I haven't read all the replies, but here is my 2 cents worth: make a decision that you will make this trip as cost effective as possible OR decide that you deserve a treat. And take it from there.

You will never be able to justify the cost of the YC - don't even bother trying. It's expensive as heck, plain and simple. But there is nothing wrong in treating yourself a little, once in a while. You don't have to justify the cost to anyone but yourself, and if you feel you've earned the right to pamper yourself a little - do it!!!

Having said that - be prepared for the outcome. You will never, ever, ever want to stay in a value or moderate hotel again! Staying at the YC or BW or BC is AWESOME!!!

Even with the added fee and either transportation to and from the airport or parking (you only have to pay for one or the other) it is around $200 per night less expensive to stay at S&D.

I guess I meant it was expensive for what we thought was the equivalent to a McDonalds-type burger. Caesar salad was $12 or $13.00.[/QUOTE]

I wanna got to the McDonalds you go to if they serve burgers like the ones at Beaches and Cream!

It is a beautiful resort and they have a wonderful pool there. We stayed there once and will not go back due to their limited counter service options and the number of resorts the buses stop at. I did love being able to walk to EPCOT.

You do get free parking at the parks. You wouldn't have to pay for both airport transportation and a rental car.

I hope so too! We've stayed at Boardwalk and the Beach Club. We love being able to walk to Epcot (3-5 minutes and we're in France) and Hollywood Studios, about 15-20 minutes (or boat). It is a nice walk to both parks.

    Good luck on those discounts.

Perhaps if you are paying rack rate? I'm staying 7 nights at YC for $1330 this summer.

Oh, thanks for pointing out the car rental/airport thing. I guess I need to proofread better before I post. I've amended my original post to say OR, not AND. I paid for parking at the theme parks when I stayed at the Dolphin several years ago. I see they have changed it. I suppose that's the least they could do after forcing everyone to pay the resort fee whether they utilize the amenities or not and for also having to take that loooong walk to and from the parking lot each day if you don't valet. :0)

The Dolphin is lovely with lots of food options. Pool area is very nice as well. But as I said earlier, if given the choice, I'd still pick YC (especially at the rate I'm getting).

I agree with DSL. Personally, the beach club and the boardwalk are my favorite resorts, but particularly the beach club for #1 :thumbsup2 lol. Numbers 2-5 also count for the boardwalk, however their pool is kind of lacking :(. Anyway about the beach club....my favorite thing is on a hot day, walking into the breezeway and getting SLAPPED with that cool, sweet smelling air. OMG it feels so amazing, I usually walk in more than once hahaha. My dad loves the Beach Club because of the all you can eat clams at Cape May hahaha. Also, The Beach Club has an awesome new resort t-shirt out :P

Make your way over to the DVC Rent/Trade section and you'll see you may be able to afford it however you'll have to plan WAY in advance! Also, keep the DVC Rent/Trade thing between us....less competition that way ;) lol

Just returned from a March 1-5 quick trip. Stayed CL Standard. YC is very relaxing for our family with two girls 7 and 4. There was more a business class mentality at the hotel, but staff was very outgoing and helpful. Ate more at the parks because of the lack of Quick Dining. Transportation was great, and walking into Epcot was so easy during the day. Would stay here again for the right deal, but may try BC for the more relaxed feel over the summer or fall. Have to say though that the YC is a beautiful place to stay.

Only you can answer for yourself if it is worth it. My first stay at AKL I was sitting on my bed, looking out the sliding door at the zebra saying to myself "worth EVERY penny" with a chuckle:goodvibes! When I stayed at SSR though I had a great time and enjoyed my stay I wasn't really thinking it was "worth it" - and thought I would rather use DVC points to stay there in the future.

Anyway - I might look for the best price I could find and then see for myself. I could imagine a short walk back to the resort after a night at Epcot would be worth it for me! Good Luck!:)
