I have searched the board and found part of the answer to my concerns about my daughter and JTA.

She can participate in a wheelchair. :goodvibes

My question now is.....must she be able to self-manuver her chair?

She has the ability to understand basic direction and the control to wave a light saber around, but does not have the strength or coordination to self propel in anything but a straight line.

Would one of our party be able to help get her into position? :confused3

Thanks for your help!

My son uses a chair part time and he did JTA a year ago. When he signed up he was in his chair and when we took him to the location to get his robe and line up he was in the chair. The CM was very nice and asked if he would need any help. I told her that I was not sure and she said that my husband or I could push him and put him into position if he needed help.
My son was feeling good and decided that he did not want to use his chair for the show so I can not tell you for sure how it works. Just be sure to let the CMs at line up know ( not the ones that sign you up) that help is needed if they don't ask.

Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that one of us can help with positioning her!:goodvibes

I didn't know if you had actually seen video of the Jedi Training, so I found a pretty good example for you.

The ramp is to the top right of the picture. It's also possible that the Jedi helper might be able to help - they kind of steer the kids in the correct direction and place, as you can see from the video.

For getting a place in the training, I would suggest mentioning it to your wish granter and to the staff at a Make a Wish (during orientation). They have ability to make some things that are part of the wish happen that might not otherwise be able to be arranged.
It's hard to tell on a daily basis how quickly the spots will fill up. Some days, it is soon after rope drop and sometimes still have spots at 10.
The later you arrive, the less selection of times is available; if you need specific timeframe because of treatments or whatever, let them know at MAW.

Thank you so much for posting that! I love how responsive the CM was with the boy who needed to leave.

This is not actually part of Faith's wish so I'm not sure if her Wish Granter would be able to help much. Wouldn't hurt to ask though. :thumbsup2

In regards to sign up, would an 8am ADR at H&V help or hurt us?

It should help because you will already be in the park by the time it opens (unless it is an EMH day - Extra Magic Hours, when the park opens early for guesting staying at Disney resorts)

Even if it is not part of her actual wish, it is part of her wish trip, so worth asking. I know other people have asked for a specific restaurant time that was not part of their wish and they could not get a reservation for it themselves.

Itinkso would probably know the answer or be able to find out for sure. Going to give her a heads up on this thread.

Thank you! She replied to another question I had about JTA and EMH in a different post. :goodvibes

Thanks for the alert!:)

An adult is welcome to be onstage to assist throughout the session as your DD will need to be maneuvered to the onstage practice spot, to and from training against Vader or Maul (if he is there), and then the disrobing and certificate portion of the show.

The Wish Granters, in the past, have pre-scheduled Wish guests for training sessions and the special M&G. The JTA cast would always know a day or two in advance that a special Wish guest would be in a session.

Be sure to ask about the pre-scheduling as they will give you more time to enjoy your breakfast and you'll be assured of a spot since it is an EMH morning.
