March 29, 2013 8 Nights on the Magic

Hey! Thanks for the tip! I'm rebooking too. Lost my on-board booking discount and my OBC but still saving a few hundred. And you know what that means....more pins!

Actually, just yesterday, I offered to take my two young nephews along. My BIL is still considering it, but KSF will help alot!

Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention!

Tiffany, welcome. You are in the FE list now. Amy, we updated your cabins.

The squid is a great idea, thanks!

Torn on going NCL, love the Disney ships and advocate for them. There is not customer service anywhere that rivals DCL, and the quantity/quality of programming is, to quote the Motor City Madman, "extremo-beyondo!". When we were on HAL, I hated freestyle dining, and I got pretty bored and actually looked into bingo and the library for entertainment. Not bored enough to walk into the casino and hand over a $50 for grins and giggles. The change-up of islands were fantastic, though, and that is what I am hoping to get from NCL. When we are on Disney now, the ship is the destination, not the islands.

Will have to say that Barry from Boston in the piano bar saved the evenings on HAL, he went totally rogue and pushed the evening curfew out to midnight. Marina did great on "open mic night" and sang some great and difficult popular song only accompanied by Barry. Got a standing-O from the crowd.

THANK YOU for posting this!!! Our travel agent called today and saved us a bunch of money! I feel less disappointed about the itinerary change now. Susan

Great News! KIds sail free on this cruise! started this morning.

We lost our $200 OBC but are getting a refund of $1100 :cool1:

Thanks Erik for calling!

Glad to pass a long the tip.
Was planning on booking this cruise with the western ports. The cruise dates work great with easter vacation.

We were very excited about itinerary change because it added a story to castaway day. Plus, 4 sea days.

I see you are from Michigan. We are just south of Detroit (downriver).

Will you add us to the spreadsheet? Room 2608:
Tim, Susan, Rhiannon (15), & Corinna (10). My teen is very nervous about making friends and what the teen club will be like.

Susan,
Your teen will have a great time. My sure both kids go to their club the first night. It is when the kids get to know each other. There are some other teens in the group. You can have them email or Facebook or DIS.

Another great way is to come to the meet and greet for our group. The kids can meet each other before the programs start and have a few people that they already know.

My husband wants to know if he should add you to FE or just the meet.

Just booked this cruise!!! Kids sail free offer is great!

This will be my families 3rd Disney Cruise but 1st time on the Magic. I've been on the Wonder and Dream. I've also sailed on other cruise lines and Disney is one of my favorites. If anyone has any questions let me know I'll be happy to answer.

I'm in for the FE.

My family will be in Cabin 2085.

Me - Michelle
DH - Jason
DD - Courtney (5)
DS - Tyler (5)

Welcome Michelle, glad to have you onboard. One thing that comes to mind is your opinion on the new vs. old ships?

I actually liked the Wonder better than the Dream. The three plus things about the Dream though were the Aquaduck, Remy and Animator's Palette. Animator's Palette on the newer ships has the interactive screens where Crush came by and talked to some of the guests. Remy was EXCELLENT!! It seems like the cabins on the older ships are bigger too. My kids also weren't into the Oceaneers Club on the Dream. I think for the them it was a little too big plus the counselors were not as hands on as they were on the Wonder.

We have learned that bigger is not always better and prefer the ships under 100k tons. Wish they would get labeled for A list entertainment. We saw the old Crush routine at the Seas EPCOT and loved it, I can see where that would be fun on the ship too. Thanks for the thoughts.

Kids Sail Free was too good to pass up! :cool1:
So please add us to meet and greet and FE. Katie is Gold Castaway member and Susie, Alex and Renee are Silver.

We live near Disney CA but could really use some help on WDW - is the ticket to Epcot or Park? What is most fun to do at either for adventurous kids? Any place not to pass up for eating?
Also re Galveston, does Disney have buses to port like they do in Canaveral? We will be flying in and out of Houston. Any recommendations for hotels?
And are there assigned times for getting off the ship? Am wondering if we could make a 10:30 am flight home out of Houston. We love DCL - kids just did Wonder Mexico Thanksgiving and we have done a couple other trips out of Canaveral.
Here's a tip for first timers - you can bring beverages onboard (water, wine, liquor etc) as long as it is in your carryon, not checked. This is way different from most cruise lines.
Also has anyone heard of daily schedule - assume there is character breakfast and pirate night??
We are very excited and have found the Dis Board to be terrific for meeting others and answering questions.
Thanks to the FE s'sheet guru! I use Google doccs also so can help if you need it.
My granddaughter Katie is totally into DCL pixiedust: and knows everthing - don't hesitate to ask her questions as I let her answer using my login (only for the Dis Board!)

My granddaughter, Kylee (14), is looking forward to meeting girls close to her age so she can have some friends to go to the club with. This is our first cruise and I know there is supposed to be a "meet" when we can all get together so the kids can meet.
