Is it rare to get some kind "critter" on a ground floor room at POR?

My kids would consider lizards in the room a major perk . . . I guess there's no chance of this on the top floor? :rotfl:

POR & POFQ - ground floor - many times - No encounters with BUGS! :crazy2:

If we see a bug or a 4-legged mouse, I think you will see this handicapped lady speed away on her scooter as fast as it will go! :hyper:

POR & POFQ are quite clean. I recommend both highly! :thumbsup2

Would you be OK if the mouse had something other than 4 legs? :lmao:

We've been at all the mods and have stayed on the ground floor for all but one of our stays. There are critters all over the place at WDW. Most of them won't hurt you. We've had the occasional palmetto bug or little lizard in the room. No big deal- the lizards aren't that hard to catch and we've occasionally been able to smack a palmetto bug- but I agree- those little buggers are fast!. Given that WDW is one big swamp, I'm not really surprised by seeing anything, but am grateful that most of the time the wild life in the guest rooms is usually limited to the human kind. ;)

The bugs and critters being mentioned can show up at any resort. They have nothing to do with a resort being clean vs dirty. Florida is a huge swamp, there is no keeping those things out if they want it.

But I agree with you, I highly recommend POR and POFQ too!:goodvibes

I will take any bug or critter except snakes. I live in a rural area and we do have snakes i kill every one i see once my heart rate goes back to normal.I guess its the fact that they move so fast but have no legs that freaks me out.

The only "critter" we've had in any of our resort rooms was at BWI on the 3rd or 4th floor.

We left the patio door open a few seconds too long and a palmetto bug (aka flying huge roach) flew into the room.

I've been on the ground floor at VWL, Pop, POR, BWV, BCV. I have never had any uninvited guests....yet. I have had largish bugs fly in when I've left patio doors open on higher floors. You get lulled into a false sense of security up there, so tend to leave doors to the outside open. But, that's when the bugs fly in!!!

DH & I will be staying there in a few months, I'll have to watch out for critters. As long as they're lizards or frogs, I won't freak, but crawly things - yuck!:lmao:

In many years of stays at WDW, I have never had a critter in my room at WDW. One time we saw a gecko wander into a building lobby. We propmtly picked him up and put him back outside. not saying it can't happen, but we've never had a problem.

Disney is pretty proactive about critters. They do lots of non-toxic options for pant pests and that sort of thing. A few years back they were very big on relseasing lady bugs to control aphids. They talk all about pest control in the behind the Seeds tour, especially if you ask them about it. It was not so much about bigger critters..but lots about insect pest management.

There was an interesting post here about a gator that got into bathroom in MK...

Reading through the posts....I am reminded that one time we saw a tree frog outside our room, on a building exterior. We thought it was pretty neat.

We have seen plenty of lizards and rabbits outdoors at WDW, but nothing in our room that I can recall. Three times we've had drippy faucets, and mutliple times we've had wet carpets.

We had a ground floor room that was critter free.

When we checked in our room wasn't ready, so we went to the food court for lunch. We received a text that the room was ready but DH and I weren't done eating. The boys decided they wanted to find the room by themselves. Several minutes later the cell phone rang! It was them....yelling "snake"!!!:rotfl2: It slithered out to welcome them on the walkway by the room!

We were on high alert all week long, but didn't see another one!!!

Not exactly in the room but.... Last summer a frog got tangled in my hair at the main pool at POR. :rotfl2: Don't know which of us was more freaked out. My daughter saw it as a sign that he wanted to go home with us to NYC. She was a little disappointed when we said no . My spouse set it down in the flowerbeds after untangling it from my head.

    A little :offtopic:
We had guest over one night at our house here in the up-state of SC.
I went to the door and opened it to see if it had started to rain. Ted was sitting on the short couch next to our front door. Bry-Bry their little 4yo DS was in the doorway of the living room that led into the hall. I looked down and saw what looked like a black snake coming in the front door. I didn't notice this until I had let go of the door and it caught it about half way in the door.:scratchin Well when I said dang, Ted said what, I said it's a snake, Ted then jumped up onto the couch from a sitting position, ran/jump to the other side, jumped over the arm of the couch, hit Bry-Bry their little 4yo DS knocking him to the floor, hitting the floor himself, rolling across the floor and through the dinning room.:rotfl2:
Needless to say I helped the snake back out the front door,;)made sure Bry-bry was all right:thumbsup2 then had a good laugh.

Sometimes you don't have to go far to have fun.;)

We had a studio and 1 bedroom joined at At OKW on the ground floor.
I was checking out the larger bedroom while DD put her infant DD on the bed to change her diaper. I hear a Mom you better come here. I see her sweep up her baby and she points to mouse turds on the bedspread.

I was not a happy camper. I got on the phone to the desk and explained what was happening. They sent a CM right over to inspect and she quickly called someone on the phone and arranged to get us another room.

As it turned out OKW was completely full and they sent us over to AKL. I was disappointed as I really enjoy staying at OKW but I was glad that they took our distress seriously and moved us quickly.

We never did see the mouse and we laughed when we told the CM that chocolate kisses from Mickey Mouse would have been fine on our beds!:thumbsup2
