My family is forcing me to share this story.. Heaven knows they have told everyone we know and some folks we don't even know. And only because it may help to save someone from totally embarassing themselves, I will share my saga.

We went to TL to enjoy a wet and wild afternoon and I made the day a lot wilder than I could have ever imagined!!! I am a fuller figure gal but when on vacation I don my swim suit thinking these folks don't know me and they probably will never see me again so... My DD's convince me to ride the water slides. There was no way I'd attempt the speed slides but they said May Day Falls was alot like the lazy river ride, only downhill. Okay, I decide to give it a try. I need to interject that it was a very hot day and my swimsuit had a strap that hooked up around the back of my neck so I had unhooked the strap and tucked it in to the top of my suit. My DD's went down first and the CM was jokeing around with me and says "you aren't afraid are you?" Lying, I said "of course I'm not" and he says "good 'cause I'm sending you down backwards". I truly thought he was kidding, but he wasn't!!!
I figured I could get myself turned around somewhere along the course, but I could not!!! Now being a full figure gal I really picked up some speed down the course, and on one of the swoops I felt my raft being pulled out from underneath me. I tried with all my might to stay in the raft but somehow it flipped me out and the force of the water ripped my swimsuit off!!! I caught the swimsuit with my foot and I stood up to try and pull the suit back up to cover my nakedness. Thinking (and praying) no one could see me, I hear this voice thru the trees saying "You Must Sit Down!" I believe God is speaking to me but I continue standing and tugging at the wet swimsuit. Now everyone knows how difficult it is to put up a wet swimsuit, especially went you have gallons of water rushing around your feet!!! I hear that voice again, "Lady SIT DOWN NOW!!!" Now I spot a CM (apparently tramatized by the sight of a fat naked lady) franticly motioning to me to sit down, when low and behold a gentleman on a raft came down the ride and took my legs out from beneath me. I was soooo embarassed, and I wish I could express the look on that poor guy's face. It was kinda shock, fear and disbelief all in one.
I now decide, suit or no suit, I had better sit down as instructed before I made some more "new friends". I rode the rest of the way down managing to get my suit up waist high before I got to the splash down pool. At the pool were my DD's, several CM's and the poor gentleman I had ruined for life!!! The girls said they became concerned when my raft floated down empty and when the poor guy with the stunned look on his face came down next. But when I made my appearence doing the now known as the "Janet Jackson show" my girls could have DIED!!!

The CM's were doing their best to maintain their composure while asking if I had gotten hurt. Other than a bruise ego, I was fine, but I insisted they get some help for the poor guy that knocked me off my feet!!!

That's my story. Lessons to be learned.

1.) Never trust your kids.
2.) Never let yourself get talked into riding a ride you aren't
sure about.
3.) Never ride May Day Falls backwards!
4.) NEVER NEVER NEVER take that neck strap off!!!!

Oh my, that is some story. I bet you will not be forgetting this vacation. I have to say that is one of my biggest fears. Both ending up backwards and losing my suit! So did you stay or leave after that?

 Oh you poor thing!!! I myself have tucked that neckstrap into the top of my suit. Guess I won't be doing that anymore!!! All I can say is,,,every family needs a great story to tell. Guess, in your family, you're it!!!! Thanks for sharing your mortification with us....:earseek:

Thanks for posting and giving me a laugh today. I really did need it.

That is sooooooo funny! I'm so glad you shared. I think you are a really good storyteller!

OH MY WORD!!!! I feel your pain!! Thanks for sharing! Our trip is coming up and TL is on our itinerary. I have two swim suits. One is like yours where the strap around the neck can be undone. The other has wide straps that go around the shoulders and the bottom part has attached boy shorts. Guess which one I'll be wearing!

tee heee heee...that is hilarous! I am so glad you were able to catch hold of your suit and didn't end up at the bottom with out it!

To answer your question, of course I stayed. I was the butt and boob of all jokes at the park that day. The word of my story flew through the CM's at the water park and throughout the whole of WDW. I might as well as worn a sign around my neck sayin "Yes it was me at TL. And YES I promise I'll never do that again". I have a very good sense of humor and it has provided my family a wonderful vacation memory. We have returned to TL on other trips but I have since change my swim suit style and I don't ride May Day Falls. This event has given MAY DAY a whole new meaning to me. (And I am sure to that poor poor man!!)

I wish I could somehow contact that fellow to apologize!! If you are out there, (and I'm sure you would never forget ME!) I am offering my deepest apology and I hope your family has had as much fun with this event as mine has.

To everyone else brave enough to try May Day Falls, may I suggest a turtleneck swimwear coverup?? LOL

Thanks for sharing! Sorry-but I had to share your story with the rest of my house! :p Too funny! That poor guy!! :earseek:

Oh no! I will never wear a suit with straps to a water park!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
At least you didn't let it ruin your day!

Thans for the smile and a great story!

Another lesson here? When you think you hear God speaking to you -- do what He says!

HAHAHAHA....thanks so much for the story I really really needed a laugh and now my family is looking at me sitting her laughing like I'm a lunatic!!:p

And thanks for the warning...I'll be buying a new suit before we go in may!!

The family and I have had a good laugh over this one, I'm afraid! Thanks for posting!

When I was 14 (many years ago) my parents took my stepbrother and I to Orlando to vacation. My mother was very picky about modesty in swimsuits so instead of me buying a size 10 suit (my normal size) she always made me buy swim suits 4 sizes too big so they wouldn't be "clingy". I think she had me buy a size 16 or 18. When I dove head first and came up out of the water my swim suit was at my waist. Some kind of modesty, huh? I somewhat can relate to what happened to you but I think you got to give the "full show"!

Thank you for posting and letting us all in on the laugh. You truly have a great sense of humor. Also just made a mental note to myself to make sure I have all straps fastned before going down any slides!!

What a good sport you are to post this! I have yet to make it to the waterparks, but I will heed all your warnings if I ever do!:sunny:

DD & I got tears in our eyes from laughing so hard. That is just toooooo funny. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I was laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my cheeks. Oh, my.

Too funny and it's true--you'll never see these people again.

My sister got my son's stomach virus a couple of days ago and it hit her on the Tom Sawyer raft just as it was docking returning from the island. Boy, can she ever clear a raft! She is so thankful that she'll never see any of these people again and she's hoping that my 4yo will forget the whole incident. Yuck!!!
