I think only limit is that it must fit thru x-ray machine at security.

Correct--they use a standard airport type scanner. It must fit.

We went on with a standard size wheeled suitcase and it fit through the scanner just fine.

According to the book: 2009 Birnbaum Guides Disney Cruise Line - The Official Guide:

"Each guest may bring two pieces of luggage, plus a carry-on bag and a purse or briefcase aboard. Carry-on cannot be larger than 9 inches by 14 inches by 22 inches and does not count as part of the two-bag-per-passenger quota. The bag should include ID, valuables, shorts, swimsuits, grooming supplies, hats, sunscreen, and anything else you'll need during those first hours onboard. Put breakable items in your day bag, too."

    Hope that helps!
