IS there any place where I can see the items offered and the prices for the setting for the pearls?

Josh at Easy wdw had pics up on his blog. I'm on my phone but maybe someone could help you out with the link.

Okay, I must be dense...can't find the tip. :confused3

Herm, I must be, too! I know I read it somewhere online. I've been reading so much about WDW for the past month... The tip is to pick the ugliest, hairiest one... Sounds counter intuitive, but I guess they're more likely to give you double pearls.

Oh, you know it was probably this article:

But I also recalled that Josh had written about the pick a pearl... so I thought it was that one. :rotfl2:

This DISer confirms the tip:

By the way, if you do the pick-a-pearl, you should look into getting the "pearl cage" pendants ahead of time on eBay. They are significantly marked up at WDW... by $20-$49...

If you do purchase one on eBay, make sure it's real silver. Otherwise, it will turn after awhile and you'll have to get a new cage/setting.

Has anyone seen a sterling one sold online? eBay seems to have only plated ones.

Or paint it with clear nail polish.

Here is a picture from easywdw.com that shows some of the settings and prices. You'll see the Cinderella carriage is $49.95

On Aliexpress.com, you can buy pearl cages that appear to be 100% identical and cost $0.92 wholesale. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/18kg...t-wholesale-sold-by-500pcs-lot/483933753.html

The cages from China are made of copper/bronze and coated with rhodium to give them a "white gold" color.

I've yet to go to WDW, so I don't know whether the cages for Pick a Pearl are in fact identical or are made from real sterling silver. Anyone getting one should look for the 925 stamp. Without that, I would assume these are the same ones from China.

If they are real, the price makes more sense. However, I'm skeptical because the designs appear to be completely identical. I suppose it *could* be the same mold. It's hard to know.

I do plan on looking at them when we go out of curiosity, but that won't be until December.

We went for what we thought was the ugliest hairiest oyster...and did end up with twin 6 mm pearls. I didn't think it would actually work so it was quite the surprise!

We ended up having them set into sterling silver earring posts for our daughter. It was $20-30 for the earring posts but worth it since our daughter reacts to any plated jewelry.

I went for the ugly, hairy one and got a single, silver 7.5mm pearl.

Thanks for all the help. Dh and I are not going until Nov for our 30th anniversary and it turns out "pearl" is the 30th anniversary. I haven't decided exactly what I want yet, but I"m enjoying planning for it. DD and I both did it on our last trip to WDW before she got married and I got a simple silver necklace setting.

I have the cage from WDW and it is indeed sterling silver.
