No Sleep Till Brooklyn! WDW Road Trip July 2012! UPDATE 8/31/12 (DHS!)

Really enjoying your trip report!

We went to Washington DC this summer and stopped in the same Comfort Suites in Florence! Fabulous hotel!

Yes, it is a beautiful hotel! The only thing we didn't like was the train in the middle of the night, but that had nothing to do with the hotel itself. The staff was wonderful, and the room was clean and beautiful. :thumbsup2

I'm late but here!

I didn't even get to say goodbye before you left and here you are already into the third page of your TR! :scared1:

Just got caught up and my you guys had some amazing days already! You've been taking some great pics btw.

Sorry to read about your DS. Hopefully he's feeling better.

Thank you! Jonathan is much better now, thank goodness. I hope all is well with you and that you are feeling great! :grouphug:

I have to interject at this point to say I am really enjoying your writing style. Very entertaining, and your description and imagery makes me feel like I am there!

Thanks! It must be the teacher in me...I'm so used to trying to make learning and reading entertaining to people! ;)

Loving your trip report. I was amused to see that you stopped in my neck of the woods to spend the night on the trip down. We're a good halfway point for New Yorkers. ;)
I was also interested to see the Po Folks. I haven't seen one of those in years.

Po Folks was amazing! We talk about going back to Tampa/St. Pete again on our next trip, and if we do I am definitely returning there! Still a great place with amazing food. :thumbsup2

Hello everyone! I'm here to continue my TR with our arrival day at WDW, and then we spent 10 nights there. So you know, post #33 has the link to my dining report, so you can find my reviews and food porn pics there! And away we go...

So, we woke up fairly early and made it to breakfast at 8am in the Embassy Suites in Tampa. I decided that since I was going to indulge A LOT at Disney, I would have a light breakfast this morning. I had some oatmeal with a little maple syrup in it, a light yogurt to get a little protein in me, and some fruit. It was perfect to hold me over. We hit the road around 9am.

It was just over an hour to arrive at Disney! It was really great not to have to travel hours to get there from our previous destination. Before we knew it, we saw these signs on the road:

00ebed25.jpg

I didn't get any other pics from when we entered Walt Disney World, because I always videotape the kids when we are first arriving...it's a tradition for us and we like to see their reactions and the difference in their ages with each home video!

However, I did get a pretty good shot when we were first entering the resort. Please excuse the wire from the GPS! :rotfl:

We checked in with the guard at the gate, he gave us our parking pass and we drove up to the main entrance. Eric got out to make sure the luggage was checked in, and the boys and I were going inside to check in. As soon as I got out of the car, a CM greeted me and whisked us right to the entrance of the resort for check-in. This was so nice, and I felt the true Disney magic from the moment we arrived! I told her I just had to get a pic of the entrance first:

ec46db0d.jpg

The CM then escorted us to the check-in desk, an I discovered she was from NY. So we chatted about that for a sec, and she said she was actually sending me to a CM at the front desk who was also from NY. I got to chat with him a bit as well, as he was checking us in. He gave us our KTTW cards and said our room was not ready yet. I was expecting the room to be ready at 4pm, the guaranteed time. I never expect it earlier, since I know it takes time to clean a 1-bedroom villa, and just because that is the guaranteed time so I make sure our expectations are that we will not have access to the room until 4pm.

I asked him if he knew the location of the room. I had requested top floor, across from the bus stop (we had a 1-bedroom standard view at Boardwalk Villas). This was the same request I had made for our last trip, and we ended up on the third floor across from the bus stop...we were able to see a lot of the fireworks from Epcot so we loved this location, and wanted it again. He said that all he could tell me was it is on the third floor across from the bus stop. Great for convenience, both for getting to the bus, the parking lot, and the walkway to DHS. He just couldn't tell me the room number for security reasons, which I already knew.

Eric came to join us as we were finishing up, and I told him the location of our room and that the CM behind the desk was from NY. Luggage was all checked in, and all we had to do was call when we got into our room. We headed over to concierge to have our park tickets placed onto our KTTW cards for convenience. We had 7-day base tickets that I had purchased several months ago from Undercover Tourist. The concierge gladly put them onto our KTTW cards, wrote "void" on each actual ticket and said we can keep them as souvenirs.

Originally, we were supposed to head right to the WDW Speedway so that Eric could do his ride-along at the Richard Petty Driving Experience (I gave him a gift card for Father's Day). However, he discovered on the ride down to Tampa, that he had left the gift card at home. I called RPDE and asked if they could look up the gift card when we got there and they said no, that they need the actual card. They also said that the card never expires and he could use it on a future trip. But, we are not going back until July 2014. Eric was so mad at himself for forgetting to bring it. :headache: Then, I said that maybe my father could look for it in our house, since they were going to be joining us on July 29th, and we could fit in the ride-along later in the trip. I called my father and he found the gift card and put it in his wallet to bring down to us.

We originally had a 1:05 lunch ADR at Kona, so we could go after the ride-along. Since we weren't going to the Speedway that day, while we were on the road to Tampa, I called Disney Dining to cancel the Kona ADR, and change it to Bongos Cuban Cafe because Eric and I decided we would go to Downtown Disney on the first day instead. One night, we had an ADR for dinner at The Wave but I changed that to dinner at Kona since we love Kona so much.

Anyway, we headed to the bus stop to go to DTD and we didn't wait long at all. We shared a bus with Yacht & Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin. The bus stopped at Typhoon Lagoon first, then we headed to DTD Marketplace where we got off. We walked around a bit, and I knew I had to stop here first for a snack because we still had time before lunch:

1af9c93f.jpg

I ended up getting the creat your own pretzels, which came with 3 pretzel rods. The boys each had one, and Eric & I shared the third. The boys each got dark chocolate dipped, covered in M&Ms, drizzled with white chocolate. Eric and I shared one dipped in dark chocolate, covered in graham crumbs and drizzled with milk chocolate. They were delicious, but cost $10. Hey, it was something I had to do once! :rotfl2: The boys also enjoyed watching the CM make them.

After that, we did some shopping. We went to the World of Disney Store to buy some Mickey ears...I got the Disney Princess ones, and the boys instead opted for Perry the Platypus hats. Eric decided that he would wear his Goofy hat from last time, and didn't buy anything for himself. Here's a shot from outside:

06c72055.jpg

We also headed to Guest Relations while we were in the Marketplace area, so I could purchase the Tables in Wonderland card. There are 3 ways to qualify for this: 1, if you are a Florida resident; 2, if you hold an annual pass (regardless of residency) and 3, if you are a DVC member (regardless of residency). The third was just recently added as a perk for DVC members. It costs $100 unless you are an AP holder, in which case it costs $75. We had lots of qualifying restaurants planned, and none of the dining plans fit our plans, so we opted to buy the TiW card for $100. We did this on our last trip (I upgraded to an AP first though), and it saved us a lot of money. You get 20% off your entire bill, including alcohol, at participating restaurants, and almost every TS on property participates, including ones in DTD and some at the Swan/Dolphin. Then they add an automatic 18% gratuity. We find this all so easy, it works for us very well.

After walking around, we walked into Pleasure Island, and then made our way to the West Side where Bongos is. Post #33 here has the link to my dining report, and my review of Bongos is on there!

After lunch, we went into a few other shops. Here's a pic of Eric & the boys at the Harley Davidson shop:

bc0e1709.jpg

It started to rain. Ahh, that all-too-familiar Florida afternoon rain we always run into on our summer trips! :rotfl2: We broke out the ponchos (this time we had Eric's with us too! :thumbsup2), and made our way to Pleasure Island. It started coming down hard, and I suggested we stop in Cooke's of Dublin and try a fried candy bar. It wasn't crowded in there, and Eric ordered a fried Snickers. It took a while for them to bring it to us, but that was OK because it was raining hard, plus we had a table so we were fine and so were the kids. Eric ate most of the bar, I had a bite or 2, and it wasn't as crispy as I thought it would be but tasted good. The rain got lighter, and we headed out and back to the Marketplace because I had told Eric that I NEEDED to get ice cream at Ghirardelli! :lmao:

We went to Ghirardelli, and they give $1 off a sundae for DVC members. We all shared a brownie sundae and I added a side of warm peanut butter. It was GREAT!!! :thumbsup2

At around 2:30pm, I got a text that our room was ready. We were pleasantly surprised that it was ready ahead of the guaranteed time of 4pm, and decided to head to the bus and go back to BWV. We were also amazed that we got the same exact villa as last time, 3119! :goodvibes So we knew we would have a good view of the Epcot fireworks at night. :thumbsup2

The bus ride took an hour! First we stopped at Typhoon Lagoon to pick people up, then the other resorts. The Yacht Club, the Beach Club, The Swan, the Dolphin, and Boardwalk was last. We went into the villa...we told the boys it was the exact same one as last time and they thought this was funny! :)

I took some pics after we got settled:

Afterwards, I headed downstairs to the Screen Door General Store to get some milk. We had gone to Wal-Mart the day before in Tampa to pick up some cereal for breakfast most mornings at WDW. The milk was the exact same price as it was on our last trip in July 2010...$2.95 for a half gallon. I know this is more expensive than the supermarket, but we really did not feel like leaving property just to get some milk.

We relaxed in the villa for a while, and I put up a load of laundry from the first few days we traveled. I love having the washer/dryer in the villa...a LOT less packing for the trip, and we come home with minimal laundry to do! :thumbsup2

The only issue is that the dryer seems to take forever, but it works so that works for me! ;)

We had a 6:25pm ADR for Kouzzina. I made that ADR because it was right there, and so convenient. Eric was very happy not to have to travel to a restaurant and just be able to walk downstairs and onto the Boardwalk for dinner our first night. We headed down at 6pm. I will post a review for Kouzzina really soon on my dining report, probably later today.

After a fantastic dinner, we went out onto the Boardwalk for a little while. We took in all the beautiful sights, and it was just so nice to be back and have a full 10 days ahead of us to enjoy. We went back into the room in the evening...after I picked up a cupcake from BW Bakery (which will also be on my dining report), got the kids ready for bed, and watched the fireworks from our balcony in our PJs! Here are a couple of shots of the fireworks from our room:

After the fireworks, the boys headed to bed. We were pretty tired too, and had a big day ahead of us. So we also went to bed early.

Next up: A day at Sea World! Stay tuned...;)

excellent 1st disney day :thumbsup2, and being able to see the fireworks, how cool is that .

never been to Ghirardellis but definately going next year, have already chosen my ice cream !!

looking forward to more .

Great First Day...DD and I felt like we were walking along side of you and your family...:rotfl2: Wonderful view of the fireworks. Tell us more!!!!:thumbsup2

That is great that you got the very same room and the view of the fireworks looks very nice. It's always nice when you room is ready early. Doesn't happen to us too often though. Lol.

Great update!

I'm so glad you brought up the UT tickets. I was wondering how it would work with our KTTW cards since we've never bought through UT before. Do you know off hand, how it will work when we change resorts? What will happen with our tickets? Or do they only place so many days on our first set of KTTW cards and place the remaining on the final set?

Okay another question. You mentioned you got a discount at Ghiradelli's for being DVC members. How do you show you're a DVC member? I ask because when we first signed our contract, they gave me and DH both DVC Membership cards that had our name on them, but no barcode. The next day, at a restaurant over at Disney's California Adventure, I asked if they took DVC discounts and they said yes. So I showed the membership card I was originally given and she said, "Oh no, not that card, it's another one." Okay, didn't think anything more of it, since I assumed something more official would come in the mail. 10 weeks later, they mailed me a membership card that was EXACTLY the same one as they had given me in the very beginning. :confused3 What am I missing? What does a 'real' DVC membership card look like? Would like to get some discounts while at the World in December...

Thanks Bonnie!

Aww that's so sweet! Just wait till you see how much I post about Sea World too! ;)

I know, the same room totally surprised us! It really was like coming back home, since it was only our second DVC trip! We love having the view of the fireworks. Makes it nice and relaxing to see it every night.

I never did a split stay before, so I can't help you with that, sorry. Maybe someone else here can chime in and answer your question? :confused3

Don't have my DVC card with me right now, but I don't think it even has a bar code. I remember them looking at the membership number and entering it. I also remember this happening at the Dolphin when we went to their CS for lunch one day (we get a 20% discount there as DVC members). The read DVC card is dark blue, has the DVC logo on it, your name and membership number, and the year you became a member. I don't remember if it has the home resort on it.

Also, our KTTW cards said "DVC-Room Only" on them, so they should automatically know you are a DVC member.

Hi, my dear DIS friends! I wrote my review of Kouzzina on my dining report...come on by and check it out! :goodvibes

Enjoying your trip report. We go to WDW every even year and we always drive, it's about a 15-16 hour drive for us.

Enjoying your trip report. We go to WDW every even year and we always drive, it's about a 15-16 hour drive for us.

We go every even year too! It's funny, because when we are there, at the end of the 10 days I feel like I'm ready to go home, and I can live without it for 2 years. But then once we're home and unpacked, after about a day or 2 I start to feel "WDW Withdrawal" kick in! :lmao:

We go on one big vacation per year, and I'm not a person who could only go to WDW for that every single time, so the way for us to do it is every 2 years. It also makes it very special, because by the time the trip gets very close, we get so excited because we haven't been there for a while. Although, I did tell Eric that ideally, I would love to go every year IF we could do a second vacation every year in addition. That would still give us the same variety and we could do WDW annually. But, that would require more points since we wouldn't stay in a studio with the kids, and we like staying 10 nights. If we went every year we would only be able to stay 5 nights in a studio and that is too short for us at this point. Our first trip to Pop Century (pre-DVC membership) was in 2008, and we stayed 5 nights. That was when we decided that we needed twice that amount of time!

The other thing I like about going every 2 years is that the kids grow A LOT in that amount of time at these ages, and each of our 3 trips so far have been very different from each other. I remember in 2008 on the first trip when neither of the boys was big enough for rides like Soarin' and Test Track, and Eric and I had to do the baby swap! We were grateful they had that as an option, but it would have definitely been more fun to ride with someone else. Now, Philip is big enough for all the rides, and Jonathan is big enough for most of them. He just couldn't go on Space Mountain or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

Thank goodness there's the DIS for passing the time and still getting to enjoy WDW through the eyes of others between vacations! Also, I book 11 months in advance (DVC home resort) so the planning starts about a year from now, and that always makes the vacation seem closer! ;)

Hi everyone! Last night I started to write about our Sea World day (and got pretty far into the review too) and then I pressed the wrong button and it got erased. :headache: It was late already and I was upset that all my stuff got erased. I think from now on, I will write my reviews on Word and then copy and paste them.

In a little while, I'm accompanying my sister and my niece so that my sister can rent her a saxophone. I'm going to teach her how to play! She played clarinet in 5th grade this past year, but now she is going into middle school and would like to learn the sax so she can play it in the band. She has to audition so I'm going to teach her. I played both clarinet and sax in middle school, and the sax was very easy to learn one year after starting clarinet. I taught myself so she should be fine for sure! :)

So, I will be back later on to share our day at Sea World. See you soon! :goodvibes

I hate when that happens. Then Alison told me to start doing it on Word, which has helped me from getting frustrated when my internet decides to unexpectedly shut down. :headache:

Have fun today and can't wait to hear about Sea World!

Hello my friends!

So we woke up at 6am and got ready, then woke the boys and got them ready so that we can leave at 7am. They popped out of bed and were ready to go in no time!

085a3b52.jpg

We had a 7:30am ADR at Boma for breakfast (opening time there). The idea was to drive to AKL, have breakfast, then drive to Sea World for when it opened at 9am. This worked out great time wise, for any of you that want to enjoy a sit-down breakfast at a resort and then drive to a park off property. Most resort TS breakfasts begin at 7:30am.

I will review Boma breakfast, probably some time today, on my dining report, promise!

After breakfast we headed to Sea World. We got free preferred parking because of our Sesame Place Super Grover (Platinum) Season passes. This was great, it was right by the entrance to the park! So we knew ahead of time that if we hit rain again, it wouldn’t be a far walk from the gate to the car. We got to the park minutes after the 9am opening.

d0bbb51e.jpg

Eric took the boys to the rest room first, then we were on our merry way. The first attraction I had planned to do was Turtle Trek. This is a new attraction, where you get to view some sea turtles and then see a 3D movie about them. Since it was new, I knew we had to go see it early. It was pretty far into the park, and on the way we got to watch some dolphin feeding going on, which the boys enjoyed seeing. Then, we headed to Turtle Trek. There was a sign outside that read “No rest rooms in this attraction”. We asked the boys if they needed one and they said no. We believed them because they had just gone by the entrance when we got to Sea World. Oh how wrong we were! We get into the attraction, and the guide was explaining some interesting facts about sea turtles while we got to view them. He said that in a few minutes we would get to see the 3D movie that takes you through the life of a sea turtle and what they regularly experience. As soon as he says this, Philip starts to do that all-too-familiar dance, and gets that look on his face. I knew right away…he had to go to the bathroom. Eric said that Jonathan and I should stay there and enjoy the movie, and he would take Philip to the bathroom. So, unfortunately Eric and Philip missed the movie.

The 3D movie was cool. We stood in a large room with a 360 screen all around us, wearing 3D glasses. The movie really did take you through the life of a sea turtle, and it was great. Jonathan said he enjoyed it and seemed to really like it, although he did cling to me at certain parts.
Eric and Philip met us outside the attraction. There were 2 shows we absolutely HAD to see…one was the dolphin show, and the other was the shamu whale show. The dolphin show was scheduled for either 10 or 10:30 (can’t remember) and the shamu show for 11:30 or 11:45 (can’t remember exactly). We had some time before we needed to head to the theater, so we went over to the area where you can feed the stingrays. The boys expressed interest in feeding them and we decided this would be nice for them to do. Then, we found out that you feed them shrimp…so because of his allergy to shellfish, Philip couldn’t participate. He was a little upset but he is also very aware of his allergy and understands completely that he can’t touch shrimp. He was just frustrated and disappointed that stingrays happen to eat shrimp. Jonathan got to participate. He fed a stingray, which came right up to him to grab the shrimp, and he got startled. So he asked Eric to finish with the last couple of shrimp, and he just watched. It was very cute.

After the stingray feeding, we headed to the rest room so that we could then go to the theater to see the show with the dolphins. There were plenty of seats that were not in the “soak zone”, but not really any seats in the shade. So we had to sit in the sun. The boys complained that they were hot at first, but we all drank plenty of water and we were fine. Philip was worried he would get a sunburn but I reminded him that he had #50 sunblock on…of course none of us got burnt!

The show was amazing. They not only had dolphins, but they also had divers doing lots of tricks, and they also involved some birds at one point. It was truly spectacular and not to be missed. I believe the name of the show is “Blue Horizons”. Here are some terrific shots of the dolphins:

6e4bfb25.jpg

After the show, we took another rest room break, and then we headed to the skyride so we can view the whole park from the air. We waited in line for about 10 minutes, and we were close to the front already, when once again, Philip started doing the dance and had that look on his face. Yep! Another rest room trip. By now the line behind us for the skyride was very long, and Eric said that Jonathan and I should just ride without them. He took Philip to the bathroom. I know it seems like Philip might have a problem with the bathroom, but his pre-school thought the same thing a couple of years ago. We got really nervous and brought him to the doctor right away. He tested negative for diabetes, and they sent him for a sonogram of the bladder. It was discovered that his bladder is on the small side, that’s it. Still normal in size, just on the smaller end of normal.

The skyride was great! Jonathan and I got to watch one of the larger roller coasters a couple of times, and we saw the whole park. Excellent views! We saw the theater where the shamu whale show was going to be held, which we were heading to shortly.

After the skyride, Eric and Philip met us outside. We went to the shark tunnel, which was very cool. Last year we did this at the Atlantis in the Bahamas as a shore excursion on a cruise. We did a tour of the Atlantis and part of it was a tunnel that had sharks in it. So, this was reminiscent of that and was just as great! The boys enjoyed it as well, and they were pointing out the different types of sharks. We take them to the aquarium here a lot and we always see the shark feedings. There are people at the aquarium who point out the different types of sharks, so they have learned a lot from our trips there.
After the shark tunnel, we took another rest room break and drank some water. Then we headed to the theater for the shamu whale show. We didn’t want to sit in the soak zone, and it was difficult to find a good seat. This is a very popular show (we were 20 minutes early) and it was the first show of the day. We noticed a section that was roped off, with an employee standing there guarding. The sign said “Reserved for Platinum passholders”. I said to Eric, “Wait a minute, our passes say ‘platinum’ on them. It’s worth a shot to ask if we belong here.” So, I asked the guy, showed him all 4 of our passes, and he opened the rope and let us in. Excellent seats, behind the soak zone, AND in the shade! The show was fantastic, definitely not to be missed if you go to Sea World! The whales were amazing, and their trainers were excellent. I got some nice shots:

After the show, we headed to the kiddie ride area. The boys rode the kiddie coaster with Eric and they loved it. We picked up some Dippin’ Dots to snack on (none of us were hungry for lunch because of a large breakfast at Boma!). The rest of the kiddie rides were exactly like the ones at Sesame Place, but with different theming. The kids really weren’t that interested and asked if we could go back to the hotel and go in the pool in the afternoon instead. Eric and I were fine with that. We had seen the dolphins, the dolphin show and the whale show, and these were the main reasons we came to Sea World, because we can’t see those things at home. It was 12:30, no rain yet, and no rain clouds in sight so we figured sure, we will go back for a swim.

So, we headed out, back to BWV, changed, had some snacks that I had brought from home, and went to the pool. We got a table with an umbrella right by the kiddie pool, where we could also keep an eye on Philip in the big pool. Philip knows how to swim, but Jonathan doesn’t yet. Jonathan enjoyed the kiddie pool very much with Eric, and I took Philip into the big pool. Philip went on the water slide and he enjoyed it. He went on a few more times. After about an hour, it looked like it was going to rain. So, we packed up and headed back into the room. About 15 minutes after we got back into the villa, it started raining. We felt very lucky that we dodged that one! :worship:

We all showered and changed, then we relaxed a bit. We headed to dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, which was very convenient since it was a short walk to get there! I will also review Yachtsman as soon as I can on my dining report!

After Yachtsman, we headed back to the Boardwalk and just took everything in. We got some dessert at Seashore Sweets, which was very good. Eric had a waffle cone, the boys had regular ice cream cones, and I had a big cookie. We sat outside and watched one of the entertainers on the Boardwalk doing card tricks with a few people from the audience. He was VERY funny too!
We went back into the villa, got ready for bed, and watched the 9pm fireworks. It was really great that we didn’t have a theme park or breakfast ADR to go to the following day, knowing we could just wake up whenever we felt like it. I love the parks, but I like those “free” days too! :thumbsup2

Overall, we enjoyed our day and our experience at Sea World. I definitely think it's a place everyone should go to at least once, and I know a lot of people who return year after year. For us, we feel like we don't ever have to go back there, unless the boys get really into marine bio when they are much older and that is their main interest. Otherwise we are not planning to return in the near future.

Up next…what did we do on our “free” day? Hmm…stay tuned! :happytv:

Glad the boys got to enjoy Sea World. Too bad Philip couldn't stick around to see the 3D movie.

I think it's amazing that he understands his allergy and he knows what he can and can't touch/eat, especially at that age! I don't think I would be able to handle it as well as him, even now at 28! :rotfl:

When I went to Sea World, back in 2009, you fed the stingrays fish (looked like anchovies) so Philip would have been able to feed them those, I think. Wonder why they changed it?:confused3

I felt bad that both Philip and Eric missed the 3D movie too. But they still enjoyed the time at Sea World.

The reason that Philip understands his allergy so well is because I am neurotic about it. :rotfl2: I have drilled it into him since he was diagnosed at 5 years old, that he can't touch shellfish, and that anyone eating it around him must wash their hands thoroughly before touching him or playing with him. My nieces are very good with this because my sister has also taught them how serious it can be. Unforunately (you probably remember from my 2010 dining report), we he started to have a reaction to the steaming crab legs at Cape May Cafe, 2 years ago and that was how we found out his allergy is also airborne. We walked in and he immediately felt stuffy and his eyes got red. We left right away and within 2 minutes of standing back in the lobby he was fine. The manager handled it so well, and offered to get us into any other WDW restaurant. That was how we discovered Kouzzina was so good...we went there. I got her name wrote a letter to Disney about how wonderful she was and how we felt comfortable bringing our son with a food allergy to WDW.

I wish it was just anchovies, because he is not allergic to regular fish, just shellfish. I don't know why they changed it because the last time I was at Sea World before this trip was in 1989! ;)

Hi everyone! Look at the new ticker in my signature!!! :woohoo::cheer2::dance3:

Yes, next summer's vacation is officially booked!! We had been planning to go on a cruise next year with my parents, sister and nieces, because next July my parents will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary! :) We priced a few cruises leaving out of NY and we all decided on the Carnival Splendor 8-night Caribbean cruise! It goes to San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos! And we have 4 full days at sea, which we love! We leave July 20, 2013. We got 2 connecting inside cabins for me, Eric and the boys. My parents and sister will be booking shortly and looking into possibly staying in balcony cabins on the same deck as us. We are on deck 6 out of 14 decks, mid-ship, very centrally located to everything. So happy! :goodvibes

Even with being excited about next July's cruise and wanting to find out everything I possibly can, I am still in Disney mode and going to finish my trip report and dining report before I start my crazy cruise planning! :lmao: The only reason I didn't post today until now is because the kids woke up late (9:00!!), I made a light version of tonga toast for breakfast (with light wheat bread) and we had 100% Kona coffee with it in the french press. I made plain french toast for the boys (their request). So we took our time with breakfast this morning, and then I had to go to continue teaching my niece saxophone. She is doing great with it so far, only her second day, and she is practicing a lot at home. But she already plays the clarinet so this is coming pretty easy to her, and she reads music so I didn't have to first teach her that. I am so proud of her, and we are having a lot of fun! In addition, last night I started teaching Eric to speak Spanish. He thinks (and I agree) that it would be beneficial for him to be proficient in Spanish so he could communicate with some of his students' parents better. So I promised I would help him out this summer.

I will report back later today about our "free" day at WDW after Sea World. I can't believe I'm up to day 7 of vacation and haven't even gotten to a Disney theme park! I actually said the same thing to Eric when we were there! :rotfl:
