Melt downs at the character meals

when he hit on the "magic phrase" Do you know what this trip cost me?!? I turned around and said "Yeah, about what it cost me, now buck up or shut up!"

EXCELLENT! Good for you! Too many people think it's all about them; it doesn't hurt to remind them that, no, in fact, they DON'T own the road!

That OP story is unbelievable! I sincerely hope that there were escorted off of the Disney property and told never to visit again.
I've seen some couples fight, kids upset but I chalk that up to sensory over-load.
The only bad thing that happened to me was one time when I and my kids (well, older than that) were standing in the FP line waiting for the clock to turn over so we could enter (forget which ride; it was the car one in Epcot with the ABS brake propaganda). Anyway, this woman cuts in front of me and then looks at me and asks if this is the line. I say yes and she just looks at me and says, "Excuse me, s**t a** and walks away. My son's jaw dropped and I just shook my head. The ironic thing is that she ended up seeing me multiple times as the line would loop. I kept trying to catch her as I wanted to blow her a kiss but <sigh> she wouldn't make eye contact.

We were at the Crystal Palace and Piglet accidently spilled someone's drink while greeting a baby in high chair. The father said the F word and some other not-so-nice things to the person that helps the characters. A couple of minutes later two very large, but nice gentleman asked him and his party to leave the property.

All the way out the door, the man was trying to make nice-nice but I don't think the park security wanted to hear it. When they left the restaurant our section clapped.

Yikes! When I read the title of this thread, I obviously thought that a CHILD had a meltdown - not an adult!

Unfortunately, this reminds me of a person that came on vacation with us. We had eaten at 'Ohana. We were just planning on going back to our rooms afterward - we were not in any rush. Well, the server was nowhere to be found and we were waiting for the check. The "moms" took the kids back to the rooms, and the "dads" waited for the check.

This one guy in our party had a few too many drinks. There was a huge party next to us, where someone was celebrating a birthday, keeping our server hopping. When she brought our the cake to that table, and all the people started singing Happy Birthday . . .

This guy starts singing, along with the family, "bring my check out to me - bring my check out to me" at the top of his lungs! DH was mortified - and can you imagine how that celebrating family felt.

We NEVER go to WDW with any family, or any friends now because of this. It has caused hurt feelings in the last few years, but every time I picture that, I know I'm right to just go with my own family.

I too thought this thread was about a kid melting down! Surprise surprise! I've never seen anything like this on any of our trips thankfully. We did chat with one of the body guards that come out with the characters and he was telling us of some horror stories about people mistreating the characters while they were having their pictures taken etc. Hence the need for the body guards I guess. My husband and I both have no tolerence for the rudeness of people in the parks. Once the crowds get to thick, we are out of there and back at the hotel for some down time by the pool or pool bar! We did Sea World last year when they had the free offer to return to the park for 6 consecutive days promo. When the crowds or heat got to be too much we just left. We came back to the park for a few hours numerous times that week. It was the most relaxing best way to see everything without the aggravation! My daughter loved putting her hand in the sting ray tank and petting them as they swam by and numerous times adults with their cameras kind of shoved her aside and muscled in to take pictures. She just backed off and looked at me stunned! I used it as a lesson how NOT be behave when in crowded parks or anywhere. She too remembers how arrogant and rude people can be from first hand experience. Kind of sad...

I hate hearing stories like that. You would hope that Disney would escort them out of the restaurant and maybe even out of the park, but unfortunately they probably had to be "pc" and refunded their money...:sad2:

And I wonder how many of these tantrums, whether at a front desk or standing in line somewhere, is just a ploy to get something for nothing. (Make a big fuss and get my meal, and possibly the family's, for free.)
I like when guests get magic moments. But it irks me when a guest is given something just to be shut up and out of their face. That just condones and instigates further bad behavior, and ends up creating a monster. Glad to say adults throwing a temper tantrum does not always work in their favor.
Funny how instances happen where nothing can please a guest and the ONLY thing that will make them happy are free tickets to a hard event. (Just as an example.) :rolleyes1

Just the other day I saw this guy throw a tantrum because they were throughly searching his stroller and diaper bags upon entry to the Magic Kingdom. No language like that. He was well behaved compared to your guy but he went on and on about cost of his vacation and how he was not paying to stand around and have his bag searched. He wanted them to go into his bags and not open them for him like he was supposed. I suppose so he could yell about that. He just stood grinning at those of us around him like he was right. All I could think was DUDE they are doing this to protect us. Disney is unfortuantely a target for the bad guys.

I for one do not mind opening my purse to give them a look inside. They are good about not going into the back change pocket which allows me some place to hide anything personal and girly that I do not want them to see for example. They just want to have a look at the areas that could definately be hiding something bad.

Hey no fairs. I have had some actual bad experiences and never once was even offered a sorry let alone free tickets. *SOB* I guess my buddhist calm ways work against me. I try my best not to be angry. Although I do hold serious resentment for the way Tony's staff behaved.

Okay. I have a very weird, very gross Disney restaurant story. We were at the Rose and Crowne having dinner outside. It was during the food and wine festival. It was Me, DH, DD, DS, BIL, SIL and neice. After dinner was over, my SIL and I had to use the restroom. We had to walk through the bar to get to it. There was a group of people in the bar that were very roudy. I felt bad for the servers. One guy actually put his leg up on a chair blocking our path to the restrooms. I had to ask him to please move it. When we walked into the rest room there was......hmmmm, how should i say this tactfully....A VERY LARGE "bowel movement" right smack in the middle of the floor. Not even in a stall.  So needless to say we turned right around and walked back out. I asked to speak to a manager. Manager came and I quietly told him what we had found and I wanted to let him know ASAP so someone else didn't find "it" too. The poor guy was just like "oh my god". I felt soooo bad for the staff there that night. I will never go back there again though, especially during food and wine festival!

See I was thinking the same exact thing. How many of these people go in and show there butts with the intentions of having a meal comped! I worked in a casino and you saw lots of this after people spent to much money they would throw fits just to get free meals!!
