My family is forcing me to share this story.. Heaven knows they have told everyone we know and some folks we don't even know. And only because it may help to save someone from totally embarassing themselves, I will share my saga.
We went to TL to enjoy a wet and wild afternoon and I made the day a lot wilder than I could have ever imagined!!! I am a fuller figure gal but when on vacation I don my swim suit thinking these folks don't know me and they probably will never see me again so... My DD's convince me to ride the water slides. There was no way I'd attempt the speed slides but they said May Day Falls was alot like the lazy river ride, only downhill. Okay, I decide to give it a try. I need to interject that it was a very hot day and my swimsuit had a strap that hooked up around the back of my neck so I had unhooked the strap and tucked it in to the top of my suit. My DD's went down first and the CM was jokeing around with me and says "you aren't afraid are you?" Lying, I said "of course I'm not" and he says "good 'cause I'm sending you down backwards". I truly thought he was kidding, but he wasn't!!!
I figured I could get myself turned around somewhere along the course, but I could not!!! Now being a full figure gal I really picked up some speed down the course, and on one of the swoops I felt my raft being pulled out from underneath me. I tried with all my might to stay in the raft but somehow it flipped me out and the force of the water ripped my swimsuit off!!! I caught the swimsuit with my foot and I stood up to try and pull the suit back up to cover my nakedness. Thinking (and praying) no one could see me, I hear this voice thru the trees saying "You Must Sit Down!" I believe God is speaking to me but I continue standing and tugging at the wet swimsuit. Now everyone knows how difficult it is to put up a wet swimsuit, especially went you have gallons of water rushing around your feet!!! I hear that voice again, "Lady SIT DOWN NOW!!!" Now I spot a CM (apparently tramatized by the sight of a fat naked lady) franticly motioning to me to sit down, when low and behold a gentleman on a raft came down the ride and took my legs out from beneath me. I was soooo embarassed, and I wish I could express the look on that poor guy's face. It was kinda shock, fear and disbelief all in one.
I now decide, suit or no suit, I had better sit down as instructed before I made some more "new friends". I rode the rest of the way down managing to get my suit up waist high before I got to the splash down pool. At the pool were my DD's, several CM's and the poor gentleman I had ruined for life!!! The girls said they became concerned when my raft floated down empty and when the poor guy with the stunned look on his face came down next. But when I made my appearence doing the now known as the "Janet Jackson show" my girls could have DIED!!!
The CM's were doing their best to maintain their composure while asking if I had gotten hurt. Other than a bruise ego, I was fine, but I insisted they get some help for the poor guy that knocked me off my feet!!!
That's my story. Lessons to be learned.
1.) Never trust your kids.
2.) Never let yourself get talked into riding a ride you aren't
sure about.
3.) Never ride May Day Falls backwards!
4.) NEVER NEVER NEVER take that neck strap off!!!!
