How much younger (if at all) than 3 was your child in Oceaners?

If your potty trained child was allowed in Oceaneers before he/she turned three, exactly how old was he/she? Thanks!

Our three youngest were all in the club before age 3. One was in a 2 1/2 and twins were in at about 2 1/4.

They were all given "trials" in the club, had no problems and were told they could stay after a few minutes of observation.

Never had an accident or issue but made sure to put them in clothes that were easy to get up and down by themselves as no assistance is provided.

You have to talk to the Oceaneers Club supervisor when you go to the club.

Hmmm...does that include cleanup afterwards??? Mine youngest is potty trained, but makes a mess when cleaning up unattended.

Yes, the requirement for the Oceaneer's Club is fully potty trained which means that they know when they need to go, can manage the clothing, going, wiping, hand washing, and re-dressing unassisted.

Of course, you can help with this--make sure they go either in the Club potty as you are dropping them off (while you are there to help) or in your stateroom before you take them to the Club. Put in an appearance every 90 minutes or so to suggest that they go and you can escort them at that time.

If there is a problem with the clean up, you'll be paged.

Yes, they clean up unattended. The bathrooms are kid sized which makes it a little easier for them, but they get no assistance.

Our experience with all out little ones in Oceaneers Club was wonderful :)

Our DD was appx. four months shy of turning three. She wasn't what I consider "fully" potty trained. However, we always took her potty before we went and we came back about every hour to take her potty again. One time we waited about two hours. Never had any accidents. We did take her in pull ups and nothing was ever said about it. We didn't tell them she was in pull ups, of course. However, we didn't tell them she was in underwear either. They asked if she was potty trained and I said pretty close. And that we'd come back every hour or so and take her. She is very tall for her age and did great in the club. So, they said she was fine to stay. We are going again in March. She is over three & wearing underwear now, but still requires some assistance when using the restroom. We will still be checking in on her every hour to see if she needs help going or anything. We had one in the club and one in Flounders. I can tell you the staff is great! They even brought our DD from Flounders over to the club a couple times to play, etc. The little girls in the club loved playing with the baby! And she loved having them play with her. They took our baby (then appx. 9 months) for walks in the stroller different times too. I just can't tell you how pleased we were with the children's staff!

So I would love to try to talk my brother into joining us on our next cruise but his littlest will be 2 years 3mos. Should I help with potty training my niece? ;)

We went in May and my DS turned 3 in July so 2 years and 10 months. He was fully potty trained and could wipe, wash etc.

My dd. was 2 years 9 months on our first cruise. Potty trained except for clean up after pooping. So, we'd wait until she'd done her business for the day and then take her to the club!!

This year, at 3 years 9months, she still needs some help. So, she knew to have us paged if she needed to go anything beyond pee!

Never had a problem.

Also remember it's more than just potty trained to let a child under three into the club - they also look at size and maturity/social level of the child. If a child under three is too small it is a safety issue (remember now the club is open for up to 10 year olds kids) they will advise you to use the nursery or have parents in the club to supervise their child. As well if a child is disruptive or cannot follow directions from the counselors they will recommend the nursery. Every child is different - and its totally at the staff's discretion what child is approved.

youngest DS was 2.75. DW worked hard over the summer to make sure he could go potty and, with 2 months to go, he finally got the hang of it. Just the same, he did not get the hand washing down all the way and now, just turning 3 this upcoming Saturday, he still doesn't get the wiping down. One of us visited every 1-2 hours to check on him.

We did get paged once due to a potty accident where he got so distracted by all the fun and forgot himself. The Oceaneer Club people were great, did not raise an issue with it, they did have a change of clothes available if needed in a bag with his name on it. It all worked out well. (Our 6yr old DD was also in the club and looked after her little brother when needed, she's a great little helper)

Next cruise, we'll be able to relax better, not saying we missed much in relaxation in December, just that we'll have even more rest (and fun) next cruise.

Boy do I wish I had found this board before our last cruise!! I had no idea my DD could attend the club before her 3rd birthday!! We cruised in Jan. and she was just 2 1/2, but I had her fully potty trained by her 2nd birthday...I wanted to make certain she could swim in the pools!! I took her to Flounders several times and each time they questioned why I didn't bring a diaper bag, I explained it was because she was fully potty trained and would ask if she needed to go. They never once mentioned that she could try out the Oceaneer Club. You are very lucky to have found such an informative group of people!!! I am going to be sooooo much more prepared for our WBTA in Sept!!

Hi Tower and everyone thanks for this thread we are going next year for our first time when our kids will be DS3 and DD6 been looking for some info on this, how easy is it to check up on them, can you go into the club and use a restroom inside with them or do you have to take them out. Also trying to understand how the wristband works, what degree of tracking can they do, is it just in the club or around the ship as well?

Also with the activities do you book them on when you check them in or do they decide at the time, I am only thinking that they may get distracted and miss something we know they will enjoy! Will the CMs come find them at the time?

Good for you on pt'ing by 2. I'm a huge advocate of early pt'ing. My son will have been out of diapers since LAST Apr. when he was 20 months. I think of all the diapers I have saved in the past year. :thumbsup2 Now I am happy that he will be able to go to the kids club w/ my dd5 this Apr.

My DS was 2yr 9 mo. Even though his sister was in there with him I think he was a little intimidated with the crowds and kids.

I'm hoping that won't happen to my son who will be 2yr 8 mos. He recently graduated to the older kids' club at the gym and doesn't want to go back to the "little kids'" club, so I'm hoping he'll be o.k. Although I know these kids will be much older. We'll see.
