I figure any Disney trip I get is just one more lucky vacation for me. Something could happen tomorrow that may make them not possible so it's better to enjoy each one even if there are little disappointments. (Like crazy wind storms while running a half marathon in Disneyland!!! :) )

Oh and I went to the Thor and Cap meet and greets this past Sunday. I think we waited for about 5 minutes for Thor, did his whole experience then headed over to Cap and waited maybe 5 minutes and had pictures with him. This was around dinner time I'd say.

Two things to add: 1) manners are contagious and 2) the more Magic you give out, the more you get back...just saying.

I loved the 5 k and yes I stopped for black widow that was a 45 min wait. Only part i didn't like was the after math and how i hurt my leg after the race.
I also saw Thor right at 11. But we didn't do cap america being 45 min wait at the time. Later that day when i was holding the bench for the fireworks my dh and ds went to get cap america and waited 5 mins.

Then there's those that complain about people s post.. ;)

We were at the parks for 5 days a couple of weeks ago and I saw just the opposite. I thought people were a lot less rude than on previous trips.

So true! People tend to forget that a big part of the equation for the magic is our attitudes. Walt used to say that it doesn't cost much to be kind ("tuppence a bag...").

It's all how you look at things. We were on a cruise and got robbed in Jamaica. We had to look on the bright side or ruin our vacation. A) we were robbed in Jamaica, not at home. At least it was exotic. B) we only lost 20 dollars and a nice couple loaned us money to get back to the cruise ship. My point Is that a vacation is what you make of it even if it isn't perfect.

We were just there for 16 wonderful days and really didn't see anything that surprised us. Most people we noticed were seeming to have a good time too. I got stuck on RSR with a family and they were great. We were all talking and laughing and just doing the best with the breakdown. CM's we encountered were all nice and helpful. A smile and a thank you go a long ways in helping make someone's day more pleasant.

I agree with you and you have to have the right attitude to enjoy vacation, don't let things get to you just move on and adapt.

I don't see that many people being rude, a rare occasion, I have saw it and I think man what waste to get that upset on vacation, now on the flip side I have saw at least as many rude CM's as guest(which is not many either way) I think it craves both ways. Kind of like the stroller and ecv hatred I have been been bumped pushed and stepped on and ( it is as painful ) just as much by people walking actually more then by strollers and ECV. When it happens I just assume it was a accident and it usually was, not going to let it effect my trip.

I am glad you had a great trip.

We saw more rude teens and kids and the only reason we noticed it so much was my son's comments. See we as a family including grandma and grandpa pride our selves on the please, thank you, no thank you and excuse me with my son. He just seemed to notice so many kids who just ran right in front of us, cut us off, or were loud talkers complaining about one thing or another.
He also saw some kids bad talking there parents and looked at me with this face that said it all. "Oh my God mom why would they talk to her like that?" I know there's a lot of nice people there too and we did see a lot.
The cast members were all outstanding. I don't think this time we had one bad cast member in the parks.

Any ways I know it is what we make it and that is also why we didn't let any thing that went wrong. (Including house of blues not working out) mess our trip up. Instead we looked around for a positive.
Because we lost two nights of fireworks and rides we met a nice family and got to share our tips. They told us cap america was a 5 min wait. So my son got to go to Cap america when we thought we'd have to miss it.
The night before we decided as a family to go home not camp out for Fantasmic or FW and we had a nice night. We started packing had hot coco, had a nice bath and prepared a list for the last day of our trip.
Now the last night I got bummed out not having FW however i quickly shock it off and said "alright lets go to world of Disney and find a cd I want." so we did.

I say even though we had some things mess up we also just turned it right side up and make the best of it.
