Most Overrated Food in Disney

I agree that people's expectations are high but that's because more often than not folks gush and rave about these items as if they're the most delectable things on the planet and you try them and find yourself doing a Peggy Lee and asking, "Is that all there is? "

I completely agree on the beignets. I just want to scoop all the POFQ beignet lovers up and take them to New Orleans so that they can really experience a beignet.

As a south Louisiananian (wow, what a 'made up looking word!! LOL) I agree - 'love' my Cafe du Monde beignets! Yum - want some now!

They took away the one thing that dh & I could not wait to get first thing - our yummy cinnamon roll from Main Street Bakery - and no, not Gastons - just a poor substitute! :sad2:

The Grey Stuff is supposed to be cookies and cream mousse.

As far as things I find overrated: Definitely the Dole Whip. Yuck. I like pineapple but these are just gross.
I do enjoy the citrus swirl though so :confused3

Ah ha. I think you're right, cookies and cream does sound right now that I think back to it.

Oh, wait, I forgot THE MOST overrated item at Disney....

This Disney Kool-Aid I keep hearing about. From what I hear, you just drink it once and everything--and I mean EVERYTHING--turns into sunshine, rainbows, and pixie dust! Nothing ever goes wrong. Everything is always perfect. You don't find fault with anything....EVER! People sometimes don't even realize they've had it and still experience the great effects. It's got to be the most amazing thing on earth, at least from what I've heard.

Just didn't work for me.....

:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I LOVE IT!!!

I even tried putting some rum :drinking1in mine hoping to "amp" the effects ... still didn't work. :sad2:

I think that the Kool Aid could be the underlying cause of the post yesterday that claimed this thread was a mean spirited attack. Heaven forbid anyone has an opinion that is slightly negative about Disney. Good grief!

Zebra domes. And any of the cupcakes - they're beautiful to look at, but I'm always disappointed that I've wasted either calories or snack credits on them. :)

Has anyone mentioned the candy apples? The apples are everywhere it seems, not quite as ubiquitous as the cupcakes, but plentiful nonetheless. They look really nice, very well decorated, cool themes, but I just can't imagine they are that great? Like the cupcakes, they appear to be more style over substance.

I have to agree with the people who said that the beignets were the most overrated food. We had them for the first time last week and I wasn't impressed at all. :sad2:

School bread. It sounded so good and the pictures looked INCREDIBLE. I think I didn't like it because I was expecting something different. I expected it to mirror a Boston Cream donut covered in coconut, but it had a strange "cleaner-like" aftertaste. How I'd imagine Lemon Pledge tasting.

Also, I was really looking forward to the brioche ice cream sandwich. I got it with the gingerbread gelato. The bread was so good and fresh but the gelato had a strange taste. Maybe I need to try a different combination!

I completely agree with you on the cupcakes! They're beautiful, but I've never had one that tasted as good as it looked.

And I have to add turkey legs. I can't give those things away on Thanksgiving, but Disney sells them?!?

My DH and I got a ghost mickey apple to share one time, and we fought over that thing like two five year olds. I'm not sure about the others, but that one was delicious! (Granted, I wasn't thrilled about the $10 price tag.)

I will say this... I agree, a lot of stuff at Disney is overrated due to the novelty and memories... but...

The cookie bar was recommended on these boards. I had never heard of it (I know you can make it at home, but I never even knew it existed.) On my last trip I walked from POFQ to POR to get one, and WOW. I love Dole Whips, but at the end of the day it's vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet. It's what I expected it to be. Same with the rice krispie treats (my favorite,) and the pretzels. But this cookie bar, man it was everything you guys built it up to be and more. The toasted coconut, the graham cracker, OH MAN!

Another one just hit me. The carrot cake cookie at the Writer's Stop. It was good, but I wouldn't say it was slap yo mama good. Not something I'd probably ever order again.

Ok, where's the Cronut?
The cronut is at the refreshment port at Epcot. As you enter world showcase walking toward Canada. It will be on your right. Just a small kiosk with BIG yummies!! lol I heard recently, you can also get Cronut a la mode!! OH my!!

[QUOTE="ZuuL, post: 53513145, memberlol I think people may put their expectations way too high.[/QUOTE]
Could be!! lol

Mine would be the steak at Yachtsman's. I heard so many good things about that place and felt like I've had better steak at home! It was saltier than I prefer.... BUT no steak will ever beat the one I had at Jiko in 2007 :)

chef Mickeys by a mile....very loud, overpriced....so many better character experiences IMO
