May 1, 2016 - Magic 7 nt cruise!

We're all adults, too. Unless my daughters decide they don't want to go, there are three of us. I may be a solo traveler, too!

Hello !
I was just on the Wonder for the 14 night West Bound Panama Canal cruise and my mom & I booked this cruise. We haven't done the Eastern Caribbean cruise yet.
We've only sailed on the Magic once & it was in 2008, so I'm curious to see what it looks like now.

This will be my second time on the Magic as well. My first time was 1999!

So far, it looks there are only 4 of us on this cruise! LOL I know it's a year out, but doesn't anyone else book early and get excited and want to talk to other fellow cruisers???

It's just my mom & I on the cruise.

I was wanting to get involved with different groups......like the FE for one.

Our recent Panama Canal cruise was a very active bunch. We had our own chat page on a different website, and had all kinds of groups & activities to get involved with. There was so much going on, that someone made a calendar & listed all the get togethers & activities so we could keep up with it. We all felt like we knew each other before we ever met on the ship or at the meet & greet on embarkation day.

I'm just spoiled & anxious to get to know people for this cruise as well.

Well, we're almost down to 11 months to go! Anyone going to WDW before or after the cruise?

Hi Everyone,
and Stitch68....you can count us in.
We will be on this cruise come 5/1/2016. My SNL, my DD, my GD [19 mo's] my Dw Kathy and myself, the Hoosier Daddy. We have two rooms booked on deck 6. And YES we do get excited and want to "talk it" up on here.
I can remember back on our May 2011 cruise, [ b-4 FB got on here ], we had 105 pages racked up on here on cruise day. Our last cruise last month we had a grand total of 6 pages on cruise day.
PS....like I said we just up graded and I just gave up a "secret" verandah cat 7, room 7620 starboard side if anyone wants it. It will save you some jingle if you have a verandah room already booked.

Can you say yes to B-4.....and Yes to after............. and can you say [in April/May 2013 ] a 4 days WDW visit sandwich in between a 5 day Magic cruise and a 3 day Dream cruise......that was a blast.pixiedust:

325 days!!!!!! the next time we hit May it will be cruise time! (if switching jobs mid year doesnt interfere eek)

weird. I wasn't getting the updates for this thread. I'll have to check on that.

I could talk about this cruise every day! LOL

Somethings we did on another cruise line to Hawaii - I can't remember what it was called but one person in each category of room offered to show it off so we had like twenty people traipsing the halls and stairs - starting at an inside cabin, then an oceanview, then a verandah, a room on back of ship (really cool to see waves), then a suite. It was tons of fun. People were laying on the beds and taking selfies, just fun fun fun. Last fancy suite had wine for us all to share.

I am not a gambler and I know no casino on DCL which i am cool with but we also all put in five bucks and had a slot machine and took turns pulling it. ended up with $20.

We had a meet up gathering after sail away to not interfere with that.

It was fun to have a variety of activities in addition to ship ones to go to. I had calendars and highlights out the wazoo

some of us unofficially played trivia every day too.

I am still hoping to go - I am in midst of looking for a new job and might move so hopefully the funds will be there and the time off. I need my DCL fix! Haven't been on her since October 2012 and it was Magic. I love the Magic.

I kinda solo traveled my first DCL - I met up for dinner with a friend and her family but did my own thing in day and had my own room. it was lovely, pricey, but lovely.

I traveled solo to Alaska on a Princess cruise

I traveled solo to Kenya on land trip - best vacay of my LIFE!!!!

My family just booked this cruise! It's my parents, grandma, and I. Do you think its too old to participate in a FE group?

Also, this is our FIRST Disney cruise...so does anyone have tips for planning/packing.

Finally, it's my parent's 30th wedding anniversary any ideas how to make their trip special?

i dont think it is too old at all! In fact, I heard wind on another place *ahem* that there will be an adult only FE group.

Yay on first Dis cruise!!

Placking/Planning: I do it way far in advance. I love looking things up, reading this board, researching excursions etc.

-Don't over pack. I always personally dress a little nicer for dinner - maybe sundress or slacks and RE-WEAR clothes!!! I might wear the same slacks three nights at dinner and maybe a differnet shirt in middle of three nights. no one cares!!! I bring sneakers, flip flops, dressy sandals, and black shoes usually. if i have brown skirt on, oh well the black shoes are going with it! dont take up too much room with shoes. maybe if you plan on a lot of swimming, two suits so one can dry. i have yet to use pool on any cruise i have been on bc too busy. PACK LESS than you need!!

-READ navigators each and every night. Pour over them so you dont miss details. There are like family animation classes (including kids) and adult only animation classes (adults only). I had so much fun doing this and the group was way small.

-I dont mean to overwhelm you, some people like to just go cruise and relax, i am a planner and a do-er so I like to have all my days scheduled out and itineraries and crazy stuff.

-Totally visit princesses and characters. I did as an adult on my one and only Magic cruise in 2012. Wear a tiara if you like too. It is all good! Some nowadays are ticketed events. Look at navigator in port terminal to see where to get them. when boarding, go get tickets first

-decorate your door with magnets! Fun to do, easy to find, fun for others (but not expensive bc there ARE thieves). some make own disney ones using printers and magentic paper

-Look up excursions in advance. I personally use DCL excursions bc i view extra cost as insurance that ship wont leave without me, but you can book privately but make sure sure sure to be back on time.

-Drop something off at Guest Services early with some sharpies and some treats (bag of Mand Ms) and you can have characters sign it. plan on doing a photo mat this time around. Ive seen decorative plates, totes, hats, pillowcases etc

-30th wedding anniversary specials: book them something at spa? book them a night or brunch at Palo? not sure if you can order a gift basket for room? pay for an excursion? (not sure on your finances LOL)
