I think now is the perfect time for her to come because Tigger has no sense of urgency, and no sense that as he sits and SLOWLY eats a snack lines are just getting longer and longer. I'm sure they will make a good pair because while Tigger snacks or looks at ducks or whatever, MIL can look around and relax too. In a few years she would never be able to keep up!

Ha! I laughed when I read "so I know it's not me"! I'm pretty sure it's not me either as Grizzly totally understands all my complaints. Yet Grizzly only makes the situation worse because he kind of eggs on MILs anxiety issues. Just the other day he was telling her about how strollers get stolen all the time. I almost killed him later. She's the type of person who will skip out on riding something in order just to watch her locked and INSURED scooter to make sure it's not stolen. She has done this at our local zoo, and refused to go into an exhibit so she could watch the stroller. The same stroller that we leave all by itself every time we go into that exhibit at the zoo when she is not with us. Silly lady!

Dinner and a show! I like that too!

So things are looking good. I sent my MIL an email (yes, this is our primary form of communication with one another) with a grocery list and told her to star anything that she would also like, and to add anything to the list that she wanted. This is a subset of her response:

    Drinks:
    Whole Milk
    Bottled Water *
    Seltzer
Beer (Sam Adams and Something else) ************************************************************************************************************************

Her bazillion stars on beer made me smile.

I can't wait to hear how your trip goes! It sounds to me like you and your husband both have a great sense of humour about MIL though. I take it you are DVC members since you mentioned points? At least you know you will have many more trips to WDW in the future if this one turns out to be one you'd rather forget.

My husband, two daughters and I will be arriving on the 19th with my MIL, FIL, BIL, his wife and my niece and nephew. None of them have been before. We have been many times and are DVC members, so we will have many trips to come. It is my MIL's 60th birthday and she is paying for the whole trip! My MIL is the best, never interferes, very easy going, but has difficulty making a decision, mostly due to my FIL who can be over-bearing. Hubby and I plan on giving everyone a copy of our plans, park hours etc., and its up to everyone if they want to join us or not. We have a few meals scheduled together (and some scheduled just for us). We also got tickets for MIL and FIL to see La Nouba. I am happy to play tour guide, and am really hoping that my in-laws have a good time. I am a little worried that they won't "get it" the same way we do, but on the other hand I have to remember that not everyone does. I'm sure hubby and I will just drink a little more than usual and we'll all get along just fine!:thumbsup2

Welcome! I hope you guys have a great trip too. You summed up my plans exactly! We are DVC members, so we have plenty more trips in our future if this one is awful. For me this trip is all about playing tour guide in such a fashion that MIL can enjoy the parks while being the least irritated by things I know irritate her (crowds, waiting in line, poor restaurant service). I bolded your last line. We rarely drink at home. A case of beer can last months in our fridge, and the only reason why it doesn't last longer is that MIL has a beer when she is babysitting (after our son is asleep of course). I will definitely be drinking more than usual this trip. MIL is fond of Sam Adams and Mud Slides, so we'll have some fun with that.

One good thing I can say about MIL is that she doesn't interfere with our parenting. We have very strict rules about TV and sugar consumption and she follows all of them. I know she doesn't agree with the fact that I send my son to daycare instead of being a stay at home mom like she was, but she has never said anything about this to me. She also never gives any unsolicited parenting advice. Quite a dream MIL from that perspective.

Oh no! Anybody order a wrench because we might have a bit of a wrench here. Yesterday Tigger was odd. Overly snuggly, followed by periods of seemingly fine and jumping around. Checked him for a fever this morning, he was fine so I sent him to daycare. Well I picked him up and he had had the same kind of snuggly followed by fine day except lots of crying which is extremely rare for beast child. Well he said his mouth hurt so I took a peak in there and there is the most awful looking sore under his tongue. Think wolverine came and took a chomp out of his mouth and then painted the inside white. I feel so awful for him. I've never seen anything that looked so painful. It's almost dime size. I'm really hoping it's just the world's worst cold sore, but I'm worried he has hand foot and mouth. No other symptoms except that he looks dreadfully ill, very pale and his eyes just look sickly. Lot's of tlc for this guy. I'll see what the doctor says tomorrow if he'll even see me.

I am laying here laughing thinking of my recent trip to WDW for Xmas and NYE. We had a wrench... Day before we go DD8 gets fever.... Ugh... We ended up falling like dominoes during the two week trip. We got home yesterday and of 8 of us we have 1 pneumonia, 4 case of bronchitis, 1 double ear infection and a plain old cold. We also had the MIL join us and yes she is one of those MIL's and I sworn she would never ever join us and taint my/our happy place.... But apparently the good Lord had other plans... My FIL passed away suddenly 2 weeks before we are supposed to leave... Our usual cast of characters for our bi-annual trip is me, DW, DD13, DD8, SIL, BIL and niece and we go every 2 years ... So when FIL passes I am left with 3 choices, 1) Stay home 2) Go and leave MIL go fend for herself and have DW and SIL worried about her 3) invite MIL to go with us against all instincts. We had a quick family meeting and decided 3 was the only real option.... Again despite everyone's concerns.... Well as you might imagine given the illness, circumstances before the trip, and nature or MIL to begin with this was not going to end well... And you'd be right.... Our normal group has all asked for a do over... Which makes me laugh, we began our count down to our new trip 713 days, while still on this trip and for the first time I was glad to board ME to go home.... The beautiful thing .as pointed out in another post is that this only one trip and it stinks for now, it is sure to be remembered as "that trip" in the future. There will be new DVC adventures..... Yippieeeee!

Based on all I have read in your post it sounds like you will have a great time.... If it gets hairy think about the trip I just came off of,,,, it can be lots worse. Yeah we had to insist on the MIL getting a scooter too... Can not tell you how many ppl she hit and we apologized on her behalf to.... Time for more meds for me..... Lol

Hope the little one feels better soon... Always a bummer when they are feeling punky....

Ewok Loves Wookie! I love that user name so much. Two of my favorite furry creatures. Your trip sounds like a true nightmare. I love that you are planning a 'do over' and I hope that it goes much better.

Thanks! So for a quick update on the Tigger beast. He is going to be fine. This morning when I looked in his mouth it looked WORSE than the night before. Much worse, so I was sort of freaking out. But Tigger said it felt better. This was later confirmed because he ate a slim jim, 2 cereal bars and ritz crackers for breakfast. Please don't rag on me for the unhealthy breakfast, I only let him eat the slim jim because I was certain the spiciness would burn his mouth and then he would agree to go to the store with me for some soft non spiky foods and some fudgecicles to help numb the pain. Plan worked against me and we never made it to the store. Was able to get him in to see his doctor today at 3:15 and he just has a significant cut under his tongue. The PA didn't make me feel crazy for bringing him in, but there was also nothing that can be done, we just have to wait for it to heal on its own. Last night was rough as he woke up in pain and wanted his back rubber from 1am until 2am so I'm beat today, but feeling much better knowing that we are, for the moment, virus free. I hope we stay that way and I hope Tigger's mouth gets better fast. This whole incident also has me wondering how he could cut his mouth so badly. I have no idea what happened, so no way to prevent it from happening again.

    Let the fun begin!!!!!

So MIL was over babysitting tonight so we could run out and get 50 cent wings and $1 drafts at our favorite local bar. I had Grizzly drop me off at home before he ran out to get a part for his car, so it was just me and MIL. She started telling me about her list of things to do before she leaves and what she has already done. I have never met anyone who worries as much as she does. The other day Grizzly called the scooter rental place just to double check the reservation for her and I had him ask about insurance for the scooter. We are going through Randy's something or other, and Randy said that in the state of Florida there is no such thing as scooter insurance and that any other company that offers it is just padding their pockets. He reassured Grizzly that he has never had a scooter returned damaged and has never had one stolen. Of course MIL flips out. Today she told me she called both her home owners insurance and her auto insurance to see if the rental scooter would be covered. She is already fretting that the scooter will be stolen. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't get on any ride so she can stand and watch the darn scooter.

Then she starts going off about her favorite topic, airport security. On her list of things to do was purchase a money belt so that she can keep her cash on her because "people swipe purses and money ALL THE TIME" from airport security. All I'm thinking is yeah, I'm sure people would choose that opportunity to steal when there are a bazillion security guards around, cameras everywhere, and oh the most important thing, NO WHERE TO RUN. So she's panicking because she has to go get wanded down because of her knee replacements and is not allowed to get her bags while they hold her to the side for "UP TO 30 MINUTES" before someone will come and wand her. I told her I would just take her wallet and cash through for her so she wouldn't have to worry about it. She also said my favorite line of all "This is my last trip, I told FIL, I'm not dealing with this airport security EVER again". All I could think was GREAT! Then you won't have to come with me again.

I played nice and assured her that the 10 minutes of the trip that is was going to take to get through security was not worth fretting about. She will fret of course, but I think I did my job.

Silly lady. I can't wait to see if she'll leave the scooter.

Less than 13 hours until we leave for the airport. Perhaps I should start packing. I have begun the gathering process, but haven't put anything into a bag yet. Throughout this week I have become less worried about stressed out MIL and more concerned about Grizzly's reaction to stressed out MIL. He gets snippy with her which I hate. She's 60 something years old, there's no sense in telling her not to worry or complain, it's what she does. The best line of defense is to just listen, quietly think she's crazy and carry on. He instead raises his voice with her and gets very short and that drives me nuts because I don't like yelling.

I had a brilliant idea yesterday but it will probably be too late to make it work. My son turns 3 on Saturday, the day we leave. Our flight is at 1pm, so there is plenty of time for a leisurely breakfast. In the off chance that he may not still hate the characters I thought it would be awesome to go to Chef Mickey's before we leave as a birthday breakfast. Unfortunately they have no reservations at any time on Saturday. I'll check everyday just in case something pops up. Chances are Mickey will scare him anyways.

In the meantime I have have moved out Kona Cafe breakfast to Saturday so we don't have to deal with trying to rush off for park opening. MIL is not a morning person, so she will appreciate not having to make a 7:30 breakfast.

Time to fold laundry and pack.

You are probably in bed now, however if you are like me, you may be lying there mentally checking everything! But have a wonderful plane ride. Here's hoping the security line goes smooth & hassle free! Have fun. I hope Tigger's mouth is much better. Debbie

So this is as far as we've gotten. Well at least me. The beasty has a fever and has zero energy. He's been doing better since the tylenol has kicked in, but who knows what will happen. He was too sick on the plane to even play with the ipad, he just layed there staring off into space. Poor beast. Full update to come later this evening.

Ps. Have not even wanted to kill mil once yet!

Dad was giving him a tickle, I was smiling because MIL couldn't figure out the camera. I'm hoping it's just a 24 hour bug. If I had tickled him 4 hours earlier it would have been met with a swat, so there's hope.
