My HAPPY Place.....when I'm not...

Beautiful home. Congratulations! When I read your original post I knew you were a Jersey girl as soon as you said Route 17. I grew up in Ringwood if you know where that is.
.....uhhhhhhh, YA! :thumbsup2

.....I still have to post some shots of our new bedroom....yet ANOTHER room that we had to remove the pink/purple colors....

.....we were temporarily 'stationed' in the boat room while construction was underway, so you can imagine how anxious I was to move to our 'soon-to-be' sanctuary. The original footprint of the main floor included 3 bedrooms, but would be transformed into "the Cadillac of closets".... Our former suite [at our old house] included the luxury of a wall of closets for my DH, while mine was a 5-ft walk-in. The new digs were set to relegate our clothing to two TINY closets - by today's standards, not even sub-par! This 3rd bedroom would eventually become our closet:

....so, with construction well afoot, my DH and his crew worked tirelessly to begin some semblance of a new master bedroom/walk-in closet ensuite, carefully removing the wall separating our room from that 3rd bedroom...you can see (as noted by the outline on the ceiling)where the closets used to be located:

....my DS, always the lighthearted goofball!

....as you can plainly see, the former closets were now a thing of the past. This photo shows where the eventual new opening into our closet will be. (quite a decent size for a walk-in wouldn't you agree?)

Trying to move along with the construction in a timely manner, the guys decided to sheetrock over the plaster walls, since there were too many cracks to count. This actually provided really nicely smooth surfaces for walls and ceiling, where lumps and bumps once reigned supreme:

....absolutely cavernous, but the task of filling it with clothes was not daunting....:-)

This was the view of our new bedroom from the angle inside our closet:

Although our room was being used as a command post, of sorts, you could clearly see how a fresh coat of paint really mades the room begin to take shape:

...we opted to paint the closet the same color just for convenience, but, as you will see later, it was a great choice, in hindsight. Of course, the oak floors were also installed, making the room more 'homey'...

With most of the major work now out of the way including the staining and sanding of the floors, the moulding and doors could be installed:

Our master bedroom went from this:

....every time I enter the room, I feel like I am at a luxury resort! [BTW, those barn doors were made by my DH out of reclaimed wood from the boat room]

I love the door's for the closet! It is coming along so nicely. Congrats! How have you been?:dance3:

Nice transformation! Interesting concept to have a window in the closet.

.....well, if truth be known, it wouldn't be. THe exterior of our home is brick, so windows and doors are not so easily moved, because you have to fill in with brick what has been changed, and the brick is kind of old, so you'd be able to see the patchwork....

LOOOOOVE the barn doors!!!

And I really love the color scheme in your living room! Hard work for you all but very worth it! Congrats!

.

...thanks....my DH built the cabinet in the middle of the closet and we just had the piece of marble installed the other day....my DH and DS built all the shelves inside the closet also....

....thanks! We still have not begun Phase II, which includes knocking down the wall between the kitchen and dining room and making one huge area....hopefully, that is in the not-too-distant future....
