Despite many internet searches, I still haven't made transportation plans for our Baltic cruise in July. We are a family of 5 including a son with special needs who is ambulatory but easily frustrated. For this reason, I'm thinking a car service might be best. We need to get from London Heathrow to Westminster Park Plaza hotel and then from the hotel to Dover and then from Dover to the airport upon disembarkation for a 3:20 flight.

Does anyone have recommendations for a reliable car service?

We are interested in touring Dover castle the morning of embarkation. Is this viable? I found a company on Londontoolkit.com that offers car service that includes a trip to Dover castle.

Should we be ok using Disney transportation back to Heathrow if we carry our bags off the ship ourselves as soon as the ship is cleared? Or am I better off with a car service?

I appreciate any advice. All other plans are made and this will hopefully end the planning stress!

Car service is expensive and personally it may be better on high speed trains.

If you want a car service.

I think you are looking at £150 or more depends on the car.

Dover castle is feasible from the dock but it will be a taxi ride, it's dodo a big climb up, you can see the castle from the ship and dock.

London tool kit is good and there tour sounds good.

I would suggest you get DCL to take the bags off the ship do not carry yourselves there isn't a port canaveral bridge just a steep gangway.

The bags if DCL take them off go a faster route into the terminal and you will be able to collect them very fast, of my 12 DCL cruises thus was the fastest disembarkation with very limited border control.

On the way back I suggest use DCL transfers there quick fast direct a tad expensive but cheaper than a taxi IMHO.

Thank you Disney Fantasy! If we do take high speed train, what would be the best way to get to the St Pancras station from Westminster Park Plaza? Do we have to buy tickets ahead of time?

I will give you a shout when we head out that way. No cruise for us I don't think. Too pricey, although tempting and looks amazing. Would love to see London- my dad was stationed out there during the Korean War. He has been to visit many times. Loves London and the people that live there. And they are so, so nice to him when he returns.

That's a nice bit of history and connection it our capital city.

Hi, we are staying at PPWB, too! I have decided to use a car service to get to the hotel from LHR. Not sure which company I will use yet, but am considering:

I'm sure there are more but I can't find my initial research right now. With all our bags, we do not want to use the rail. For the trip to Dover, someone in our meet group was kind enough to arrange a coach for us. Stoked!

Not sure how they compare price wise but Addison Lee (www.addisonlee.com) are a big private car service in London a lot of companies use (including the firm I work for). Unlikely to be the cheapest and not sure if they would do Dover but definitely reliable. You'll see their cars all over central London if visiting for a few days before.

We used Folkestone Taxi from Dover to Heathrow a few years ago (based near Dover).

We had a minibus with 6 people and luggage and it was 155GBP (in 2013). Driver was prompt and we would use them again if in the area. They were also quick to reply to emails.

When we did our Baltic Cruise, we stayed in one of Disney's hotels and took their transportation from the hotel to the ship. On debarkation, we took the Disney bus back to one of the Heathrow hotels [we were flying out the next morning.]. Going to the hotel in London, we used one of the bus/limo services right in the airport -- I forget which one. I am sure if you Google Heathrow, they will have a list of those companies and then go to their website to ask any questions and/or make reservations.

We will be on the 10 July Baltic Cruise, and have booked private transfer from LHR to Dover with Premier Taxi (www.premiertaxisfolkestone.co.uk). This service was recommended to us by a leading B&B in the Dover area. For our family of 4, the cost for the transfer from Heathrow to Dover will be £120.00, which includes 30 mins parking at the airport & a "Meet & Greet service" (whatever that is) .:confused3

That sounds great! Meet & Greet (I believe) means that they will park and meet you inside with a sign with your name on it, help you with your bags, then take you out to the car. Instead of you having to call to confirm when you have all your bags and are curbside and they just drive up.
