I was wondering how do you handle the tips at the end of the trip? I am very clueless on how I'm going to tip...servers, cabin folks, etc. Advice?

disney will send a form to your cabin toward end of cruise giving recommendations. the tips are based on a per person/day rate. you can send the form back and they charge the tips to your room account and give you vouchers to present to the staff. If you will tell me the length of your cruise (3, 4 or 7 day) I will give you the guidelines that were printed in our documents for june 2004 cruise. Alto I'm sure tip guideline is on the internet somewhere. probably on *****************

Of course you are able to give web address. Its just that the CastawayClub . com site has been censored from this site for some reason (I was away when this started - so I don't have a clue as to why)

Here's a link to a very recient tipping thread.
How Does Tipping Work The first thing to know is that the recommended tipping guide is for EACH person in YOUR party for the ENTIRE trip - so look for the column that has the number of nights your cruise is. For a 4 night cruise with 4 guests the recommended tips come to $175.

Here links to many other useful sites

Here is a list of links to DCL resources

    DCL Official Site
    Dave's DCL Tribute
Welcome Aboard the Disney Cruise Line (see links on the left)

copy this line into your browser and take out the spaces after the "www" and before the "com" to the end of it:
    www .CastawayClub. com
(because the link is now a bad word:confused: )

Don't forget to take along a bunch of ones to tip the CM who brings room service--if you order from it.

For counselors in kids clubs--consensus seems to be Walmart or Target gift cards.

Tips can be charged to your stateroom account. In that case, you get a 2 part receipt--one part for you, one to put in the envelope for the CM. Or you can put cash in the tip envelopes.

Which the CMs like better seems to be a personal matter and may be dependent on where they reside. If you charge, they receive their tips every 2 weeks from DCL, so there is no worry about losing an envelope or anything...but there is a paper trail. Some of these people pay taxes at home, some do not. THere is no tax in the Bahamas (where the ship is registered). Obviously, it is their responsibility to keep track of cash tips and report them as might be required by the laws in their home country.

All that said....I usually charge the "suggested" tips, and add any extra in cash in the envelope.

Yes, tips are for EACH person in the party. For a 7 day cruise, the suggested tips are about $76 per person.
