Let's Get Ready to Crumble!- COMPLETED!

Shari, I thought I replied earlier while I was at the hospital with my DH during his procedure, but I guess I didn't. Love your review of Sci-Fi. Those onion rings had my mouth watering...I absolutely love them. Everything else looks scrumptious as well. I really am thinking about cancelling one of our breakfasts and going back to Sci Fi -- I just love it there.

Yummmm, that meal at SciFi looked very good. We too ordered the Beef and Blue salad last trip (minus the blue-got ranch instead) it was a good meal and not too heavy. Looking forward to another visit next month.
Keep posting- enjoying your trip very much.

Kat - hope your hubby is ok  We do love those onion rings - very tasty!

Bev - I too got the salad in the hope that it would be a lighter meal. The salad was light, but the cocktail, the onion rings and the dessert made the meal just as filling!:rotfl:

Thank you for reading - I hope to get another update sorted later today.

Shari, just caught up on your excellent reviews. Absolutely love the title too - makes me think of that PJ and Duncan classic :rolleyes1

Looking forward to reading more :thumbsup2

that pb and choc cake looks yummy. last year, i got a shake at sci fi but i'm thinking that cake may hit the spot this time. looking foward to sig review

I am loving your reviews! How was the oreo drink at Sci-Fi? My DH and I are going soon and he loves oreos. Looking forward to more great reviews!

Sunday 15th August

This was supposed to be a rest day - but you know what it's like - there's no rest in WDW!

After a morning of fun at Fantasia Gardens we staggered over to EPCOT to find some lunch.

We ended up at Sunshine Seasons because we know we can always find a variety of food to suit all our palettes.

It was really busy but we all wandered off to the different stations to order our food. There were still plenty of empty tables for us to sit at and enjoy our food.

Sarah and Kate both had a chicken caesar salad, Simon had the mongolian ginger beef and I decided to try the roasted beets and goat cheese salad:

I liked the way that you saw the server make the salad from scratch. And I really enjoyed this salad - the flavours were delicious, the goats cheese and beetroot really complemented each other and there were lovely walnuts on top to give the salad a nice crunch.

We had a couple of desserts too. Some sort of chocolate cake:

And I had the strawberry shortcake:

This was light and creamy and crammed full of fruit.

We stopped off at Club Cool to try...

.....yup, you guessed it - Beverley!

We came back to our villa to rest up for a while before going out for ADR at Artist Point.

We caught the bus to Downtown Disney and then we were lucky enough to find a bus to Wilderness Lodge right next to where we got off.

Once at the Wilderness Lodge we had a look around this beautiful hotel:

Ooh....look at us all dressed up!

Pretty soon, we could wait no longer and went to to check in. We were taken to our table straight away, despite checking in a bit early.

We had a lovely table in the corner, next to the window:

Keith was our server at AP this evening. He was very efficient and and knowledgeable. Although, perhaps not our friendliest server of the holiday - he was very businesslike, but he did a good job.

We were given sourdough bread and butter which was delicious and then Sarah and I shared some artisanal cheeses:

This was a nice selection of cheese which was just about right for the two of us.

Kate was more adventurous and had pulled short ribs with hoisin sauce:

How cute are these? They were beautifully presented on these little spoons. I had a taste of one of them and they were delicious! Lovely little bursts of flavour in each mouthful. Yummy!

Simon is a big fan of mussels so he plumped for the mussels in a thai sauce for his appetiser:

He loved the spicy flavour of these - this was a very different flavour to the mussels and one that Simon gave a big :thumbsup2

Keith recommended a gorgeous bottle of wine for us - a chardonnay from Oregon. We've always found that servers really know their stuff when it comes to recommending wine - we like the fact that they don't recommend the most expensive bottles either!

For entrees, Kate and I had the grilled beef tenderloin:

This was delicious - a really succulent piece of meat. Kate enjoyed this dish lots.

Sarah had the chicken dish:

I think this was served on a bed of pearl barley. She really liked it.

Simon had the buffalo dish which was served with brown rice served in a sort of crispy tortilla. He said it was gorgeous. Keith told us that we were entitled to side dishes on the DDP, so we got summer vegetables and truffle fries:

For dessert, Simon and Kate both had the chocolate terrine:

Keith warned them how rich this dessert was - this turned out to be true. Simon couldn't eat all his (although he loved it) but Kate managed to hoover hers all up!

Sarah wisely got a lovely, light berry mousse:

I tried the coffee duo:

This was a bread pudding with caramel sauce, a coffee cream pot and a little scoop of ice cream. Now, I'm not always a huge fan of coffee as a flavour - but this dessert was awesome!

Simon and I finished the meal with liquer coffees. I had a 'Lewis and Clark' and Simon had a Wilderness coffee. Both yummy with that lovely warmth to it.

This was yet another wonderful meal at this fantastic restaurant. We'd been here in 2008 and this was the one place we all agreed we had to come back to. And we weren't disappointed.

After the meal we caught the boat back to the Magic Kingdom - a really magical way to end the evening.

We don't have the full price of the meal, but based on the tip we paid, this meal would have cost around $300 if we hadn't had free dining.

We ended up paying $176.83 for the appetisers, the wine, the coffees and the tip. Well worth it.

Crumble rating: 8 out of 10 (would have been 9 - service was professional and helpful , but without that personal touch - ya know?)

Coming up: Chicken distress and a contender for 'THE BEST MEAL OF THE HOLIDAY!'

Oh My Goodness!!! Your meal from Artist Point looked and sounded wonerful!!! In fact, I am trying to figure out when to go! Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to reading more. I can't believe there could be a better meal. Do tell more! :woohoo:

Mark is fine (we were worried he would need an angioplasty/stent, but it turned out that it was a false alarm after they took lots of pictures; we're a-okay for our trip in less than two weeks).

AP looks absolutely wonderful. We've never done a signature (well, except Brown Derby and we were quite disappointed in that), but AP and Jiko keep impressing us with the reviews and food porn.

Artist Point was fantastic but there WERE at least two other better experiences! It's hard to compare restaurants against each other, because different types of restaurants provide different experiences. Expectations will always be higher at a signature restaurant. The perfect experience mixes great food with excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere. Thanks so much for reading.

We were always worried that we wouldn't fit in at a signature restaurant. But we first went to California Grill in 2006 and had the best meal experience of our lives up to then - due mainly to the wonderful service we had from Kevin who did everything he could to put us at ease. We went back in 2008 and had Kevin serve us again! Another great experience. We went back to CG this time....stand by to see whether it lives up to the expectations!

Jiko also coming up - as well as Narccoosees and Flying Fish. One of these 3 amazed us. One of them disappointed us. But which ones??? And who needs a signature restaurant for a fantastic meal experience?

Wow, all that food looks absolutely amazing!!! I'm hungry just reading your report, thanks for sharing.

Absolutley loving your review. Your Artists Point meal looks fabulous I'm trying to make up my mind betweeen a few signature restaurants and that's one of them. Your review on Sci FI sold me I want those onion rings.
