DH decided he wants crab cakes for his birthday on July 3rd. Anybody have a good lump crab cake recipe? He doesn't like much filler and I would be broiling them. TIA!!

 I'm not the greatest cook but my DH has a great recipe.

    1 lb. lump crab meat
    1 Tsb. red bell pepper
    1/2 cup chopped scallions
    1 egg
    1/4 cup mayo
    2 tbs. dijon mustard
    s & p
    1/4 cup fresh dill
fry red pepper and scallions together - set aside
mix all the rest together and add red pepper & scallions
    form into cakes
coat cakes into flavored bread crumbs
    fry on a low heat
    makes approx. 6-8 cakes
(optional crushed red pepper for some spice)
This is a great recipe because it uses no bread filler.

My DH makes these often because they are so easy to make.

This is a great recipe and sounds just like mine no filler at all just the light coating of the bread crumbs on the outside. They are delicious. I always make them for Christmas for my DH and DD.

If you want I can still look up the other it's on the Joy of Cooking cd that I have.

Can I come for crab cakes too?

    Here's another one-

    1 large onion, minced
    1/2 cup celery, minced
    1 small green pepper, minced
    1/2 stick butter
    1 lb. crabmeat
    1 cup bread crumbs
    1 tbl. mustard
    1 tbl. mayo
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1/4 tsp. garlic salt
    salt and pepper

Saute onion, celery, and pepper lightly in butter until tender. Do not brown. Add to crabmeat and 3/4 cup bread crumbs. Add other ingredients and mix well. Pack into well greased shells or a casserole. Sprinkle with remaining bread crumbs and dot with butter. Bake at 400 degrees until hot and lightly browned.
