Today has been our busiest registration day so far!!!
We have 81 people registered as of right now for Saturday's main event.
The Podcast Team and their families are not included in this number- so we are rapidly approaching 100 people for the event!!!!!
Only a few more hours left to register and get the bonus auction tickets!!

Yay! DIS Meets are so much fun- you will get to meet so many new friends. And seeing a Podcast Recording in person is fabulous!

Do I need to let you know if advance if I have something to donate for the auction or can I just bring it with me that day?
I am excited for this and so grateful for the people organizing this. Thank you Nikki, Linda, etc. The last one I was at was the Perkins on in Flemington where we successfully raised enough $ for Nikki to eat bagels and lox on her ABD trip. What a great day! Before that was Bridgewater Mall (Rainforest Cafe), I believe.
I'm excited to meet members of the podcast crew. I was able to meet Kathy briefly on a trip in 2009, can't wait to meet most of the rest.
Eeek! I can barely contain myself and there's still a little less than 2 months.
As a co-host of the Virginia Dis Meet, I just want to say that NO Meet is too small, too large, too simple or too extravagant. THAT IS BECAUSE, the Meets are for all of us to meet and hang out with each other. AND NOW help a great cause.
Or think about it this way....your Meet helped other Disers meet each other and perhaps have lasting friendships.
SO....for this Meet enjoy and have fun. I am actually looking forward to attending a Meet I wasn't "stressed" out about for 100 days. I just want to come and enjoy and not worry about if everyone is having a good time.
Do we have a more detailed listing of Saturdays schedule of events? Sorry I know it's still early.
Hopefully others are wondering about a few of these things too.
We usually arrive early where ever we go. Will we have to wait until 12:00 to enter the building?
What time is the buffet lunch being served? Start time for us early birds and End time for those that might run late.
Guessing the silent auction is going on during lunch until the podcast taping?
And finally what time do they think the podcast taping will begin? For those really running late.
Sorry so many questions but I'm a planner, of course I am a DISer after all.
Steve- More information and requests for auctions items will come very soon. We will want to have everything beforehand and will let people know how to arrange that. I can pick your item up in person this month! So you can give it right to me.
All excellent questions. Yes- there will be an itinerary as we get closer. Since we are still 2 months away, we are still tweaking. I would imagine we will release a detailed itinerary once registration has closed- so early April.
I would encourage people to join us at the Hilton for the weekend if possible. Friday evening will be lots of fun!
Saturday- yes, the event will start at 12 noon- and no, we are not planning for anyone to get into the main room much before then. We will have a table in the lobby for people to pick up t-shirts, tickets, etc. I imagine that might start about 11am or so? Not sure yet. We are hoping for good weather so everyone can hang around outside. (keeps your fingers crossed!)
We have not gotten the details about lunch timing or even picked the menu yet.
But you are correct- the auctions will take place from arrival until just before the Podcast starts. Winners will be announced at the end of the Podcast (and MUST be present to win!)
We have other activities besides eating, shopping and listening planned- so stay tuned.
Saturday night is shaping up to be a bowling night. The lanes are very near our event and hotel.
Sunday morning is breakfast together in a local diner. Followed by shopping in a variety of locations. Historic Somerville has some really cool shops- antiques. kitschy stuff and more! Plus there is a regular mall right by the hotel.
In the meantime- buy a t-shirt, watch the boards and start meeting everyone who is coming.
All the important stuff will be announced right here!
I put information in the first post of our thread about donations for those interested. I was going to put it up earlier in the week, but knew that everyone was concentrating on registering. You guys are total DISers are heart.
Linda, I could not have said things better myself. Get to know each other! We have over 80 coming to the main event on Saturday and the numbers are adding up for Friday and Sunday!!!
Question about the Saturday night gathering. Are there pool tables as well? Last time I bowled for charity it took me a month for my knee to return to normal.
I have never been to this bowling alley, Jeff, but did a Google search. It looks like other AMF alleys do have pool. I did see a pic of the inside of this one and noticed a full bar, air hockey and other games, etc.

Well congratulations after six years lurking on the boards and listening to the podcast, I finally delurked because the registration form asked for my DISboard user name. I took that as a sign to make it official and join the boards. I am looking forward to the meet. And thank you to all the organizers.
