What happens if you're on an international flight and the airline loses, sorry "misdirects" :lmao:, your luggage? Do you have to go back to the airport to claim the luggage so you're there to get it through customs?

Flying internationally (Mexico) for the first time in 20+ years this summer.

If your luggage is misplaced upon your return to your home from an international flight, you do not have to go back to the airport when it is found. Once it is located, it will be delivered to your home. I know from personal experience.

Be careful in Mexico. Not a place I would visit anytime in the near future.

Thanks! One of those "I wonder... " type questions. Not that I'm really worried about it.

As far as Mexico, we probably won't even leave the resort.

In my experience you might have to go back to the airport. Depends on which way it's lost.

Our luggage was lost for a week in Mexico with the only thing making it to the AP 2 days after us were my golf clubs. I had to return to the AP as they would not send them to the hotel.

Our luggage made it home a few days after we did.

The old adage of carrying a few things in a carry on worked for us on that trip. We has bathing suits and that was about all we needed for the week :thumbsup2.

Funny.. I recently had a great visit to Mexico City, and might go to CancĂșn in April for a few days.

Oh, we ALWAYS do a carryon. I'm just wondering if we'd need to make arrangements to get back to the airport.

We do have a connecting flight TO Mexico, so it's possible the bags don't make the connection.

Great. Why is this funny :confused3

It just depends on your comfort level. Some areas of Mexico are fairly safe; many are not. I would prefer to do my vacationing in another place in the near future, but that's just me.

As for the luggage question, again, if your luggage from an international destination is delayed to your home airport, you do not have to go to the airport to pick it up. It will be delivered to you.

I guess it's because I live in a place that's statistically more unsafe than Mexico. And tend to view the State Department Travel warnings as a guide of where I can get to for cheap.
