ok so for my husbands birthday I am surprising him with a 3 night trip to Vegas.
I secretly talked to his boss to make sure he got the time off and got my dad to watch our son. We haven't been away just the two of us in seven YEARS.
I kind of have my heart set on the Venetian though it is expensive.
I am going all out, Though in LA we are flying and I'm having a limo pick us up from the airport and planning some romantic time at the spa.
I know he wants to see Blue Man's group but I can't decide on the other show!
I am pretty sure he wouuld want Penn and teller but they are at the RIo off the strip (right?)
Last time I was in Vegas was 2007 with 88 teenagers so we never saw the strip and stayed at the end at Circus Circus.

So....am I wrong about the Venetian? Anyone recommend anything else?
ANy shows or something special we should see.

    SO EXCITED!!
He's not going to know what hit him, he's gonna get home from work and I gonna throw the suitcase at him and say "Pack, car for the airport leaves in an hour" and he won't know where he is going until we get to the airport!

The Venetian is very nice, they even have the gondolas. You and DH could take a nice gondola ride. I can't help with shows I don't attend them. There is so much shopping. I stay at the Desert Rose Resort. Rio is off the strip, but not that far. How exciting to have something planned. What other things do you like to do?

Las Vegas local here... The Venetian is nice. I don't think you would be disappointed. Other nice hotels are The Bellagio, The Wynn, The Encore at Wynn, Mandalay Bay (if you are going when it's still warm the pool is amazing), and my hands down favorite hotel The Cosmopolitan... those are all in the more expensive bracket, but some of the nicest hotels on the strip.

Yes, The Rio is off strip, but it's only a short cab ride away and they have taxi lines at all the hotels.

If you have any other questions let me know. I hope you have an amazing trip!

ETA: About other shows... We love the Cirque Du Soleil shows. Also, make sure you see the free water show outside of The Bellagio. There's some other free shows out front of the hotels, the Mirage has a volcano show, and the TI has a pirate/siren show.

would I be able to purcahse tickets the day of the show (to ask my husband when we get there what he wants to see, he won't know that he is going until we get to the airport) Otherwise I would probably do Penn and teller

Stupid question as I've never taken a cab do they accept credit cards? I hardly ever carry cash, especially in a town like Vegas.

Rio has shuttle services from Caesars palace to Rio, so you can consider doing that too.

As for tickets for show, id recommend getting it a week before since most tickets are non-refundable... in case if you guys decide to change your mind. The exception to this rule is the hit shows such as Celine Dion(i think thats it though). Thats in case if you change your mind too...

the thing is this is a total surprise for my husband he isn't going to know where the heck he is going until we get to the airpoty so I think I am going to try and get tickets to Penn and Teller

    ok need help again
I was thinking of doing Penn and teller as the second show but then I found out that a couple of commedians my husband likes (Bill Cosby and Chris Titus) are in town that weekend and now I can't decide what the hell to do.

would I be able to see a 10 o clock show in the same hotel I am staying at with this schedule??

my hubby gets off work at 3 gets home at 4
I surprise him tell him he has 1/2 hour to get packed and go at 4:30
the nearest airport (Burbank) is at least an hour away arrive at 5:30 need timie to park etc.
meaning probable around 6 latest for at least a 7pm flight??
HOwever the only flight there is at 7:30pm landing in Vegas at 8:30pm
The limo picks us up at the hotel and we go to the Venetian (It doesn't look far on the map) so we get there around 9 check in go to room and get to the shopw that starts at 10PM???

enough time? no?? It's the only show of the options that have a later time (Blue Mans Group).
Then we could do Blue Mans Group Thursday night, Chris Titus or Bill Cosby Friday night, and Penn and Teller Saturday night

    what do you think??

darn ignore the above it isn't going to work and now I find myself in a bigger pcikle, no shows late enough on THursday night

on Friday night I am stuck with chosing Bill Cosby or Blue Mans Group (I think Blue Mans Group because i KNOW he wants to see that. We have seen it before but in having a "casual" conversation with my husband he doesn't think Bill Cosby is as funny so I'll scratch that

Saturday night is the biggest pickle
I have Chris Titus at 7:30 (we've seen him before too but he's good and my husband lieks him or Penn and Teller (they ONLY play Saturday night) at 9pm, who we've never seen
    WHAT TO DO

ok so how do I figure out which one my husband would want to see without tipping him off to the surprise?

EDIT: I think my husband is on to me. He asked if I had Vegas on my mind for his birthday which I denied. I then played dumb and asked "why is that what you want" he said no but then said he couldn't get vacation time off at work (something I already secretly worked out with his boss), so now I'm confused if he relly does want to go or not or if he thinks its just a work thing, a big part of me thinks once he gets there and its just him and me and he sees all the nice things I have in the suite he is going to love it, it's just.....now my confidence is blown

Some friends recently took a cab in L.V. and signed the credit card slip without checking it. They were overcharged for extras.

I would pay cash so if there are any "extras," I can catch it right away.

I highly recommend Penn and Teller. They are hilarious! Venetian is a great choice! The rooms are nice and the gondola rides look like fun.

I ended up doing Penn and teller and Blue Man's Group.
I found out that Chris Titus will be close by a couple weeks later so tickts to that show will be his gift from our son.
We also have some couples massage spa time, reservations at the new Gordon Ramsay's steakshouse (he LOVES Gordon Ramsay) and have a limo taking us to and from the airport to the hotel.
I think through the help of friends I've thrown him off my scent. can't wait to surprise him. It's a whole month away. I am excited for the trip and to surprise him I hope I can hold out!!
