We stayed at POR in a Royal Room at Parterre Place, river view last October. I highly reccommend the mansion section. It was beautiful, peaceful and we loved watching the boat to DTD go up and down the river. You'll love it there!!

I'm happy to see a few more positive reviews here -- it didn't really start off too well and I was getting worried. HA HA. Thanks for all the comments -- they are really appreciated. As much as we wanted to go back to CSR (because that is the only place we've been and knew we loved it), I had some anxiety with clicking on that "BOOK NOW" button and making our reservation at POR. It's always good to try new things, right? Made some dining reservations for places we didn't try out last year, too. So, I really think this year's trip will be quite different from last years. Can't wait to go, and my anxiety level has lowered a bit as well :thumbsup2

Thanks again for all the replies.

We love love love POR. We are getting ready to book our next trip and while I would like to try something new my love for this resort is nagging at me. We stayed at Pop Century last trip and we totally regretted it. We have never had issues with the food court being busy but we eat breakfast on the run and probably miss the crowd at other times during the day.

This is the second time I have seen you post this so its evidently really bothering you. You should send an email to Disney to let them know. And FWIW, this could really happen in any section of the resort or at any resort at all so I would not discourage people from staying at POR. If this is the worst thing that happened on your trip, then you had a great trip :thumbsup2. Oh, and P.S., who can hear someone yell anything when they are working behind a leaf blower? I could be in my husband's face yelling something and he couldn't hear me if the leaf blower is on. Just saying.

OP - if you re considering Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace, I wouldn't to point out that their location is essentially the same. Magnolia Terrace is a few steps closer to POFQ if you intend to walk there at all. But, the bridge to the main pool and main buildings is directly in the middle of Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace so it doesn't matter either way for that.

Thank you so much for this information :thumbsup2 That would have eventually been one of my next questions. Good to know. Do you know if one is closer to the quiet pool, or are they also about the same distance apart? Thanks again!

For background we've stayed at every Value (with exception of the suites at AoA) and Moderate resort. Far and away POR is our favorite. I lived on the Texas/LA border for a few years and love the Alligator Bayou rooms. Princess & the Frog Themed and felt like I was back in the bayou. Great theming. The only drawback was our room was in building 39 which seemed equidistant from the two bus stops and the main lobby. That was the only drawback. It is very nice to ride the boat over to DTD and just stroll around the grounds. Beautiful resort, have a good time!

Thanks so much! I will definitely report back about the resort. Didn't do a trip report last year, so maybe I'll attempt one this time. It will be nice to be able to compare CSR and POR for myself. We enjoyed CSR very much and were all set to book there, until I started researching other resorts. :lmao: Once that happened, it was pretty much all over . . . I wanted to try another resort. So, we shall see, but I am really beginning to look forward to it.

Thanks everyone for helping calm my nerves a bit. You all are great! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I'm sure had she/he not continued they would have gotten in trouble for not finishing their job..

POR is gorgeous. We stayed there back when it was Dixie Landings and can not wait to stay again in 199 days. We stayed at POFQ in Sept and spent a good deal of time at POR..its a great resort.. lots of Deluxe feel without the deluxe price!

As you can see from my signature, I've stayed at a lot of on property resorts! Am returning to POR for the third time in 13 months in April! Something really clicked when we stayed there the first time last February. Busses were hit or miss, however I can't say that it is any worse than every other resort, even GF! Food court is crazy at times too, but again, every other resort quick service food area is crazy at peak times, again, even GF. The rest of the resort is just lovely lovely lovely....and the rooms are newly renovated! Enjoy!

[WQUOTE=JeanetteK;47592269]Hi all :wave2::wave2: I just booked POR for myself and my husband. Booked a river view room. I have no idea which building to request :confused3 Any suggestions?

Booking this was totally a leap of faith based on all of the reviews and photos I've seen here. Last year was our first visit, and we stayed at Coronado Springs. We loved it there, thus the nervousness of booking POR. :scared::scared: If you've loved a particular resort, how do you make yourself excited about staying at a new resort?

Anyway, we're so excited -- only 58 days to go :cheer2: If you can provide any suggestions for a nice room location for POR - River view room, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, help me calm my nerves and assure me that we have made a good decision about this resort. Thank you all :worship::worship::worship:[/QUOTE]
We stayed at por last year and we were in building 85 Magnolia Terrace. I would ask for a room on the second floor to avoid the stairway. When you leave the building you have a short walk over the bridge to the food court, pool, and Fulton's General Store. I think this resort is one of the most beautiful resorts in Disney. We love it so much we are going back in April. Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

We stayed at POR several times and the only "crowding" issues we had were at peak mealtimes in the food court area. Same goes for buses - the only time we had a wait were at peak departure times from the parks back to the resorts (such as, after the fireworks when nearly EVERY resort bus line was long). CSR is so much more spread out and involves a LOT of walking which was a hassle for us with small children - pushing strollers, as well as a lot of walking for my mom (who is in her 70s). The grounds at CSR are beautiful, but I think POR is just as lovely. Especially along the River. I distinctly enjoyed the early morning walks from our rooms to The Mill - so incredibly peaceful and picture-worthy. Perhaps we might prefer CSR over POR someday when the kids don't come along with us anymore? I don't think you can go wrong with either.

As for POR suggestions for rooms - I'd just ask for any room away from the main pool since it could possibly be a noise issue if you decide to spend some nap time in your room in the middle of the day, etc.

We have stayed at POR and have no problem recommending it. Beautiful resort, good food, great place to walk around especially to POFQ along the river, wife and I had a fun time taking the horse drawn carriage ride, and the boat to DTD is fun.

My favorite resort is WL and my wife's the Poly, but we still have not stayed at the same resort twice. We want to stay at as many of the WDW resorts as possible just to experience all the different themes. We have not been disappointed yet with any of them. They all have their charm, I'm sure after reading many post here many will disagree with this statement (strongly), to each their own.

But if you absolutely, positively refuse to stay at another resort, you just might not find your NEW FAVORITE resort. If I didn't stay at one of the WDW resorts because of the negative reports I have read on this board, I literally would not have stayed at any of the resorts we have stayed at. Over the years I have read negative reports for each and every resort we have stayed at.

Keep your reservation there and when you get back give us a PROs and CONs report on POR.

We stayed in a Royal Room last summer and enjoyed the resort very much. :)
We have two young children, so our experience is quite different from what yours will be.
Regardless, for a young couple such as yourselves, I can see you enjoying a quiet walk around the resort, as the landscaping and atmosphere is very peaceful. A late night bite to eat and drink watching Yee Haw Bob is great fun. And a serene boat ride to POFQ and DTD is very convenient and will give you a chance find some new eats.
I can't imagine you guys not having a great time there.
