I have some friends who were supposed to fly to California next weekend from Canada, for the MHP on the 7th. Well, Mom fell and broke her shoulder yesterday. Surgery is a possibility today. Airline tickets and hotels have been cancelled. Has anyone had tickets for special events refunded? I know Disney is really good at helping out in situations like these, but I thought I would ask here before I talk to them today.

My Daughter ended up getting really sick when we where a Disney world and we had tickets to the xmas party Disney refunded the party ticket dining res we had for Mickeys back yard BBQ and 3 park days we had. So I would just call and speak to someone and see what happens. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. Love that I can always find the answer here❤

No surgery... yay They rebooked their flights today and will have their holiday after all. Maybe in a wheel chair to keep her arm from getting jostled around too much. Now if I could just sneak into one of their suitcases

Great news. :dogdance::yay: Hope she is able to enjoy herself:flower3:

Great news! Make sure that they know where First Aid is in both parks so that they can get there quickly if they need to. The nurses there are always so helpful with any kind of health need. Plus, it's a cool place to rest if the mom starts to get overheated and feel unwell.

Yes!

And they are real RNs, too. In the back they have hospital type cots if she needs to lie down.

A few years ago I had an issue where I couldn't use my ticket (I had to literally leave the country that day). Knowing that I couldn't get a refund or onsell etc I went to guest relations and asked if they would be able to give my ticket to a member of a family they thought would like a ticket etc. I didn't want a refund I just asked if they would give it to someone else on my behalf. Well not only did they refund my ticket but they gave 2 tickets to a family while I was getting my refund and told them it was a magical surprise from the gentlemen over there... And thats the difference between Disney and other theme parks. They train their people to spread the pixie dust when they can. I always think the posters on the Dis are bigger sticklers for the rules than the Disney CM's are-but I think that it's because they know that Disney gives in when they can so they dont want to see people take advantage of that or slam the CM's on the times that they can't.
