NBA Lakers Game on March 05, 2017 - Help needed

Hi!
During our trip through California in March 2017 we will watch the Laker's game on March, 5. We will stay at the Hilton at Universal City.
Because we are not familiar with the traffic situation in L.A., we are not sure how to get to the Staples Center - should we go by car or by bus? The game starts at 7.30 p.m. (it is a Friday).
How much time do we need to get to Staples Center from the Hilton?

Much easier to go by subway. The subway station is down the hill from the Hilton. Take it downtown and get off at 7th St/Metro Center. Then you can either transfer to either the Blue/Expo Line to the Pico Station, or just walk down Figueroa St to Staples Center. I'm not exactly sure how much time it'll take but it should be less than 1 hr.

It'll be crowded after the game, but probably not before.

Thanks! Well, it will be intereting to see what "crowded" in L.A. means - "crowded" in Germany, after soccer matches, can be unbearable
But I guess, the traffic jams during game days can be worse...

It isn't that bad, if anything, just enjoy the surrounding area like LA Live before heading to the 7th Street Station, the crowds will have died down. Just make sure you board the red line to get back to Universal City.

But even peak will be nothing compared to leaving a soccer match in Germany... No worries, enjoy the trip, and the game...

Maybe a late dinner at The Original Pantry Cafe.
