If your heart is in your DREAM ……… a Aug/Sept 2011, NEW - links to dining/trip report

My suggestion is...try SANAA!!!! The bread service is soooooooooooo incredible, everyone I have gone there with always HAS to go back!!! I could LIVE on the bread service- it is THAT GOOD!:cloud9:

Oh Rosie just looked charming in her new hat!

I most probably will be! I bought some new dresses that I plan to wear at WDW. We'll definitely have to spend some time together at Pop.

She did! :rotfl2: She did!!!
I wonder what she will come up with for our DISmeet! :woohoo:

We WILL go with your suggestion, Ellen, esp. since we LOVE Sanaa! We have eaten there three times yet and cannot wait to go back - but I was thinking of saving it for our second stay at WDW.
I need to look into the bread service. Does that come with dips? We had the sampler and loved it ...... I esp. loved the cauliflower! YUM!! :lmao: Yes, I am weird and like cauliflower and brussel sprouts!

We did actually agree on Citricos the other day! :lmao: If we do 2 signatures that would free 2 evenings for off property meals! ;)
Guess we will do Sanaa some time during the trip, just not sure it will be during the first part.

WE have had breakfast at Ohana. But we mostly miss our breakfast ADRs (decided the day before that we don't wanna get up that early the next day! :lmao: I am sure I will make a few ADRs, not sure if we won't end up cancelling them in the end.

We haven't tried Teppan Edo yet. I am not that keen on the "table sharing"
And I would really apreciate it if Disney came up with the park hours some time soon! ;) :lmao:

That's cool then as I know you like to eat on as well as off property :)

I am with you on the early morning ADR's we cancelled a couple of ADR's last trip due to not wanting to get up so early.

Teppan is fun, if you get great table buddies it can make for a great night. Otherwise, you can always arrange to have a meal with some friends that might be there when you are, that way you're not sharing with strangers :)

I would skip Boatwright's. We were not impressed at all and the service was awful (2-1/2 hours, and that included waiting 40 minutes past our ADR time).

....... and my maybe list ;)
  • Kouzzina, which we loved last summer
  • Citrico, which we never made it to, last summer
  • Sanaa?
  • Jiko?
  • Boatwrights?
  • Captain's Grill?
  • Turf Club?

If only Disney would come up with the park hours soon, so I could get my thinking cap on and do some more planning!

Any input, anyone?

You MUST try Citricos, Sanaa, and Jiko! Those are three of my favorites places to eat in Disney. Check out my DR's if you want to see some food porn from those places.

I really liked the Turf Club too, but you've been there so you know.

Agree with Kathy about Boatwrights - honestly do not understand the great reviews. Service awful, food not even tasty (and I like plain food, so you can just imagine how bland this stuff was!), place was dirty.... could go on and on.

Not a bit fan of table sharing either ;) ....although, we have had a few nice meals at Teppan Edo, but all 3 times we were large group.

Early morning ADRs are very hard to keep after a day at the parks! :rotfl2:

We might try Teppan Edo in a year or so, when Mary Ellen and Joe will be with us again. I guess it is easier to sit at a table with "strangers" if you all speak the same language (as a first language). Joe is quite an "ice-breaker" so that might make it easier for all of us!

Wow! When did you eat there? Our last dinner there was at least 4 years ago (when they still did breakfast - banana stuffed french toast - :cloud9: :lmao:) and we had perfect service and the food was real nice. Must have gone downhill after we were there.

We have been to Sanaa 3 times yet and we went to Jiko last summer, we LOVE Sanaa and Jiko wasn't bad either! ;)
We skipped Citricos, being on the DxDDP in the summer heat was not a clever idea! :rotfl2: This is the one that I really would love to try - guess I need to put it on my "to do" list!

When did you all have those bad meals at Boatwrights? Are we just overly lucky? :confused3 :rotfl2: We had a nice meal and the funniest server too!

Maybe we can try Teppan Edo next summer? I am already planning and pinching numbers! :lmao:

We went in 2007 and we truly did not like it at all. I was very upset that they closed it for breakfast the following year because we really wanted to try it.

We went for breakfast so many times and we loved it! I was heartbroken when they closed it.

And I just looked up our trip when we had dinner there and it was in 2006! :scared1: Well, guess we will stay away, even though I need to drive over there for my fix of Magic Cookie Bars! ;) :lmao:

I am sorry I have been MIA for a while, but it has been quite a busy week at school.

Didn't leave me much time for replying, updating or heaven forbid, planning our summer trip! But I hope to be a busy bee this weekend and update ALL my threads! ;)

Just a little fact for today - today in exactly 7 months Tom and I will board the Disney Dream for 11 nights of fun and food! I cannot believe we have nearly made the 6 month mark until we leave (well 6 months and 3 weeks, but who cares!)! :yay: :woohoo: :yay:

Disney has finally come up with MK hours for August, but so far no other parks, so I guess I go with my historical August days for EMH. I wanna start planning my dining this weekend, so I can change it around even before I am going to book it! :lmao:

11 nights on a ship??? Oh, you are a brave woman!!!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I am very glad you & Tom are so excited (I'm excited for you:thumbsup2) and quite relieved is it not me going along too. ::yes::

It has been a crazy week here too. My dear friend, Lynne, will not be able to make our Savannah trip (notice the missing countdown :sad1:). Bless her heart, she had a terrible fall in the ice this week, had to be transported by ambulance and has a pretty bad knee injury. Out of work (Special Ed teacher) until at least Feb 2 and could be a slow recovery until she can really walk or drive any distance. So, she will not be leaving home this winter. I feel so bad for her. Some positive thoughts sent her way would be great!:goodvibes

Sorry your trip has been cancelled! I am so sorry for your friend. Knee injuries can be so complicated! :sad2: Hope she gets "back on her feet" soon and that you can reschedule your trip.
Here's lots of healing pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: for her!

Oh that's right you've been to Sanaa and Jiko.

Well since you haven't done Citricos, you HAVE to try it!!!!!

That aqua duck water coaster looks like soooo much fun. Im pretty jealous you will get to try that on a cruise ship!

I think we will do Citricos during the second part of our stay! Since we have never been, I guess it is a "must do"! ;)

Can't wait to check out the new ship, and especially the Aqua Duck! All those photos look amazing - tomorrow in 4 weeks time we are going to have a look at the DREAM when we drive to Port Canaveral for the afternoon! :thumbsup2

Christine so sorry about your friend !!!

Karin I am sooooo hoping for a cruise for FREEE !!!!!:cloud9:If only I could talk Carol into one , but I think she shares Christines mind set!!

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you Rosie! :yay: I really hope you get to cruise for free - best way to cruise! ;)
Maybe you have to "brainwash" Carol with all the photos of the DREAM, so she would agree to it! :lmao:

What a good idea! Rosie, the roomie! ;) We need to work on that idea!

I really hope Kathy and Mark and Nicki and Todd will consider a cruise as well - I am sure they are gonna love it! :cloud9:

You wouldn't have to Twist my arm toooooo much!!!:rotfl2:

I am a good twister, Rosie - arm-twister that is! :rotfl2:

So this afternoon I sat down, checked the restaurants, checked last years park hours and made a first "plan" on where to eat during our first stay at WDW this summer! ....... I cannot tell you HOW good it feels to say THIS summer! :rotfl2:

So here goes:

We'll arrive on August 13 and our lunch and early dinner will be on board out Lufthansa plane.
I guess we will check into OKW at around 9 - 9.30 and will head over to WPE to pick up some late night dinner to consume while lounging on the couch in OKW.
Off to bed afterwards.

Aug 14:
Breakfast: Olivia's (I'm still dreaming of those strawberries and cream! ;))
Lunch: We will need to do some shopping and will have lunch at either Mara or Pepper Market.
Dinner: The Wave

Aug 15:
Breakfast: fridge
Lunch: Share some CS at WS - would love to try Mexico and Norway is always a winner
Dinner: Jiko (we have been there last summer and enjoyed it!)

Aug 16:
Breakfast: fridge
Lunch: Mama Melrose (wanna try for a Fantasmic Package -assuming this will be a Fantasmic day! :lmao:)
Dinner: ABC commissary (those designer burgers are calling my name! - I think they offer a surf and turf burger )

Aug 17:
Breakfast: fridge - we want to get up early and try for EMH at Typhoon Lagoon.
Lunch: instead of eating at Typhoon Lagoon we will try to get a snack during the morning and leave by early afternoon for lunch at WPE
Dinner: offsite - haven't decided anything yet - we just want to venture out a bit - there are a lot of nice things out there, that we would love to try.

Aug 18:
Breakfast: WPE
Lunch: Columbia Harbour House or maybe Pecos Bill or Cosmic Ray's
Dinner: Yachtsman Steakhouse

Aug 19:
Breakfast: fridge
Lunch: would like to try the designer burger at POFQ or Contempo Cafe or Captain Cook's
Dinner: offsite, if there are EMH at the MK that day we might even share a CS later that night

Aug 20:
Breakfast: Fridge
Lunch: Pepper Market
Dinner: California Grill

Aug 21:
Breakfast: WPE
After breakfast we will drive to Port Canaveral to check in for our triple cruise on the DREAM.

Tom and I have looked at a lot of photos of the DREAM and we are discussing additional dining on board (Palo, Remy) but so far we haven't made our minds up. I guess we will need to wait a little longer and read a few reviews about all the new restaurants.

And I haven't even started to think about the second part of our WDW stay. 9 more nights, but this time without DDP!

So, what do you think of our plans?

Karin, your plans sound awesome! I love the variety.

I would go with Columbia Harbor or Cosmic Rays (I'm not a fan of Pecos Bills).

And as for that cruise...maybe in 2013 for our 30th wedding anniversary and Mark's 60th birthday. :)

Thank you, Kathy!
CHH is always my favourite - love the upstairs seating! :thumbsup2 But one of the MK CS has a new designer burger and we are on a mission of trying them all! :rotfl2: I need to look into this in more detail (and maybe make notes and not play it by ear! :lmao:)

Ups, forgot that it was 2013 you "wanted" to cruise and not 2012!

Rosie, we need to make new plans! :lmao:
