Ms. Shuttergirl's dreaming of a White Christmas...Days 28-32 done, Boston & Washingto

Yippee more updates!! I loved reading them and your trip continues to sound amazing!

I suspect you are feeling the pressure to finish this one because very soon you will be starting the next one!! :rotfl2:

Love your pictures in Boston. Looks like you had a great time there. We found it to be an amazing city with so much history. Looks like you did too.

I really thought Boston was a wonderful place. I would now like to go back during their autumn and hire a car and explore further out from there.

Yes, I am feeling the pressure hahaha.

Wow, ms shuttergirl, loving the photos, would love to go to Boston and Washington, and your photos make me want to see it even more.
Love those free walking tours, I hav edone them a few times and always find the guides are wonderful, they tend to be really proud of their city, as a result I have always given them a great tip. Win win really:cool1:

Loving all the updates! Will have start considering those free walking tours a bit more seriously.

Good to hear you've had great experiences with the free walks in other cities. I was very very impressed with the guides knowledge, his humour, the whole thing.

Absolutely.

ok Lisa, you are coming with me on my trip in September just to be our resident photographer :rotfl2:

You don't have to ask me twice :thumbsup2

That would've been a marathon read :rotfl2:, you poor thing. I still have a couple of Washington days to add and then it's done, whew.

Thanks Kristin, you are very kind.

I think I am going to have to do that walk. What time did it leave.

The tour left at 5pm and finished around 7ish at Lincoln Memorial which was perfect because then we could have a wander around there too. Seeing the monuments at night was the absolute best.

I was thinking the same thing :)

Enjoying the new updates. I was disappointed we never ended up seeing the memorials at night-I so would have liked to have seen Lincoln's then but it didn't get dark til after 10pm in July-we were just too tired after our big sightseeing days to stay out that late!! In retrospect should have had dinner out somewhere and rested then detoured on the way home.

I was about to suggest your DS would love the Britain at War Museum in London which recreated the Blitz and was really fun and informative but a quick google to get you the location and it closed in Jan this year due to redevelopment of the area. (It was set in a disused tube station). Pooh! Ah well-I know everyone has mentioned so many museums but with the kids in mind, as well as the BM there is also the Museum of London (near St Pauls and by a section of the original Roman walls) which is a history specifically of London. Again jumping to the website it looks very different now to when we went when DD was 7 and we all loved it but if you had an hour (regular galleries are free) it might still be worth a look.

Hey shuttergirl...how did I totally miss out on your Trip Report til now. Probably the same way you totally missed us in Buffalo....

JK.

I haven't had time to read the whole thing, but flipped through your Niagara Falls/Boston portions. Looks like you had a good time despite the cold and your cold. (Us disease-infested Americans...Yul!)

I agree Niagara Falls beats Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon is too big. NF is of size your mind can comprehend. Amazing to think that only 50 % of the water that should be going over the falls actually is. (The other 50 % is by-passed for hydroelectric...at night they re-route 75 %.) See what you would've learned if you invited us to dinner with you?

The Behind the Falls tour is neat, but it's too bad that you couldn't come at a time when the Maid of the Mist is running, the boat gets really into the cauldron that is the horseshoe falls, and the shear amount and force of water around you is awesome.

The "real" Cheers is most definitely the one near the Commons, with the pub in the basement being the basis for the show. The case used to come into town around once a year to shoot a few exteriors. (The reason the exteriors were typically the throwaway gags at the cold open of the show.) So that is where they actually filmed.

Fenway is an amazing park..glad you got to see it. Better to see a game there.

Can't believe you just get back from that and your heading to Europe. How do I get that lifestyle?:goodvibes

I'll try and catch up eventually.

Hi Skier Pete. I hope you aren't miffed with me for not catching up. We were there for such a short time and I was really sick at that stage so socialising was the furthest thing from my mind.

We had a great time though and are so glad we visited Niagara Falls.

No, not miffed at all. So sorry to hear you were sick while here. That's the worst when on vacation.
