I've occasionally looked into these resorts as we love the Boardwalk area. I've read that people get worthwhile deals here as well. But how? I think there are parking fees and maybe other costs added that push the rates a little too high for me. I'm a nurse and I think there is (or was) a nurse discount? Anyway, if anyone is savvy to the ways of the Swan/Dolphin, I'd be grateful for advice. :3dglasses

Just call reservations and ask for the discount rate for Nurses. Any other memberships like AAA, Annual Pass, or Entertainment can be checked as well. Sometimes one discoount is slightly better than another. I have found the reservation people at the 1-800 number to be very helpful in the past.

You can check the rates on the Dreams Unlimited website:

We have stayed at the Swan/Dolphin many times with a teachers discount. Yes there is a resort fee and parking fees but the rates can still be a good value with the discounts. And the location is great.

If you decide to stay there make sure to join spg.com (Starwood properties). It is their frequent guest program. We usually get an upgrade and earn points for stays. That is one reason that when we go anywhere we try to stay at Starwood hotels, like Westins, Ws, aLofts, Sheratons, etc. we are trying to earn points for a WDw stay.

I've used the nurse's discount a couple of times at the Swan. We really loved our stays there. I agree with the PP who says to sign up for the Starwood Points, as we have ALWAYS been upgraded when staying at one of their hotels. We haven't stayed there the last few trips because the free dining promotion works out so well for us.

To use the nurse's discount, you will need to provide proof of employment at check-in. I brought my hospital badge, but I'm sure other proof will work as well.

Have a great trip, whatever you decide to do!:cool1:
