Was surprised to read that capri's might not be allowed in Palo. Is that true?

Mine can no way be confused with shorts!

I would have to buy new summer pants :(

As far as I know, you will not be allowed in Palo with capris. Palo is NOT a casual restaurant and capris are a little too casual... They wont even let guys in without a jacket...

I believe they suggest a pantsuit, or a skirt, or dress for ladies

and suit, or sport coat and slacks for dudes.

As long as you dress them up I can't see a problem. There was a lady dining with the Captain last week in Palo who was wearing very short dress shorts. Maybe it was because of her dining companion, but no one said a word to her!

My husband wore a golf shirt to dinner, no one said anything to him either. He was definitely one of the better dressed! We've seen some interesting choices (untucked Hawaiian shirts with Dockers, skin tight gold lame backless dresses that were letting it alllll hang out, Pirate costumes)

Last year men were allowed into Palo with nice button down dress shirts and no tie. At least no one said anything to my husband about not having a jacket.

Yes you can wear capris. I wore dressy black ones for brunch and dinner and did not feel out of place or under dressed at all.

In fact, we forgot the no shorts rule for men and while I was talking to the Head Waiter, he explained that women CAN wear shorts and he explained that they felt that because some skirts are shorter than some shorts, that shorts are acceptable for women. This was at brunch this past summer on the Fantasy. This information was offered to me, I didn't ask. Now, I think they were referring to something like a dressy black linen pair of shorts, down to the knees, not shorts you might wear around the pool.

    From DCl website:

Dress code: At Palo dress pants and shirt or jacket for men and a dress or pantsuit for women. Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

    NO CAPRIS ALLOWED

Capris are allowed in the MDR

Regardless of that, I wore them, nothing was said, there was no discussion about what I had on, no one gave me a second look and I did not feel out of place at all.

I won't have them on for Palo dinner as we are going on formal night. I was hoping to wear them for lunch. I live in a very hot place with a very long summer so I wear a lot of capris!

    Thanks all!

I have worn capris to brunch, tea and dinner without any issues. I wore khaki ones to brunch and, black ones to dinner. Both pairs were cotton "Docker" style. I wore appropriate shirts with them for the venue. My most recent Palo experience in these pants was October 2012 on the Hawaii cruise.

Keep in mind, my experience maybe different than what others have experienced.

While I enjoy the Dis, no one but DCL can make the decision on whether or not your outfit is acceptable. I say wear your capris.

I had planned on wearing capris to brunch, so I am finding this thread quite interesting. Thanks for all the info.

You didn't say how long a cruise you'll be on. They are usually a bit stricter on the 7 day and longer trips. And it 's either dinner, brunch or high tea.

Sadly, :sad1: no more high tea. Only brunch and dinner.

Just off the Dream - seems to me Palos as become causal dinning. Most men did not have suit jackets on (open collar shirts and Polo shirts) and the ladies were 'very' casual. Did not see any jeans or shorts but Palos is differently no 'dress-up' anymore! I guess the dress code has been relaxed. :sad2:

They haven't required men to wear jackets in Palo for many years.
I have heard of them turning people away who were wearing jeans.
Brunch has always been more casual than dinner.

Capris are fine. I have seen countless number of women wearing them. All looked perfectly acceptable

Hubby did not wear a jacket last week to palo dinner. Most men did not

They will turn u away in shorts or jeans. Have seen that happen a few times.

i saw them turn a fellow in shorts away at brunch at Palo. I have worn dressy capris and I was very comfortable. I would not have been in casual capris. Decide for yourself and then enjoy! If you are comfortable with what you are wearing, do not worry about everyone else!!!

Edit: I just bought a very dressy pair of capris and a top to match - way nicer than any sundress I own. I would not hesitate to wear them to the nicest restaurant in town (or Palo)! Black tie - no, but nice date night dressy - yes!!!

Disney's dress code is crystal clear. Palo is well known for enforcing dress code, and such enforcement is appreciated by many who dine there.

Others say they have worn them with no problem, but be prepared to be asked to leave and change. There appears to be a good chance you won't be turned away, but why deliberately wear what they ask you not to wear? If you follow their guidelines I guarantee you won't be turned away!! And you will love eating at Palo.
