The last time I checked the price of a 1/2 gallon of milk at the food court/gift shop was the same as Garden Grocer. I used Garden Grocer for food, water, liquid hand soap and sun screen. I bought milk at the resort. The fridge isn't teany tiny-it is a rectangle- not the the tiny square size ones. I never tried to put a gallon in it.

We thought the food court was pretty good and convenient. My oldest was 9 when we stayed there. We swam in the pools but didn't do too many of the activities. I would think your 13 year old would like the extra room. The rooms at BC & BW rooms are smaller than the Poly rooms you've stayed at in the past. I would think your 13 year old would really like the extra bathroom as well.

We stayed in the family suites in 2008 and really liked them but had decided to stay Poly & BWI in 2009 & 2010 for the convenience of the location.

When we were at the BWI last summer we thought the take out from Boardwalk Joe's and the take out pizza was pretty good. We were staying in a Club Level room so we had access to the lounge for snacks and drinks so that helped at ton but we really didn't miss the food court.

    Good luck with your decision!

upon further thought, I realized I'm going to have to get 2 deliveries -- 1 for arrival and then another a few days later. We're there 8 nights and my kids eat a LOT of fruit so there's no way the fruit will be good for 8 days. so I'll just order a couple 1/2 gallons for each delivery. Thanks!

There is so much pool activity for the teens there. Usually around April vaca and towrds the end of April the cheerleading competitions are going on there. The teens love it. Both my DDs would rather stay at ASM than any other resort. We stay there all the time. We are heading back in April for vacation.

another question about the kitchen supplies - I know they give you paper plates, cups, plastic utensils, etc. Do they also give you real diningware such as bowls for cereal and mugs for tea? 1 more month and we'll be there - our first family trip to WDW! TIA! :worship:

We were there earlier this month. A full gallon of milk fit fine for us without removing shelves. We still had plenty of space for bottled water, fruit, deli meat and stuff.

They are just paper products, but there are paper bowls (they are like the ones that you will see in the food court and we used them for cereal, yogurt, etc.) and two types of cups - styrofoam for hot drinks and paper cups for cold drinks.

There are also paper towels (handy for napkins).

    Enjoy!

I read somewhere (probably 40 pages ago on this thread) that the bowls they give you are pretty tiny. If you want something more durable/sizable you may want to stuff a few in your luggage.

All I can say is THANK YOU!!!! I have been debating a trip in either August or December and my 13 year old DD wants to stay in a Deluxe Resort. As previously stated, she doesn't pay the bills ;) :scared1: After reading through this amazing thread, I think we just might be booking ASMu. Now I just have to hope for Free Dining and we're in!

Thanks again for all of the great information and awesome photos everyone shared. :yay:

Just booked our next WDW trip in December 2011 at an ASMU Family suite :cool1:
We stayed at Pop in 2 connecting rooms last December and really liked it but we want to try the Family suite this time. With the PIN offer, it was a great deal

Can't wait! I'm so excited :yay:

I really like the layout of the family suites and I think this is a great option for families whether you have one child or four (like me)! I hear often that the hotel rooms are just a place to sleep and that you are in the parks most of the day; but for me if I am going to be staying somewhere for a week I need a separate living room type set up with a sofa to sit on for the hours that we will not be in the parks. Even though the kids will sleep on the pull out beds in the living room at night, if we come back to the suite for an afternoon break we can put our 2 yr old down for a nap in the separate bedroom and still have the living room to hang out in. I don't think the family suites are a bad price either. A lot of people say it is cheaper just to get two standard value rooms, but when you add on the cost to get a room in a preferred building location and the daily cost to rent a mini fridge, that is basically the same price as the family suite. I also don't want to take the chance of not getting connecting rooms since they aren't guaranteed  Heaven knows that having a coffeemaker in the family suite (which you don't get in the value resort rooms) to make my morning coffee is the deal breaker for me

well, we will be there in 2 weeks so :dance3:

Is there a toaster in the room? I always assumed there was, but then i was looking at pictures and didn't see one. I'm hoping so for toast & bagels in the morning.

No toaster-you can use the one in the food court but I just brought a cheap one (under $10) and left it there when I left.

I always travel with my Target toaster and hot water pot. $8.88 each. The toaster had a nice attachment for egg poacher.

Yes, there are elevators in every building. We love the ASMU suites! Way better than 2 regular rooms. Love the close proximity to food court, buses, front desk, pools, etc. The room was super nice. Loved having the kitchen. The rooms are set up so nicely! Can't wait to stay there again.
