Let me tell you a little secret. And no, it’s not a secret wedding.

You see, there once was this couple who liked going on Disney cruises. They went on cruises with his parents, her parents, his brother, and even by themselves. They’ve already even planned an Alaska cruise. But there’s one thing they haven’t done.

Every time they come home from a Disney cruise they begin playing with their niece and nephew who are now 4 (5 by the time of the cruise) & 6 years old. They threw a couple of DCL House Parties and got them involved. They play the Castaway Club CD to which the kids know the song titles to everyone of the songs. They show pictures from the cruise and make the kids look in awe at them with Pluto, Donald Duck, and Brent Davies. They enrapture the kids with magnificent tales of Mickey Mouse rescuing them from pirates in the open ocean. Basically….they torture them.

And then, one day while they’re sitting there…Aunt comes up with an idea. “Why don’t we take the kids on a cruise ourselves. And let’s make it a surprise.” Thus, the secret. Thus, Uncle comes down with a severe case of heartburn. We take care of these kids for 2-3 hours and we’re ready to hand them off to mom and dad! She’s talking about 3 days minimum! Plus two for travel. We’ll be pulling our hair out!

But Aunt tends to get what she wants because Uncle is well…scared of her. So it winds up that in just a few days the 4 of us will be piled into a car heading for Florida. Niece and nephew won’t know what’s going on yet. And once we get to Florida, they’ll get a surprise of being joined by grandpa. But they won’t know that they’re going on Mickey’s boat until they can see it. Either Aunt and Uncle are in for the funnest trip of their lives, or we’re going to be absolutely exhausted.

    We leave in two weeks….

So, as you can imagine, we’re trying to do this right. The plan is to leave really early on Tuesday morning, the 30th and head down to Disney World, a place these two kids have never been to. We’re not going to a theme park, though. “WHAT” you say. HOW CAN YOU DARE TO TAKE THESE KIDS ON THEIR FIRST EVER TRIP TO WDW AND NOT TAKE THEM TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM?

It’s not our choice. Mom and Dad have committed to taking them to WDW as soon as both kids are big enough to ride all the rides, and not before. And they want to be the first ones to see the kids reaction when they do. So, no theme parks, but anything else at WDW is fair game.

Which leaves just enough room for Aunt and Uncle to come up with a plan for a day and a half. And boy do we have a plan. Dinner on Tuesday night at the Rainforest Café, a character breakfast at Chef Mickey’s on Wednesday, dinner at T-Rex Wednesday night. We’ll be riding the monorails during the day on Wednesday, taking a ride on the riverboat to Port Orleans, and for the big moment of the pre-cruise trip…we’ve got reservations for Niece at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Wednesday. Yeah, it’s a lot, and we’re flexible, so we expect that something’s not going to work out. We know it’s different with kids. You don’t have to remind us.

Another surprise is that around 1:00 in the afternoon, Niece and Nephew are going to turn around to find Grandpa walking up. You see, he only gets to see them a couple of times a year since he lives in Ohio and we all live in South Carolina. They have no idea he’s coming. (Of course, as of this moment, they have no idea we’re going on a trip at all.) We mentioned the cruise idea to him last year, and he absolutely jumped all over it. So he’s joining us and will be staying next door.

13 days to go until we leave.

Just a heads up- since your niece and nephew are 5-6 do they scare easy -or are they the types that are dare devils and love a thrill? T-rex can be scary for those that scare easy- my son just turned 9 when we took him and loved it. I've tried to do Rainforest twice -the last time they literally sat us under the elephant's but:rotfl::lmao:- service was extremely slow just to get drinks so we ended up leaving before ever ordering anything. Food at T-Rex was really good and they have a build a dino workshop( just like build a bear) Ask for the ice cave if you do T-Rex- .

Well...more it is. One week to blast off and what happens? Mom and Dad change their mind about the way they want to do things.

Now listen to this...they're going to drive, on Saturday, from the Upstate of South Carolina all the way to Key West with the kids. Spend Sunday and Monday goofing around on Key West. Drive on Tuesday to meet us in Orlando and drop the kids off with us, and then back to Key West to spend Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We tried to tell them how much driving they were in store for, but they won't listen. We also informed them that the kids needed to be in Orlando by about 3 PM in order to have a chance for us to keep the schedule we had for them. That makes their wakeup call in Key West for around 5 AM.

    I think they've lost it.

Yup, I think so. Poor Uncle and Aunt Mozart - those are going to be pretty tired kids on that first day. Any possibility of getting them to change their plans.

You know, that's a good question. We tried to watch POTC with them. He had no trouble with it but she got scared during the ghost scenes. We wanted them to know who Jack Sparrow was before the cruise.

Gonna need it. We're going to be busy, especially since it's only a 3 day and we have to try and fit in a "little" time for ourselves.

We've tried to get them to change. They're just not buying into it. I'm a little scared of what the ramifications on us will be. Especially that first night when we take them to Rainforest.

One more little tidbit, if you want them to stay clean and dry before you board don't take them walking on Cocoabeach the morning of. When I was 5 1/2 months pregnant with my son, DH & I thought it would be a great idea to take my 5 yr old twin nephews on vacation with us( a dry run so to speak:lmao:)
They were into space so we took them to the Space Center-we decided to just go walking on the beach- not go near the water-by the end of the walk they were soaked except for a 4 inch square in the middle of there backs:confused3. Let's just say it was a good thing I was already pregnant, and Thank God not carrying twins- otherwise we may have chose not to have kids after that experience- ;) now my nephews are 15:scared1:
As far as getting "a little time alone" two words Grampa & Naps (4 u not the kids:lmao:)
Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back
