We are waiting for test results on my GSD Zelda. See was being very lethargic yesterday and wouldn't eat. We found a large endema on her neck and got her right in to the vet. He found that all of her lymphnodes are enlarged. He took blood samples and is testing biopsy from several lymph glands. We should have the test results today. He prepared us for the worst as it may be cancer.

    Update:
She's gone to the Rainbow Bridge. We had the vet out and had her put to sleep this morning. She had lost so much weight - you couldn't see it very well because she had such a thick coat. She was just skin and bones. She (and the whole family) had a restless night. She wouldn't eat this morning and even with the pain pill the vet gave us, she still wasn't herself. So we played out in the field a little and went on a little walk. When the time came she went peacefully with her head in my lap on the deck in her favorite spot. I told her she was my "sweet girl" Rest in peace my sweet Geyer's Devlespawn Zelda

Oh No! I feel for you, as we've just been through something similar with one of my dogs. I also have a GSD, who is my constant companion. I would be desolate if I were in your place.
I really hope you get better news than what you've been prepared to hear.

Yes she is young. Only 5 and a half. The vet gave us an antibiotic and a anti-inflammatory / pain pill for her. The endema was gone this morning and she was well enough to play fetch with our other dog. So I'm trying to stay hopeful

The vet is supposed to call late this afternoon. We are leaving for a weeks vacation on Monday. So he was trying to speed up the test result. My DS that still lives at home is taking care of things while we are gone. She is "his " dog too.

Many prayers for Zelda. We went through this last fall with our 3yo lab mix. Unfortunately, we got bad news. Hoping for much better news for your sweet girl.

Sending good thoughts to Zelda and your family. I'm a GSD owner too and I love my dog just like I love the rest of the family. I hope it turns out to be a passing illness.:grouphug:

We lost our beloved bulldog Hooch to lymphoma. Praying it is not that.

Thanks everyone! We are still waiting for the call from the vet. Looks like we may not know until Monday. On a hopefully good note I checked the nodes on her sides behind her elbows and the right side appears to have gone down. They were both almost egg size and now the right side is about half as big.

Unfortunately it was bad news from the vet. She has lymphoma and it is very wide spread
