Hi Everyone! My name is Wendy, and this will be my first cruise or
Disney cruise. We, my daughter Maya (8) and my son Robert (5), have wanted to do this for a while. What is the Mixology class? For adults only? Oh, also, can you tell me...do they do a Castaway 5k each cruise?
I'm sure I'll have tons of questions as the big day get closer. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Wendy,
Feel free to ask all the questions you have, we are all here to help! I have added you to the FE list and as it gets closer I will be updating with more information. We have FB group FB started as well .You can choose to follow that group or this one or both. Regardless both will contain the same information, just different FE groups as not everyone has a FB. If you wish to just stay on this Forum please send me your email address so I can send you FE forms as they become available to distribute.
The mixology is for adults only. The mixology is like going through a mini bartender course – but way more fun! You’ll learn to create popular cocktails, making them first hand and then, of course, tasting them. During this seminar, the bartender will discuss ingredients and details of preparing cocktails, tell you about the proper glasses, teach you how to use the equipment, and much more. This for our group purposes will be a great Meet and great for those participating in the FE and NOT participating in the FE. It's for anyone who would want to join. We would attempt to book a seminar for our group depending on how many want to sign up. As it gets closer we will also distribute more information about this. If this is something you would like to do as well as the FE let me know and I will add you to that list as well as it is separate. There is an additional cost for this as well which will be completed through
Disney Cruise Line.
Castaway 5K-
Once you get on the ship head straight to Guest Services. Let the Cast Member know that you'd like to sign up for the
Castaway Cay 5k and they'll handle your registration! This is
not something you have to sign up before you arrive on board. The race is open to adults and kids. If you have little ones not running, you WILL be able to check them in to Scuttle's Cove*, on Castaway Cay, before you start the race.
*Scuttle's Cove is the youth services program on the island for children ages 3-12.
What happens on race day? An envelope with your excursion tickets will be left in your stateroom the night before you arrive to Castaway Cay. In this envelope you'll find tickets detailing where and when to meet, on board, for your race. On my last cruise we met around 8:30 am in The District. You will need to bring your Key to the World and photo ID so be sure to plan on a place to keep these while you run (they will offer a box to hold things for you). An Entertainment Cast Member will give you safety pins and your bib once you arrive. At your meeting spot you'll be given race instructions, go over the course map, and get in some final stretch time. Once it is time to get started, the CM will escort you off the boat and to the race start. There is a bit of a walk (8-10 minutes) from the boat to the start - be prepared.
