What I wish I could post to my facebook wall:

"People, if you click like and comment on a stupid picture to "see what happens" NOTHING will happen! NOTHING except that all of your friends will be seeing that you were dumb enough to comment on the stupid picture and that you are gullible. Furthermore, no one on this planet, and most espcially FB will not donate a $1 for a like and $2 for a "share" of a horrific picture of a child suffering from a disease. Again, the only thing that will happen is all of your fb friends will see how dumb you are. Also, even if COuntry Outfitter is giving away one darn pair of boots- your chances of winning that stupid pair of boots is less than winning the Powerball jackpot, because every other idiot on the planet already liked and shared that stupid picture. All you are doing is providing Country Outfitter with free advertising on your wall. Also, that stupid picture started about 12 months ago and I'm sure they already gave the boots away...however people continue to share their ad!!!! It's over! DO you hear me?! It's over!!!! Stop posting the boots to my news feed!. WHile I'm ranting, lets also talk about your posts about your damn blogs. No one cares. Blah Blah Blah Blah. Yea yea, we all have kids, we all have jobs, we all do it. You are not funny. You think that you are more clever and more witty describing your boring life than the next person. You're not. I can read 100 blogs and they are all the same. Blah Blah Blah. SO just shut up and get out there and LIVE your life and stop trying to document it and impress us with it. Ok?

OK, we all understand? Ok, thanks I feel better "

Ah, if only I could post this ....

I hate those extremly disturbing pictures of sick kids and then the text to it says if you don't share or like, then you don't have a heart. Obvisously some people really need to prove to total strangers that they do have a heart.

I have de-friended people for this reason.

And those things are always started by some weird page that has a curse word in the title. They are sickos that think it is funny to spread the picture and get attention to their fb page at the same time...why do people feel so compelled to be led by these crazys?

I agree that nothing will happen if you click on the picture.

But, I did win a free case of Chobani Yogurt for liking their page.

Seems like you need to cull your FB friends. :confused3

I personally like Country Outfitters boots. They do run frequent promotions. The most recent one was given away on Saturday, January 11, 2013. I'm glad I have friends that like their boots as well. ;)

If someone starts posting a lot of crap, especially during the election season, I either ignored and scrolled past or just deleted them if it got that bad. No stress. Life is too short to be stressed by Facebook. :goodvibes

OP I know what you mean, those posts drive me CRAZY! Whats worse is when ppl send you EMAILS which indicate they will get a million dollars from the money fairy if they fwd the email to everyone in their contact list. Like really? You really believe that? I feel sorry for ppl like that. I really do. Anyway re: facebook, you can either defriend them or put them on your "aquaintance" list. That way you wont see 90% of their posts. Yay!

I hate the uber-happy, seemingly perfect life people the most....especially when I know the truth. Then there's the TMI crowd. I don't need to know that your daughter lost her virginity, thank you.

I also don't need to see pictures of anyone's scabs, cuts, bruises, hangnails, or other injury-type things. I don't have many friends who post things like that, but there are a few acquaintances who do.

Ha ha! I have the TMIers also. They like to talk about their colonoscopys and such.

2 other trends I'm noticing are the people that use fb to rant at people (like their ex or the people at work) (I don't do that, I use the DIS for that! Ha!) and the crowd that uses FB to mourn their lost loved ones. OK, I am really not being heartless here. I totally understand the posts right after losing someone. But then, at some point you just need to stop (on FB at least) I have a couple that are weekly posting things like "I still miss you mom" "CLick like and share this picture of a candle if you love someone in Heaven" I know this sounds heartless, but after a while you need to remember your loved one more privately, "talking" to them on fb is not getting the message to them any better than just talking to them in your own heart. Like, basically, don't drag me into your mourning with you. Every damn week and every anniversary of a death , getting a lot of people to "like" your post isn't going to make you feel better. Please.

I hate the over share about kids. Yes, I know you are excited that they used the potty. But I don't need to hear about it on FB!

posting pictures of themselves before and after surgery is annoying too. As if it is some threshhold in life that needs to be documented.

I don't like to see pictures of someone's ultrasound. It feels way too intimate to me.

My hard and fast rule is to use Facebook for fun and lighthearted topics. Funny observations, sharing info about events, concerts, movies, books, travel, pictures of fun and interesting things. MAYBE ask for advice no deeper than, "know any good plumbers?"

    No politics!
    No brags
    No personal problems
No tortured animal or abused children photos
NO pleas of "if you love me you'll like and share" nonsense

But I will say, I've won some fabulous stuff using Facebook. But you have to be smart and know what's legit. Mostly from local business and radio stations

LOL, I guess I look at it as that's just facebook. I do particularly enjoy those that try to make their lives look sooooo perfect when you know something ain't right, and I've actually known a few that were in affairs that would do that about their spouses, that is about as low as you can go IMO. But that's also pretty rare. Most people are just boring with the, "OK I guess I'll do some laundry today and little Johnny has to get new shoes" Oh wow, that is so awesome thank you for sharing that, so exciting.

My personal "favorite" is the one that says FB is going to start charging unless you post this onto your wall. I had 1 friend that did a couple weeks ago, I said "this is hoax, FB isn't going to start charging" then 3 more of her friends shared it on their wall and made comments like "better safe than sorry" so I finally posted the Snopes link on her page. lol I block the pictures of abused children and animals, I use FB for fun, not to see things I know exist already.
Oh and Country Outfitters, they are constantly giving away boots, so yes, I'll constantly enter because I work at a country bar so I wear boots 1-4 times a week. :)

how about the one that was some really stupidly worded legal disclaimer where people were "proclaiming" that they owned copyright to everything posted on their wall and that it was personal property not to be shared.Ha! Um if it's personal property not to be shared , here is a tip... DONT POST IT ON FB! I posted the snopes artical about it being a hoax to many people who posted it and people would not read the comments and still post under miy post "oh, wow, thanks! I'll post this right away" Stupid sheep I tell you.

The ones that get me are the posts about 'I need a job so bad, my baby is sick and I can't afford medicine, etc' then the next day 'getting a new tat or piercing today!'. :confused3 Use the $ for that tattoo or piercing to get medicine for your baby. (and yes, this was family :rolleyes1)

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I'm with you, OP, and I LOVE that you mentioned Country Outfitters. :rotfl2: That's the one thing that annoys me the most lately. It wouldn't be so bad if it just popped up once when a friend originally "likes" the picture, but I get their paid advertisements, every freakin' day, telling me "so and so likes Country Outfitters". I don't care! In fact, every time I see that darn picture, the boots get uglier and uglier because I'm so sick of being spammed by them. I noticed recently a friend of mine "liked" a page called something like "shut up about country outfitters", lol, that's the page for me, I guess.

    eewwwwww! :rotfl2:

I don't know anyone who overdoes the mourning posts. If they're doing it every week that's a bit much, but lots of my friends will say something on the anniversary of a loved ones death, or on the person's birthday, at Christmastime if they loved the holiday, etc. Often, I knew the deceased too, and I like being able to share a memory or give my friend a virtual "hug". I've also shared my feelings on FB about the loved ones I've lost. Talking about the deceased can be very therapeutic, and the heartfelt comments from my friends DO make me feel better.
