I keep looking at small contracts and it is so hard to come across one with my UY of Oct. Is it difficult to manage a different UY? Does anyone here have more than one UY? Thanks

I have two UY's at two different resorts (Feb & Oct). Easy to manage, but mostly because I have almost the same number of points at each resort. So I bank one, borrow on the other and make all reservations that way.

    If I were getting a small number of points as an add-on, I wouldn't want 2 UY's.

We made the mistake of 2 UY's and to me it's a pain in the butt.

I personally have the same use year for both, but different account numbers. That in itself is annoying enough. I wouldn't want them to be two different use years on top of that. It's much easier to just remember one banking deadline.

We also have 2 UY's and I don't think it's that difficult but neither has only a small amount of points. I would not recommend a different UY that would only have a small contract. It wouldn't be impossible to deal with but kind of a pain.

A few years ago, I almost bought a small contract with a different UY. I made an offer which was countered and then I simply said, OK. The broker was suprised that I didn't counter, but in the end I decided it would be too much hassle and went with a direct purchase.

I think if the contract is big enough it will work out okay. But, if it is too small, it could pose an issue.

We just bought BWV with a different UY, but went with 150 points instead of 100 so that we had the flexibility to book whole nights the way we wanted each year without issue.

Basically, we were looking to book 2 nights in the summer and then a long weekend for F & W. For the most part, this will work without having to worry about mixing it with points from the BLT contract.

We did that with our first add on but the prices on these resales are sooooooooooo much lower in price. I know it is so easy to just call and buy some from Disney though.

We are okay w 2 UY. Our main contract was direct, we wanted 60 more points, found anther contract resale at our home resort for 75 different UY (they were and are still sold out at our home resort). We just make reservations for a few nights on each contract and link them but we only do 1 big trip per year on our points wich is set well in advance so its easy for us. I guess it depends on how you're planning on using it...

Shuffling points I could handle, but I tend to forget those dated-obligations, such as birthdays and banking unless I have them in a calendar screaming at me. I'm thinking my add-on will have to be the same use year as what I currently own.

We have two use years and I wish I hadn't done it. Much more complicated IMO than just managing different resorts with the same UY.

We have a 50 point contract that is a different UY than the rest of our points. We generally use all of our points for 1 or 2 trips per year. We simply transfer the 50 points to our other contract and use all the points as a single contract. I am considering buying a contract at a different resort and, although I would like to find a contract that is the same as one of my other two UY's, I would not be opposed to a 3rd UY if the price was right. Smart phones have made remembering banking deadline less of an issue. With the contract that I am looking for, I do not plan to transfer the point to either of the other contracts. I would either use them on their own or for a split stay with my current home resort.

See I think transferring is a good idea since we get one per UY right? Also I think if we did get a small contract with a different UY I would try to get either a month or two on either side of our Oct. UY. I think that might be easier to keep up with.

We have 2 different use years at two different resorts. We kept buying small add on contracts for our second resort / use year until we now have about 250 points in each resort. We think of them as two separate timeshares. Keeping track of banking deadlines for two use years isn't any harder than remembering the banking deadline for 1 use year. Just look at your points on dvcmember.com from time to time and you'll see the deadlines coming up.

    Good luck!

We are considering doing 2 UYs as well, but one for WDW and one for HHI. We currently have an October UY, which works great because we usually travel to WDW in late Fall or in the Winter. However, I'm not sure that an October UY would work for HHI since we plan on visiting there in the summer and if we had to cancel after June 1, we would not have the option to bank those points.

As an aside, it would be nice if dvcmembers.com an a feature that would email you a banking reminder.

I did an add-on in Jan. for BWV. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted with my Feb. UY, but I did find exactly what I wanted in an April UY so I went for it. I haven't had any issues with it. I did confirm with MS that as long as I own both contracts (Feb. & April) I can do unlimited transfers between the two. The one transfer per year rule does not apply in this situation. I haven't done any transfers but at least I know I can. I just had an offer accepted yesterday on a new contract to add to my April UY so for me having 2 different UYs has not been an issue. I usually bank any remaining points I have long before the banking window anyway.

We have two UYs, 300 pt February UY and a 100 pt add-on with a December UY. We've not had any issues yet. When we purchased the add-on it was a deal we felt we couldn't refuse. If we had more than 2 UYs I could see where that could be very challenging.

Well we shall see. My husband COULD NOT resist a 100 point contract at VWL. So we went for it. Our current UY on our contract is Oct. This one is Sept.

Funny, we have an OCT use year also.

It started with a resale at Boardwalk. When we tried to buy at other resorts, we were advised to keep it all one use year. Adding some smaller contracts to fit our points to the seasons we prefer for each lodge has made me glad that we're all in the same use year.

It seems to me that it's better to choose one resort or one use year.
