No Buy ~~ March 2013

New to the thread. I'm going to try a modified version of this.

I have 20 work days in March ... I'm going for 10 no buy lunch days. This is really big for me since I buy lunch every day.

So far.. better than I thought on the lunches - 6 for 6

3/1 - food from 2/28 shopping trip (steamed asparagus w cheese)
3/4 - food from 2/28 shopping trip (steamed carrots)
3/5 - at training class - office provided lunch - unexpected perk I found out about on 3/4 :cool1:
3/6 - at training class - office provided lunch - unexpected perk I found out about on 3/4
3/7 - at training class - office provided lunch - unexpected perk I found out about on 3/4:hyper:
3/8 - work from home - snow storm - leftover salad I scavenged from work :dance3:

Too bad I lost my train pass :headache: and had to pony-up an extra $220. - Well I may have to up my no lunch days.

You got lucky with the provided lunches.....nice bonus perk! Love those.

We did out 1 night this week (Tuesday), but I had 2 free kids meals & $5 off a $25 purchase, they used all 3! Dinner with dessert, 2 adults, 2 kids $16 + tip. Woo Hoo! Of course, now it's Friday afternoon & what am I going to make for dinner tonight, esp. without using meat?

3/11 - went out (I felt a little guilty)
3/12 - went out again (I felt a lot more guilty)
3/13 - brought salad
3/14 - ate the other half of 3/13 salad
3/15 - ambitious departmental project due :crowded: - office is buying lunch ::yes::

I NEVER get this many work lunches - I will have to pledge to bring lunch more often.
Posting here definitely makes me think harder and feel more guilty when I cheat and buy lunch so

THANKS !!!!!!!

Caught my updates up today...

Today was a big spend day because of things that needed to be taken care of...

55 for prom tix
38 for track sweatshirt/t-shirt
groceries
walmart needs
dollar tree needs

tomorrow will be 40 for DD's gas to return to campus..
Monday will be 300 for a car repair...

Hope everyone is doing okay with things...

Just added up gas for last week:scared:, over budget, guess I need to stop driving so much....hopefully it will work out in the end.

How's everyone doing?

Took a few hits to the pocketbook this week but I look at it as a way to do much better next month!!

Stopped by for a little inspiration on a snowy, grey Sunday afternoon.

I'm planning to join you in April.

For March, I haven't spent more than my allowance and I haven't bought much silly/impulsive stuff. But, it has definitely not been a "no buy" month.

One week left to hit your targets. . .GO for it ladies.

March was horrible for me because of all the new clothes I needed to buy for my new job. I expect April to be better, because my income is going up :)

So, I did good on dinners in. We are at max of 1 night per week & is usually with neighbors, so social life & dinner out all mixed up in one.

I have bought no HABA or cleaning agents, nothing except groceries. (Do need to go get cat food though & soon!) I haven't bought any non-food items or clutter, exempting 1 scrapbook of latest Disney trip....I don't count that!

All this should mean our spending is on track & IRAs were brought current: HAHA, someone or something had it in for us as car needed $2500 worth of work, which means credit card is still high for the month! Ugh, hopeful April will be better!

Well after shopping for Easter, I am over budget in a few areas. Hopefully April will be better.

March was pretty successful for me (at least on this task)

IRA contributions were sent off today!
Done better than expected with eating home, average of 1.5 meals per week out.
No HABA or cleaning products purchased. (Still so much to use up so I will carry this one to Infinity & beyond! Oops, I mean, April & beyond!)
No clutter purchased, however, I did splurge on a few non-essentials on an Ikea trip.

How did everyone else do?
