I need help to surprise the wife for our anniversary. Two years ago, we bought a D7000 that came with the Nikon 18-200, 3.5-5.6 G II ED. Added a Nikon 70-300, 4.5-5.6 G VR ED for shooting wildlife and birds. It does its job. Some great animal shots cruising through Alaska, through the sunroof driving through a park with bison, capturing those birds in the woods, etc. Now, wife wants to get into taking cityscapes and landscapes- lots of mountains, overlooks and trees here. She also wants to get those architectural shots in the city. Tons of bridges. She's not really happy with the lower end of the 18-200 and she's not quite sure what exactly she is looking for. Just knows she wants to go wider. She also has her eye on getting the 50 f1.4 . She's saved up and is getting that for herself for candids and walk around. I want to surprise her on her other wish item. She wants to add something lower that would not be impractical or duplicate what the 50 will do. She's looking at 10-24 f 3.5-4.5 or the 35/ 1.8 or something else that meets her needs better. She's not sure exactly what she needs as this will be a whole new area for her. How she uses the camera- a lot of outdoor shooting, think WDW main street or interiors- think capturing the atrium on DCL as well as shooting up at buildings and architecture plus straight on shots of old buildings without being able to step back or interiors of old buildings. She's a history nut and loves going to sections of town with old architecture- plus heading back to Europe next year and all she talks about is the old buildings, cathedrals, museums etc. inside and out, She's into interior decorating and loves both the inside and outside of Versailles. She took shots with a cheap 110 back in '86 as that's all she had. She dreams of getting much better shots this time. When traveling, it could be WDW, DCL, camping or walking around the city getting picturesque shots like old streets in San Juan/Paris, staring up at the Space Needle/ Eiffel Tower. I want to surprise her for the anniversary. She would love to have a lens with time to practice before the trip next year. Any recommendations? Does she need 1 lens or more to fit her needs. I can make it a lens a year plan if needed. Thanks for any help. She's been a great wife and deserves a great gift.
