We are flying into FLL the night before our cruise and don't get in until close to midnight. Not ideal- but it saved us quite a bit of money and it is just me and DH. We want to stay the night in Miami. What would be the best way to get to Miami that time of night- shuttle, cab or rental car?

It may be easier/cheaper to stay in FLL the night before and use a shuttle service like QLS/SAS in the morning to PoM. I don't think those shuttles run that late at night so you may be stuck paying the $75 ish for a taxi to Miami (so I have heard) vs. $15/pp in the morning.

(I'm trying to figure this out myself for a FLL > PoM cruise in December. I've used SAS before but I wasn't too happy with my FLL hotel.)

Most shuttles don't run that late at night and you may have a difficult time getting a cab to take you into Miami that late. I would choose an FLL airport hotel and book one of the many shuttle companies that take folks to the Miami port in the morning.

We are doing the same thing .11 pm arrival. We will be staying at the Quality inn & Suite Airport Cruise port south($130.00) then leaving first thing to Miami via SAS transportation. Have a nice cruise.

In March we ended up having our connection from JFK to FLL canceled on Jetblue. Instead of a 1.5 hour layover we ended up spending 7+ hours at JFK, getting in to FLL at 1 AM. Not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, especially when travelling with kids. We had Go Airport Service pre-booked from FLL to the Hampton Inn in Miami. Since we had already paid for both car and hotel we would have been out a few hundred $$$. Go had a car waiting curbside (called then from JFK with the change in plan). Walked out of FLL, in to car and we were checked in and in bed a little after 2. Good news is there is little traffic at that time of night. Slept in to around 9. Hit the free breakfast. Grabbed out stuff and headed for the ship via taxi.

Cost wise it was around $90. Yes you can get cheaper as others have suggested.. Not at that time of night however.
