Hi everyone! Planning a trip to Laughlin & Vegas in August, been to Vegas lots of times, never been to Laughlin (Harrah's)- can anyone give me some info. on it? Do we need to rent a car there? is everything pretty close? Is there things in the area to see? How many days are good to stay there? Any info. is appreciated- looks beautiful, wanted to spend a few days there before we hit Vegas, don't know if we will be bored in a day or two- Getting a limo from LAS airport to Laughlin (About how far is it?) Does anyone know if there any airport closer to it? Thanks Anyone!

I’m probably not the one to offer advice. I got bored in Laughlin
in about 6 hours. I was really glad we only booked one night.

If you haven’t seen Hoover Dam it’s only about an hour fifteen
away. If you love hiking and outdoor activities like golf,
boating and fishing, there are plenty of places close by for
those things.

What I did enjoy was the old steam train and Oatman.

Have no interest in seeing the dam, don't golf/boat/fish- do shop, is there any shopping around there? How close is everything, can we walk it or do we need a car? What is the Old Steam Train & "Oatman"??? Why were you so bored? Do you gamble? Tell me all the details you can.

Laughlin is small and the casinos are close by but you would probably want to have a car. There is not much to do there if you dont like water sports on a REALLY HOT UNSHADED water area.

We gamble but did not find the gambling thrilling - the hotels are just average/moderate type places. It is NOTHING like Vegas and unless there is a special reason to go there I would sure skip it. It is primarily a destination for tour bus weekend gamblers.

That being said, it is very inexpensive and there are good food deals, but not particularly gourmet.

So are you planning again to got thier? I have a trusting website here where you can get big big savings for a trip and you can get lot's of package deal that you really love it! Me and my family try this and our trip are very fantastic! laughlin tours Feel free visiting Happy trip and good luck!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Laughlin sucks. Outright sucks. Why go to Laughlin when you can go to Vegas? Laughlin is small (VERY small), casinos are nowhere near as nice as in Vegas, it's quite a long drive from Vegas. I usually just say Laughlin is the middle of he**. It's often blazing hot, the scenery is nothing but nasty desert and it's not much fun. Kind of a low-rent Vegas, much like Stateline (Primm), although with a few more casinos.

If you're not planning to play on the river, then there's really no reason to go there.

Just stick with Vegas. You'll be much happier.

We've been to Vegas quite a few times. I got an offer from Harrah's for a Laughlin trip - no thanks! Everything I want for a casino-type vacation is in VEGAS BABY!

There is a tiny airport in Laughlin. Sun Country and Allegiant fly there.

Everything is pretty close, except the Avi Hotel. There is a small outlet mall also. I honestly wouldn't stay more than 2 nights there. The Nugget probably the nicest place. DH & I have gone for the weekend a few times to get away from the kids for a few days; and I'm ready to come home after 2 nights. If all you do is sleep late, have a spa appointment, gamble and have a nice dinner, you'll probably spend less money in Laughlin than in Vegas.

One thing I want to try, when the weather is cooler is this hike off Christmas Tree Pass Road, which is very near Laughlin. It is supposed to be an excellent place to see Indian petroglyphs:

Have fun planning your trip!

Thanks for everyone's comments, we leave on Sunday- Only spending 2 nights there- then off to Vegas. I realize there is truly no place like Vegas, but we like to see new places. Appreciate everyone advice!! Wish me Luck, need to hit a BIG jackpot!!

So, how was it?!?!?
Ok, nothing to write any trip report about (it would only be about 1 paragraph long) Kind of "low rent" river was pretty, NOTHING to do or see in the area, people at the hotel were great - very nice, but I would I ever go back- NO, couldn't wait to get to Vegas. Had the most "low rent" massage/pedicure ever- No showers, just change in what looks like an old storage room, as music is playing (relaxing music) you can hear a garage door BANGING, so funny I had to laugh, pedicure was done by the Hairstylist, who apparently does everything but massages. Haha, too funny. I wouldn't even waste my time driving there again, that ride is hysterical!! Nothing for MILES... I kept telling my husband "I see a starbucks up there" it was the standing joke the whole drive.

Thanks everyone for trying to warn me, that's what I get for not listening!! but it was an adventure...

Well, I guess you have to go once, just to see why you shouldn't ever go again. Glad you learned your lesson!
