Sorry its taken me so long, but thanks to some very 'gentle' reminders from Claire & Michelle I've finally got my act together so without further delay ..........

    Day 5 - Animal Kingdom , Narcoosee's and DTD

As I've been so slack no doubt you've all forgotten who I am and what's happened so far so here are the reminders (Thanks to Goofyish for finding these!)

    Day 5 - Animal Kingdom

A nice early start today so we could make sure we get to AK in time for rope drop - but a quick Maccas stop later (utilising our buy one get one free vouchers) meant we arrived at 9.10 - I swear we're destined never to see a rope drop, the hour between 8am and 9am seems to last about 5 minutes for us! But then, when breakfast is costing less than $3 for both of us, it seems rude not too! :thumbsup2

The Lion King is my favourite film of all time and I had been waiting for about 10 years to finally see the real tree of life and the surrounding park (and secretly hoping to see Simba and Nala) . We both had a feeling this would be one of our favourite parks, and we weren't wrong (nice double negative there!)

We headed straight over to Asia and specifically to Expedition Everest for our first ride of the day, but it took us longer than anticipated to walk over there as the whole place just looks so amazing! The scenery is great, and the attention to detail is amazing, I couldn't stop taking pictures!

EE is a brilliant ride, Em's favourite ride of the whole trip and definitely one of my favourites. It's so much fun but again, the theming and attention to detail really make it stand out. The queing area, as I'm sure everyone reading this already knows, is full of Himilayan artificats and is set up as a 'base camp'. If you get a fast pass you would miss all of this, and it really does warrant at least one walk around.

We rode this 3 times in a row thanks to the non existent ques, but I couldnt convince Em to go for a fourth. So we headed over to Kilamanjaro safaris to catch the animals early on in the day when they were still active.

This ride is great, again, amazing theming throughout and you really get the feeling you could be on a real safari. We saw all the animals out and about, and were even lucky enough to see some some impala having sex !! (no pics though!) :rotfl2:

The safari was going fine, until some poachers came along and ruined our day, luckily we chased them off and rescused the baby elepant :)

We also got to see a real baby elephant :)

All that rescuing was hard work, and with the Lion King show starting in about 30 minutes it was time to get a pre show snack. We went to Pizzafari and shared some mozarella bread sticks and dip

Breadsticks - Basket of fresh baked breadsticks topped with cheese and served with marinara sauce - $3.99

They were sooooo nice! I was very pleasntly surprised!

We headed over to the Lion King show which was fantastic , and very different from what I had been expecting , We then wandered over to Maharaja Jungle Trek and walked around the ruins. I was gutted the tapir was sleeping and didn't want to be seen, but the tigers were great, and were all being quite active too, splashing around in their pool and playing with each other.

They look so cute, but when you see the size of their paws you realise just how dangerous they are! And you know what they say about cats with big paws..... :rolleyes1

    Then we met Stitch :)

I really like this photopass pic, as I don't think we have any 'natural' shots of the 2 of us from any holiday!

We then went over to watch the Finding Nemo musical. I was really intrigued to see how this would work as a show, and it certainly does. Its a great show, great production and some brilliant songs too. I think I may have actually preferred this to the Lion King show

As lovely as those mozarella breadsticks were, we were still hungry, so we went over to Yak & Yeti (counter service) for lunch. As we had an ADR for Narcoosees that night we didnt want too much so we shared the Kung Pao Beef $10.99 .....

.....and I have to say it was disappointing. We both love asian food (and have actually just decided on our honeymoon destination, 4 nights in Hong Kong and 11 nights in Thailand) so I had been looking forward to this, but it was pretty crappy to be honest and it would end up being the worst food we ate during the whole trip. Maybe we just ordered unwisely, or perhaps we caught them on an off day, but it wasn't the best. (however, did did still manage to eat every last bit ;) )

I couldn't convince Em that riding on EE was a good idea straight after lunch, so we headed over to the tree of life for 'Its tough being a bug'.

Oh - I've just remembered - we took waterproof jackets with us to Orlando, in case of afternoon showers, and we forget to take them to the parks every day apart from this day, and wouldn't you know it, this was the hottest day of the trip! It was absolutely boiling and there was me with a big rucksack on my back containing waterproofs......

Anyway, back on track, bugs life - wicked, i really enjoyed this, prob my favourite 3d show out there (although muppets would be a close second).

We wandered round the rest of the park enjoying the sights , including these guys, who were fantastic:

It was then time for the Pocahontas show! I really wanted to see this show as it advertised having live animal actors in it - including rabbits. Well I was very disappointed with the lack of rabbits. I guess the show would be good for little kids but not so much for us 2! Having said that, the porcupine was very impressive. I videotaped the whole show but surprisingly haven't got around to watching it back yet......

It was one of the hottest 15 minutes of my life though, this area really needs some shade.

We then got ourselves a spot for the parade which was all good and then we decided to have a quick go on Dinosaur before leaving. I really liked this ride but I can imagine it being very scary for kids - edit - very scary for kids and Emilie:

I love the fact that virtually everyone looks really scared in their pictures for this! :rotfl:

The park was closing so we headed back, taking a few more pics en route, to shower and change before heading over to the Grand Floridian for our Narcoossee's ADR

    Narcoossee's

We planned to catch a cab over but were running late so ended up driving. As we pulled up to the hotel you could see the quality of the hotel straight away. I must admit I had never really fancied the Grand Floridian before but it is such a lovely place in real life and now I'd love to stay there one day

We got directions from reception then arrived at Narcoossees about 5 minutes before our ADR time. We were seated almost immediately at the far end of the restaurant with a great view out over the lake.

We ordered a bottle of wine to share, although I was driving so it was one glass for me and most of a bottle for Em!

    For starter I went for:

Ahi Tuna Tartar - miso vinaigrette, wasabi tobiko, togarashi crisps $14

    And Em had

Fried Calamari chili-garlic coleslaw and fire roasted corn tartar sauce $12

Mine was so delicious, it was a really fresh tasting dish and the different textures worked so well together. It also looked amazing! I had planned on having the mussels, but once I had decided on the swordfish, I thought the mussles might be a bit too similar in flavour, so I went for the Tuna on our server's recommendation, and I am very glad I did :)

Em's was alright , there were 2 types of calamari, but she said it was a little bit oily. it was a huge plate though, it could probably be shared between 2 people as a starter. The chilli garlic coleslaw was superb!

Wishes started after we had finished our starters and our waiter asked if we'd like him to wait until after wishes for the mains, which was a nice touch. So we took our drinks out onto the balcony and watched the fireworks (all the time I was thinking that this time tomorrow I'll be asking Em to marry me! :scared1: )

    Me - Nervous? - Never!! ;)

Wishes was amazing as everyone knows, and after we went back inside, sat down and about 5 minutes later our mains came out

Me - Seared Swordfish - lemon sticky rice, thai curry broth, baby bok choy, garlic and mushrooms $36.00

Em - Steamed Whole Maine Lobster - potato gratin and steamed baby broccoli $59

Again, amazing food! The Lobster was huge (this report has reminded me just how greedy Em was this day - ordering the largest items on the menu!)

We were stuffed but had heard so much about the almond crusted cheesecake we had to get one to share for dessert.

Inspired by The Year of a Million Dreams - Almond-crusted Cheesecake with Lambert Cherry Sauce $8

I'm not a big fan of almonds at all, but this was amazing, easily the nicest cheesecake I've ever had. Dont let a fear of almonds or cherries put you off, it is so good!

We saw a few people in here taking pics of their food too - Must have been fellow DISers! I think Em was starting to get 'into' the food pics by now too....

Overall cost without tip - $163.22

    Scores:

    Me

    Ambience - 9
    Service - 9.5
    Food - 8.5
    Value for money - 8

    Overall - 8.5

    Em

    Ambience 9.5
    Service 9.5
    Food 8
    Value for money 8

    Overall - 8.5

I really loved it here, its such a pretty setting, if you like seafood, you have to try Narcoossees

    Down Town Disney

We decided to check out Down Town Disney on the way home, after eating so much we needed to walk it off! (Have you spotted the the common theme of this trip yet?!)

It was a nice evening, a bit of a breeze was in the air so it was lovely walking down the waterfront and checking out all the shops. Then we got to Goofy's Candy Co. Oh My God! What can I say about this place?! :worship: :worship: :worship:

This must be where the phrase 'like a kid in a candy store' originated from!

In case anyone hasn't been - The best way I can think to describe it is like a cross between Toys R US and subway (the sandwich place) but for sweets and chocolate!

Apart from the million different flavor jelly beans and other sweets and chocolate on offer, you can build your own treat :) You get to choose wht type of treat you want, randing from pretzel rods, giant cookies, rice crispy Mickey heads, apples etc) and then what toppings you want

The people working were like artists, the concentration when they were drizzling the caramel over my treat was great!

I went for a Rice Crispy Mickey Head, dipped in white chocolate, covered in Oreo cookie crumbs, crushed butterfingers and chopped pecans and drizzled with caramel sauce :)

Em had a Rice Crispy Mickey Head dipped in milk chocolate covered in crushed pecans, Oreo cookie dust and mini m & ms and drizzled with white chocolate.

As you can see they are massive - and Em has a pretty big head anyway!!

The total came to less than $5 (I think they must have made a mistake as they are supposed to be $3 each) Such a bargain even at full price, mine lasted a week and I finished Em's off on our last day :) I can honestly say that Goofy's Candy Co is one of the best places on earth. Fact.

The excitement of all that chocolate helped take my mind of the fact that this was (hopefully) our last night as an un - engaged couple...........

Tune in tomorrow for Proposal Day @ the California Grill! (and find out just how much of a nervous wreck I became!)

Yay!!! :yay: Well done Craig, it's about time too. ;)

Great photos. I really like Animal Kingdom too. :thumbsup2 I love the 'natural' pic of you & Em & can totally relate to not having any like that of myself & Lee. They are always staged as you have to get someone to take it for you. You know from reading my report that we also enjoyed Narcoosee's, all your food pics have made me hungry. It was our first time seeing Finding Nemo the Musical too & we both loved it - definately our favourite show.

Now don't make me poke & prod you again for Day 6! I can't wait to hear all about the proposal!

Unbelievable good day at Animal Kingdom for you both. You seemed to pack a lot in. The food pictures are absolutely amazing. Just a wonderful experience.

Can't wait to read about the proposal. I have definately waited longer for this than the whole time me and Mark were together before we go married, let alone made his proposal!!!!

Take food pics!! - I'll be counting on food pics from you Michelle - don't let me down ;)

Thanks :) I'll get on with Day 6 asap......

Thanks Susan :thumbsup2 We loved Animal Kingdom and it really was such a great day in AK and then a great evening too.
