Haunted Mansion at Disneyland has a unique feature that none of the other Haunted Mansion rides have. What is the feature and why is it required?

For two bonus points, there is another ride at Disneyland that has the same issue. What is the ride and how have they worked around the issue on this one?

The stretching room of the Haunted Mansion is actually a lift. This was necessary as the actual ride building of this attraction is located outside the berm surrounding the park. Pirates of the Caribbean has the same issue and it is addressed by two drops at the beginning of the ride and a lift hill at the end.

I have since found out that there are two further rides that have the same issue: It's A Small World and Splash Mountain.
