We will be staying off-site for the first part of our trip. Then, we plan on visiting AK on the day that we decide to check in at the AKL. We plan to be at AK before opening, staying a few hours, then checking into AKL. Should be check in first (which would be around 8am)? Is there an advantage to getting our keys early (like where we will be placed or can request)? Thanks for the help.

if you have a particular room request you're better off checking in early. if you have no room preferences it really won't matter.

if you have your passes and charge on your room passes yes, as you'll only have one thing to bother with. plus you can leave your luggage and come back and it'll be in your room waiting for you ( guessing you are not doing the magic express thing if you are off site first) and you might beat the rush of check ins.
