Hello to everyone! I could not find a thread for the EBTA 2016 – so I started this one (I am a first time meeting thread starter:worried:). A good place to get to know our fellow cruisers and share planning information.

Let the dream and plan to start. :chat:

Time to introduce myself and my fellow traveller.

It is me – Trixie – and my dear friend Kris. This will be our 5th Disney Cruise. We are both from Berlin, Germany. We booked a cat. 5B stateroom on deck 6.

Hi Trixie!

Tom and I are booked on this EBTA. It will be our second TA. We were also booked on this year's, but I will have a double knee replacement surgery in April, so we had to cancel it. We are both Platinum cruisers on DCL.

We are both retired, and are hoping to be snowbirds, living in FL during the winter and in NJ during the summers.

I have organized Candy Exchanges on my most recent cruises. We use FEs to give out candy or snacks of local or regional tastes. We have gotten chocolates from Nebraska, cheese straws from Mississippi, orange flavored popcorn from FL, salt water taffy from Salt Lake City and NJ, Japanese candy, Candy from Great Britain, and many many others! Usually there is a print out from the Internet about the history of the treats. I keep the number of cabins in each group under 11, so no one gets sugar over load.

I look forward to meeting you and Kris!

Bobbi

:welcome:
Hi Bobbi!
First of all I wish you all the best and good luck for your double knee surgery.

We have done two TA so far. Both with Cunard and both about 25 years ago. The cruise ship was full with people over 90, half of them in wheelchairs and we were in our early twenties. It was really funny. All were very formal. Afterwards we paused a little bit with cruising. :-)

I love this candy exchange idea (I had to look up the cheese straws - in german we know them as Käsestangen (cheese sticks)). On our last cruise (B2B Southern Caribbean and Repo to Port Canaveral in 2014) we brought Kinder chocolate as part of our FE gifts (not the eggs, I know they are forbidden in the USA). Our server Putu from Indonesia told us that he loves Lindor (okay, these are from Switzerland). Lindor (like all the other Lindt chocolates) is very common in Germany, but I saw much more flavours in the USA.

I am looking forward to meet you and Tom onboard.

Trixie

HI Trixie, Kris, and Bobbi!

We will be joining you!

We are DH Eric, and me, and our young adult kids: Jennifer who will be 25 and Mark who will turn 21 on May 22 of the cruise! We are from Iowa City, Iowa, where both DH and I work at the University Hospital. DS is a sophomore in school here, and Jennifer graduated in May, 2014 with a degree in biology. She is currently working as a nursing assitant and taking post-grad classes.

We are Gold Castaways - I think this is our #8 cruise. Our second EBTA though - we were on the 2014 EBTA and has a great time! Not able to do it this year, because our son Mark's college final exams will not be done by then, but they will be in in 2016!!

After the 2014 EBTA, we flew from Barcelona to Dublin, where we spent 3 days. We are looking forward to going back!

:welcome: Deb and family! After the 2013 EBTA that we were on, we spent a few more nights in Barcelona. It's a wonderful city, and I wanted to go to Montserrat and we also did a wine country tour. After this cruise, I want to go to the WWII Sites. My dad had been in the war and was involved with the invasion. We have not ever been to Paris, and we would like to do that too.

More on the candy that we got from Japan. In US, we have Kit Kats that are crunchy cookies covered with chocolate. From Japan, they were similar crunchy cookies and they had a GREEN TEA icing! Very different and tasty. Also, from the DL in Tokyo there were little button shaped cookies filled with a chocolaty filling. I really liked those, and it was fun seeing the Disney Characters.

hi we have just booked today, we are sue and john from liverpool england, so we will be docking in our home town, we are also on the wbta this year, looking forward to visiting boston as we have never been there before

Boston is wonderfully historic. Our son and his family lived there for a few years. What do you think you will do there?
We had done a Princess cruise of the British Isles in 1998, but Liverpool was not one of the ports, so we are looking forward to visiting it. What do you suggest as a port excursion?

Bobbi

Hi everybody!

My husband Joe and I have booked this cruise as well! This is our first TA and will be our 12th DCL cruise (#11 is in 10 days on the Wonder!). We live in South Florida and visit the World often (as we are only a 4 hour drive away :)). My husband is a retired Navy Chief and currently works for Florida Power and Light. Joe, who spent 20 years on aircraft carriers, is excited for we will have 9 Sea Days on this cruise, haha!!

I retired three years ago and now take care of Joe and our kitty, Boodles. I'm also an avid walker and scrapbooker!
Looking forward to chatting with everyone...:sail:

Hi! I was a part time Mathematics professor at University of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, I have just sent in my forms to retire, Tom retired 2 years ago from an auto supply manufacturing position.

We are DVC owners and will be taking a short 4 night vacation this week to see the F&G show in WDW. My operation will be the following week.
