I am thinking of bringing my own king size sheets with me when we go for the trip in May. Is this a regular king size bed or a california king size?

Thanks in advance for your input!:)

They are regular king. That is a great idea, we also bring at least a fitted sheet. Hate the normal hotel sheets.

Okay, I'll ask. What is a California King Sized Bed? Neither I nor my worldly DW has ever heard of that.

The dimesions of a CA King are 72x84 and were made popular by the water bed craze of the mid 70's. It is longer and less wide than a standard King bed.

I read a suggestion on this bb about bringing a fitted king size sheet & placing it over the flat sheet already on the bed. I tried this on our last trip & it worked quite well :)! Sure beats the flat sheets that come untucked when you open the covers!

If you bring sheets, make sure they are a different color from the existing ones. MouseKeeping may pull them off during cleaning and send them off with the others for wash.

I would suggest anything other than white or ivory.

I may try this for our trip in April, we also hate those non-fitted sheets that come apart after just a couple of turns in the bed.

Enjoy!

I suspect this isn't a problem for most DVCers as we only get towel and trash service and not a full housekeeping ...

When we put our fitted King sheet on our DVC bed, I take off their flat sheet and use it to 'triple sheet' the bed. It goes on top of the blankets and gives the luxury hotel feel. Also - I don't know when the blankets were cleaned last and the third sheet helps to protect us from the 'unknown'.

Since my sewing machine has alphabet embroidery, I've sewn:
Property of [our name]
DVC #[our number]
This is on the top & bottom sides, covered by the blankets and/or headboard. WE don't see it, but if I should happen to leave the sheet on when we get a full cleaning, mousekeeping will see it when they strip the bed. I haven't left it on the bed yet, so I don't know if would help us keep the sheet (or get it returned).

Yes, I do have colored sheets (to coordinate with BWV of course) as WE do get mousekeeping as we stay usually at least 10 days (got to make it worthwhile to pay the $$$ airfare from Colorado - this next trip is the first time we're paying less than $350/pp).

I too sometimes get frustrated with the flat sheets, but I don't bring a fitted sheet with because I just LOVE the feel of those 800 thread count sheets DVC uses! No way my $30 sheet could feel as good as THAT!

Also, someone said we didn't get a full cleaning. NOT TRUE. Any of us who stay more than a week get one full cleaning and one T&T.

Thank you all for your replies. I knew that my friends on the Dis would have the answer to this question!:)

OK, Mary Ellen spill the beans - what colour did you pick out the BWV scheme?

thanks

On more than one occasion, we have gotten T&T on unscheduled days and once we also had the bedsheets changed when we weren't expecting it.

Perhaps the Mousekeepers were looking to spread some pixie dust or just looking for a better tip?

Light green for the King bed and peach for the Queen bed when we get a studio ot 2-br. Orange would have worked better for the queen, but too hard to find. At least they stand out from the white DVC sheets. While not 600 count, they're better than 150.
