My review I posted on TA. Happy to answer any questions. One thing I left out is there is a full kitchen (full size fridg with freezer, blender, toaster, stovetop, etc.)

We stayed here 2 adults, 2 kids in a family suite for 6 nights. It was nice having all the space and a refrigerator.

We ate breakfast here several times and it was very good. They did slightly change it up each day with the hot items. Plenty of fresh fruit which was very nice.

My boys used the basketball court (check out ball at front desk), hot tub, and heated pool. Very happy with all. We did laundry twice as well and it was $4 per load ($2 per machine) and there was always plenty of machines.

The room is large, but the setup is all wrong. The bathroom door opens into the vanity area so if someone is standing there it's very cramped. Which also opens into the 2 doors to the closet. I'm pretty sure whomever did the floor plans to this wasn't thinking about all those doors and bodies in the same place. With a family of 4 this bathroom is super inconvenient.

The rest of the room has tons of space, however the bunk beds are only separated by a half wall. The TV rotates and can face the bunk beds or the king bed. The living room is very comfortable and large. The room has 2 dressers and tons of drawer space.

The air conditioners are old school and blow into the room. In the bedroom it blows on whomever is on the bottom bunk and in the living room it blows center. FYI if you hate air blowing directly on you.

We never had water issues. Hot water always instant.

We walked to/from the Toy Story shuttle parking lot every morning and evening. The walk with kids is about 4 minutes. Seriously next door (use the handicapp ramp to enter and you won't have to wait to cross the street). We used Uber twice for EMH and a breakfast reservation to Paradise Pier. One time it was $4.95 and one time it was $5.50. One other morning no Ubers were available and we called a cab. The cab was $9. Both times we used Uber it took about 7-10 minutes to arrive.

The hotel is new but some construction looks really thrown together. Baseboards in bathroom already separating from the wall. Marker marks where construction was being done initially. It just isn't "polished" like it should be for a new hotel. The tile in the room was never super clean. I called the front desk upon checkin and no one ever came. The rest of the room was clean, including no dust and all surfaces clean. But the tile was just shoe spots, etc.

My recommendation if you are booking super early and haven't finalized your disney dates would be to book many nights until you decide what your final dates are and then drop the nights you don't need. When I had to adjust my dates one day in the early date I could have originally booked for $40 cheaper and even though I was staying the same amount of nights those nights had gone up and they were immovable on price.

We walked to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (right down the street) as well as to Alamo (10 min walk). CVS is also on Katella (10 min walk). If you wanted to walk to the park it would prob take 20 min with kids. It's 1.2 of a mile.

The bed was fine. Not super comfortable but it didn't suck by any means. Average. Large king though and plenty of pillows. Sheets were fine as well (no pilling), and towels as well. Toiletries were Neutrogena which worked great for my son with eczema.

Staff was fine. No complaints except them never sending someone to clean the tile. The cleaning crew did a good job on the bathroom and rest of the room, just not the floors.

When you said the beds were not super comfortable what did you mean? Were they too firm? I like a softer bed.

The one thing about a brand new hotel it that likely means brand new mattresses - which do tend to be a bit firm until they are broken in.

It's funny how doors are never thought about - so many places I have been too would work better if they had sliding type pocket doors, but I am sure there are maintenance concerns with anything like that. Glad you enjoyed it overall and glad you wrote a TA review - so many people only write reviews when they hate a place, which skews the overall reviews. This is much more constructive.

Thanks for the review, looks like a pretty good hotel.

Did you try out the evening reception and, if so, what was it like?

Also, I read one report that there is a room with free video games (plus a couple of games that cost $0.25 per play). Did you happen to come across that room?

Thanks.

The bolded is one of my main concerns about staying here and why I will probably cancel it. That and the bunks are not separated by a door or actual wall. Thanks for your input on this.

Thanks for taking the time to post this review. Is this the Homewood Suites - Main Gate? My husband travels for work constantly and earns tons of Hilton points. It seems this might be a good way to use them!

We saw the video room but never made it in. We were never there for evening horderves either.

This is the Homewood Suites Convention Center. Address is 2010 S. Harbor.

I had the same opinion about the tightness in the bathroom area, but wouldn't cancel because of it unless your family's prep time gets really hectic and you are going to be on a tight schedule, which I guess can be a real possibility.

Just found my old review I wrote up closer to the time I stayed at homewood:

My mini review:
Always nice to have everything practically new, although some materials and construction were not the best quality. A towel rack near the sink was already broken on one end and kept falling.
Had the 2 queen 1 bedroom suite, and room is tight in some spots, particularly between bathroom sink and door to toilet/shower. The door from the toilet room opens right onto the area someone stands in front of the sink. I have stayed at a nearly identical floorplan at the residence inn marriott down the street, technically garden grove, and the residence inn seemed a little more spacious and airy, although older.

Kitchen had 2 burners, medium size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, plates, glasses, cutlery, stocked with a bag of microwave popcorn, tea, coffee, paper towels.

The bathroom had an "always on" fan with no switch that was very loud and could be heard from the beds, but didn't prevent me from sleeping, more like white noise.

Bed was a serta perfect sleeper for hilton, quite soft and comfortable. I like soft pillows that give some, but these were too soft and had little support. One long pillow and 2 smaller ones per queen.
I didn't notice anything unusually rough about the sheets that someone else mentioned. Not silk or sateen, but seemed fine to me.

Breakfast was good, can't go wrong with make your own waffles, except one day they ran out of regular syrup and only had sugar free left. Line for waffles was either no wait or short wait, not as bad as other hotels I've been at where everyone waits for 2 machines. Other days items included (split across days, not all on the same day) pancakes, omelette cakes, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, hash browns, hillshire farm style cut sausages, round canadian bacon (ham) slices, sausage links, french toast, french toast sticks I never saw any donuts, but they always had the same blueberry crumb type muffin, english muffins, bagels, white bread, cereal, oatmeal, apples, oranges, bananas, coffee, tea bags, swiss miss hot chocolate pouches.

The beverage dispenser had orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, although the orange juice was often very watered down or just needed to be refilled.

Parking was easy, except on the weekends it got packed. There was one parking lot light that continually flashed on/off, probably very distracting to someone in a nearby room. It was never fixed the time I was there. Walk to toy story lot for shuttle was quick except for a long crosswalk light (if you wait for it) and never a long wait for a shuttle although I felt weird walking in from the streets and thought the attendants would tell us to leave although they never did, and people from other hotels all over s harbor seemed to use it too.

I would stay again while it is still relatively "new" and the price is in the mid $100s. Better than comparably priced older hotels with musty smells.

If any hotel bed is too soft for you always ask if they have "bed boards" a lot of hotels keep what are basically pieces of plywood that they slide in between the mattress and the boxspring which will make the mattress feel much firmer. I'd bet most motels won't have them but most convention ones should. A hotel my sister worked at used to host a lot of pro hockey teams and ALWAYS put them in the beds when the teams were expected as they preferred firmer mattresses.

thanks for this...we had planned on staying there this summer but I was a little freaked out about people talking about the large hold they put on your card and extra fees and such so we are staying at Park Vue again
